This place was the absolute perfect hotel for our stay in Bocas! Cute little mom and pop with a good restaurant on the first floor. Certainly don't expect the Ritz, but this is great if you're looking for a quiet and safe place to crash on your scuba or beach trip. The rooms were clean, the staff was great/spoke English, and we had A/C and hot water. We are a couple backpacking Central America in our mid-20's, so the bare necessities at a cheap price was exactly what we were looking for. After reading some other reviews, I am kind of baffled by those who gave a poor rating because they were expecting more from the hotel... what were you expecting for less than $40 a night? It's priced perfectly for what you get and we loved it!
The hotel is located in the Northern part of town, which is fairly quiet at night. During the day, there are cars, golf carts, trucks and buses that pass by and produce some noise. We stayed in room 206 for 4 nights. The room is basically a room with a tile floor and 2 beds. The whitewashed walls could really use a fresh layer of paint as they showed many stains and the paint was rubbed off in some areas. There was a small dresser table with a mirror and a tiny table and a tiny chair. In one corner was a wooden frame that acts as storage and a place to hang some of your clothes. The curtains have some holes and stains. Under the curtain on the floor we saw many tiny insects. The majority were dead, but some alive. One day we found many dead flies on my wife's pillow. The hotel personnel exchanged it immediately, but we still wonder how they got on the pillow. The air conditioning was quiet and efficient, even though the remote control did not work well. On the TV we found 2 English speaking channels, the rest were in Spanish. The door to the bathroom could not be fully closed or locked as the door frame was damaged. The bathroom had a sink, toilet and shower. The toilet cover was 1 size too small for the toilet. The bathroom relies on natural ventilation through a rectangular hole with horizontal bars, but no window or mosquito net to keep critters out. That's probably why we got quite a few mosquito bites. The sink was missing a sink stopper. As in the bedroom, there were stains on the wall, too. The water temperature in the shower kept fluctuating and was sometimes too hot or too cold. Only 2 small bars of soap were provided. No shampoo, no body wash, no hair dryer, no bottled water. Wifi in the room was basically non existent. We may have gotten 1 or 2 hours of wifi in our room during our stay. In the first days, we were at least able to get wifi in the restaurant on the first floor, but later on, that was very spotty, too. We had asked the owner multiple times to reset the router. Typically, wifi did work in the restaurant for a short while after the resets and then there was no internet again. My advice is: don't count on any internet connection. Go to another restaurant instead where they have free wifi. The door to the room has a simple lock that could easily be picked. There is no deadbolt and no safe in the room. One day, they forgot to lock our room after cleaning. Breakfast was included. It consisted of (per person): 1 glass of orange juice, a cup of coffee (with a refill), 3 small slices of bread, 1 portion of margarine and 2 portions of marmalade. For an extra of $2.50, you get a small portion of scrambled eggs or an omelette. The hotel personnel is friendly and responsive and speaks a little English. They can also book excursions for you and tell you how to get to Starfish beach by taking the inexpensive bus ($2.50pp) from the park and then a water taxi ($1.50pp). The hotel accepts Visa and MasterCard for the room and to pay for dinner. Long story short: we would not stay there again due to the lack of internet connectivity and the poor quality of the room.…
Kind staff, the owner speaks also english. The room was small but clean, the bathroom was also ok. The walls are thin, you can hear everything from outside but the night and neighbours weren't noisy so we could sleep. It's close to the center, in a good part of the town.
This property is nice and adequate for a good stay in Isla Colon. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant has really good food as well. The balcony is perfect for relaxing in the wooden chairs. I would stay there again in a second.
The room was good and clean, bed not the best but ok, the value for the money I felt was good I stayed 2 night for about $70 I looked at a lot of hotels and hostels prior that where a lot more money for a dorm style. So that money for your private room with hot showers was good at the time. staff friendly and spoke ok English. The traffic was busy and loud all night. The place is kinda off the beaten path so I first thought it should be quite there, well was I wrong, I think it was the main road to get to the airport, So the noise traffic is my only complaint about the place, so if you can sleep thru load noise, then a good place for you. Also there where a few roosters that let me know it was 4am.
Before I review my stay at Los Delfines, I should first talk about Bocas Town and the island itself. Like a lot of small islands and towns all along the Caribbean Sea, this town seems to have grown rapidly on the tourist dollar. Shanty in appearance and shanty in feel. The weather didn't disappoint either with stifling heat, oppressive humidity & mold every where. So, it wasn't a surprise to arrive at the Los Delfines and not feel like you had arrived at the shanty capital of the world. It's more a Hostel than a Hotel. Pro's: Very friendly staff, really nice restaurant in the front entrance which made great pizzas and juices. Every attempt had been made by the staff to keep the place clean. Con's: Don't know where to start, but the staff has done their best to keep the place clean. …
We really liked the hotel. Clean room, great AC, shower working well, good wifi and very nice stuff. In the other side of the street there is bar/hostel that playing songs really loud all day long, we liked it a little bit but at night it was kind of annoying. The breakfeat is 4 slices of bread with butter and coffee! But in the buttom line we really enjoyed here. Good neighborhood and few minutes walking to the main street.
Stayed there during a business tip and was very satisfied. Its near everything, and is readily accessible to all the good restaurants in town. the room were clean, good beds, hot water and a working AC. The WIFI works well. This is good hotel is you not looking for a beach side hotel. I highly recommend it
The hotel is nice. They gave us a very big room on the third floor with private balcony. They helped us plan a tour without charging us. The owner is very friendly and nice. Super clean. Good location in Bocas but enough far from the noisy area. Good brick oven pizzeria in the hotel. Only bad thing: breakfast which is very poor ( coffee and bread with jam). If they had fruit it would be perfect.
Breakfast was 2 slices of toast and coffee. The rooms were OK and air conditioning worked. For this price the accommodation is OK. Don't mind the comments about the noise of other bars in the neighbourhood as we slept on the first floor right by the street at the noise did not disturb us at all.
