We traveled to Bocas del Toro and as soon as we arrived, a tropical storm hit and a national protest took place-although the protests were pretty far away and Bocas was not impacted, but we could not drive back home. We booked this place and stayed an extra week to wait so that we could go back. We were surprised at how much we enjoyed this place. The location is great, with a dock to take water taxis, the breakfast was good but best of all the staff is amazing.
Our first day was a rough one. There was a large downpour ahead of and during our arrival. This knocked out some power and our room had a musty smell. We asked for a different room but were told they all would probably smell like that due to the humidity and rain, Our room was an adjoining room and we could hear the other guests at night. The pool was freezing and dirty. We thought about leaving. I'm glad we didnt. The musty smell went away the next day, the pool warmed and cleared up and we got creative to block noises from the other room. The front desk was very helpful including Yvette, who was there every day. She even assisted our son with a scrape on his foot. (she's a former pediatrician) The rooms are worn, but beds comfy. The pool is huge, but not used that much as people leave during the day. There's a volleyball court with soccer goals and that was a hit with our son. There's ping pong and you can also use the kayak's. Taxi's are plentiful outfront. It's a 5 minute ride into downtown and equal distance to restaurants north of the hotel. Wifi is strong throughout the hotel, which is a big plus. Breakfast buffet is good, but lunch and dinner service are slow. Happy hour is solid. Overall, if you're looking for a place outside of downtown that is spacious with a pool, lots of open spaces and good service this is a great option.…
Arrived 3/26/22 had an amazing greeting by our check in hostess Kenya- if I could take her back to Montana USA I would do it in a minute. We actually gave her $100.00 because she was always available and pleasant. Otherwise dirty, rude staff. The manager especially when I tell you attitude it was appalling but interesting enough once she found out we gave Kenya a 100.00 she was overly kind but I wasn’t even interested in her fake behavior. When we would go to their restaurant the staff was lazy on their cellphone looking at you as if they were the customer - food was cold and never up to par . I don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Just returned from a 4 night stay. A highlight was comfortable beds. The rest of the room was very dated. Floors are horrible. No refrigerator as advertised. Elevators broke. Shuttle to town out of service. The swimming pool very murky. Horrible service at the restaurant. No snacks or water or pop available to purchase before the restaurant opens for lunch. Breakfast was adequate but ver6 basic.
Nice rooms right at the beach, especially in the left wing. I enjoyed my stay. It is a bit rundown place but not too rundown. Because of covid it was not very busy but everything was open. nice place overall with friendly staff
Playa Tortuga Hotel and Beach Resort was a disappointing choice. Our room smelled musty and had mildew on the curtains. The in room safe was old and didn't work. The hotel itself needed to be updated and could use a good cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The beach was dirty and had trash on it, and the pool water was murky. A breakfast was offered everyday, but it was only adequate. The limited staff was friendly and helpful. The view from our room was nice because we could see a beautiful sunrise. The best part of the hotel was the bar at the end of the pier which was well serviced.
Dirty room, special de breakfast area and the bar area . I kill a big Bug into the bathroom. Also something bite me in the bad ( i was thinking about mosquitos but not) In the room you can hear very clearly what the neighbors are talking . The pool was under “treatment” all the period … They didnt ofer you trips, so be a ware for ofers , they chargiu more
Very good hotel with a beautiful swimming pool. Rooms are comfortable, clean and with a very efficient air conditionning. Breakfast is good and different every morning. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is plesant and overlooking the sea. Great location to enjoy the activities of Bocas del Toro
Stayed at hotel inMarch room was spotless, check in seamless, and food good. While we were there Panama started to quarantine due ti Corona virus.. Air Panama flights were to be stopped shortly. Staff at hotel very helpful. The front desk clerk Guadalupe called the airport several times for us and suggesyed we just go there. Hotel driver brought us to the airport 3 diffetent times for FREE! Air Panam sent any empty plane this afternoon to pick up anyone who had air panama tickets no change fee no hassle just kundness by staff. I am impressed by the compassion everyone had for us. I will come back next year and stay at Plzya Tortuga. The grounds were beautiful and I couldn't rate them any less than excellent. Thank you to all who helped us you kindness is appreciated.
Great option with beach and pool one mile from Bocas Town. Breakfast is hearty and ample. Plenty of seating options around the pool or beach. The Caribbean is not really swimmable right here, but you can walk a short distance down the road for a sweet little beach that was not at all crowded. All rooms seem to have balconies but there is no privacy from the balcony as all your neighbors can see you. There's a bar and restaurant on site if you want to chill, but service can be slow AND the drinks are weak. Food is decent. Not sure if there's room service; never saw a menu.
