The central location of the hotel makes it most suitable both for business trips but also for tourism, with some of the most important attractions of the megalopolis easily reached on foot. Also, shopping trips are also perfect from there, with neighbourhoods like Brás and Bom Retiro some 15min away by car or 45min on foot. That said, the building is under monument protection in the State and was home for dozens of prominent guests in its early years, including Queen Elizabeth! The panels at the end of reception painted by Clóvis Graciano show the grandness the hotel once had. The abovementioned has a downside, however, and, along with the stinginess of investors, prevents or restricts a lot physical improvements in the infra-structure of the hotel, whose overtired furniture belongs to last century. That is compensated by the friendliness and readiness of staff, starting at reception, despite some minor idiosyncrasies of São Paulo city itself, like a tone of neglection and grouping up to gossip while clients queue up. As a Platinum guest, it was frustrating not to be awaited, for the room was decided upon check-in and some negotiation and the usual/expected goodies were obviously not ready. The room wasn't at all adequate, furniture wasn't proper, the chair for the working table is far too uncomfortable and the problem was never solved, which caused me to move to the former prototype room the next day only. A review of the prototype room, which I got to test years ago as an invitation from the general manager at the time, can be read in my timeline, nothing has changed. Water takes ages to warm up there, a common complaint, and some of the very few TV channels available simply disappear by the lightest wind, so maintenance must often go up to the antenna and reboot everything! Breakfast is absolutely superb in all senses, with large assorted of fruits, pastries, breads, warm dishes changed every day and even a healthy and an Asian corner. A warm hug of thankfulness to André, Fran and Gabriel, who make this first hour of the day always most special. Room service is tricky, sometimes they just won't answer the phone and reception must be contacted instead. Prices are quite fine for such a hotel and area, also food is plenty on the plate but presentation is no like the photos. The problem is when you order something at 19h and it gets delivered to your door at 21:59h! No pool or sauna, only a very well-equipped gym on the 9th floor. And the scarce amount of TV channels is also a bummer. Internet works fine in all areas of the hotel. It's my 8th time there and never immune to annoyances and frustration, despite the positive aspects the unit certainly has. The feeling one must always be ready for issues there is, however and again, frustrating.…
