Just arrived and already disappointed. I expected to be greeted by name as a Platinum Elite member. Not even a mention of our Platinum status. We received an email saying we would be upgraded if a room was available. No mention of that either. I’ve checked into Fairfield Inn’s that treated me better at a fraction of the price. I know in the winter that this place probably has about a 30% occupancy rate tonight. So many other options for hotels. I chose the brand that represents the epitome of class. Not this location.

As a frequent business traveler, I have come to expect service levels equivalent to the hotel's branding. In other words, you usually get what you pay for. I have also learned that a hotel's general manager is critical to ensuring that guest expectations are met and that all runs smoothly. Marriott management may want to conduct a performance review of the current incumbent. Regrettably, the front desk staff are not well trained (which should be job 1 of the General Manager). At check-in, I provided my Marriott Bonvoy number. Entering it seemed to be a new experience for the clerk. It was apparent that he was struggling, but the clerk said everything was okay. After getting to my room, I accessed the Bonvoy site to confirm that my Bonvoy number was still active and called down to the front desk to see if my number was properly associated with the stay. I was assured that all was in order. After returning home, I accessed the Bonvoy site to retrieve my bill for expense reimbursement purposes only to discover that although invoices for all other stays at Marriott properties were accessible, there was none for the Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City. So I sent an email explaining the situation. No response. I then tried calling and left a voice mail with the General Manager. Again no response. I guess if I wanted to be ignored, I could have checked into a Motel 6 and saved a lot of money.

Hotel has just come through a complete renovation - staff is so enthusiastic and proud of the changes! Everyone was so welcoming. Dinner in the new restaurant “Sante” was terrific — Mediterranean inspired — inventive and just delicious. The room has been redone and is beautiful calm colors. Just right for us weary travelers.

My wife and I were very excited to have a short weekend away from the kids. We found the Ritz and thought it was an amazing price, which is was for good reason. Before we arrived my Marriott app was showing an upgraded room, but when we arrived it had disappeared and we could only get a standard room. Luckily I took a screenshot to prove it really did that. The lady at the front desk was pushy and acted like I was just lying to try and get a better room. But, we didn’t bother with it and just took the room. Once we got to the room we regretted our decision to stay there. There was a layer of dust on the headboard, paint peeling in the bathroom, and I think this hotel was probably last renovated in 1990. Not what we expected from a Ritz. After the trip I called the hotel and got the manager, she apologized for the issues. The only thing she offered was 10k Marriott points, but I thought that didn’t really cover the issues and asked for at least 20k points, which I think was being nice considering the condition of the room. Forward ahead 2 months later. After multiple emails and one phone call to the hotel and even Marriott…no response and no points. I will never stay at this property again!

We checked in and got a 12th floor room, which had a beautiful view of DC..Mall next door was very convenient. Staff was friendly and professional. Room was big and very clean, but for a Ritz it has some maintenance flaws that must be addressed. The holes in the plaster in the bathroom wall had been fixed in several places, but apparently by a novice which took away from the rest of the room. The bed was great and slept well. No refrigerator....well that we could use...they had a wet and dry bar...for a price, but nothing for personal use and even had a sign saying don't put personal items in their fridge....including medicine....WOW...Meds...really...didn't have that issue but could see if someone did that would be a major issue...WTH??? And there is parking....if you plan to stay here, which I would not say not to, but parking $45 a day....and you really have no choice. Once you pull into the hotel, you will know immediately there is NO WHERE TO PARK...Valet staff did a great job managing the amount of cars incoming/outgoing..but this space is SMALL keep that in mind, and don't forget the idiots that are entitled to go before you in the Rovers or Benz' or so they think and if you're one of them, well guess you need to wait your turn in line.....as shocking as that may come to you Rovers/Benzers/etc...
