I booked two double queen suite rooms to be adjoined. I asked three times before 3:00 if my rooms were ready and all staff failed to inform be that the room style I booked could not be adjoined. My check in was at 3:00 and my first room was not available until 3:30. At 3:30 the staff did not check my credit card or ID and an incorrect card was charged. The staff said my second room (that I was expecting to be the adjoined room with the same floor plan I booked) would be ready at 4:30 and they would call me - an hour and a half past my check in time. No one called me so at 4:30 so I went to the front desk to get my second room and this was when they decided to tell me I was not going to get the adjoining rooms that I booked. They looked for what was available and had an option on a different floor or I could get a single king room on the same floor as my current room. Since I had a large party of people I went with the smaller room on the same floor so we would not be separated. This makes me think that they actually had no room for my second reservation since they never called me and “had to look for what was available” when I asked about my reservation. Then they checked my card and I was able to enter the correct credit card. They charged me a full price for the room they had to change my reservation to because of their incompetence. When someone from my party went to go speak with the manager about how horrible our stay experience was he hold her “you can go stay at a different hotel”. To top off this horrible experience with the staff - a maid walked into my room at 11:00 when I had check out at 12:00. She entered unannounced to my room where my friend was standing naked in the bathroom with the door open because she had just gotten out of the shower. She also entered the other room I had booked at 10:45 am with a 12:00 check out time. Luckily, no one was standing in the bathroom indecent. The experience with the staff at this hotel was extremely bad.

We had a good stay overall; good service and enjoyed our room. Room was a suite with king bed, sofa bed and kitchen, it’s small but enough for 2 adults and our kids. The room was clean, unlike some reviews our room was thoroughly clean. King bed was comfy, but sofa bed was rather thin. Checking in was awkward because I went to 3rd floor for Element, but it was closed so had to go down to 2nd floor. It was a round counter so not sure where to wait. Anyhow, staffs looked around their shoulders and entertained me when they saw my confused look. When asked for extra towels, next sofa bed cover and extra pillows, they were sent within 10-15 mins. Valet waiting about 5 mins, it was better to ask for our car at the lobby. I shopped around, but $49 for valet was worth the price. Self park over night will cost $30? or thereabout so just pay the extra bucks; it’ll save you time and the hassle. The service and food at Caroline was superb, I’m glad we tried dining in there, thanks Aaron! Highly recommend staying at the Element.

I honestly don’t even know what to say. I’ll start by saying that I have never written a bad review in my life. Yes I’ve had bad experiences in private businesses throughout my life, but I rarely write a bad review because I feel so guilty about it. This time, I cannot hold back. The worst was when I did laundry in the communal laundry room. It’s a modern hotel; you’re thinking big laundry room, lots of modern machines, “credit card accepting”, etc. This room was a closet with only one dryer and one wash working. I also found out I needed quarters and the front desk had NONE so I had to go to 3 stores before finding someone who would exchange my cash for quarters. I wash my clothes, all is good and dandy, until I go to move my clothes to the dryer and find that they are COVERED IN STOOL. I will say the woman at the front desk, Taylor, at the time was super helpful. She offered to get my clothes washed professionally on the house. Honestly, I wanted to burn my clothes at that point, but I hate being a hassle, so I agreed. I also would like to add that I found the place to get them rewashed on my own and that should have 100% been on the hotel. In addition to this unfortunate situation, I had to call about 4 different times in order to check in on my reimbursement check. When I finally said I was checking out and I’m still waiting on it, my check was ready that day, 3 weeks out from the incident. No one was willing to help me with this except for an employee named Madi who called me on her day off to tell the check was ready and I applaud her for that. She was fantastic. Honestly nothing can top that, but adding on, the breakfast, although free, was awful. A sausage, egg and cheese? Sounds like a great New York style breakfast! Not here! It’s a literal hotdog cut in half and stuffed into some sort of Pillsbury dough pastry… Like are you guys okay?? Later on during my stay, I was expecting something super important in the mail and asked that when it came in, someone could call and let me know… nobody called. Just say you’re busy and can’t make any promises next time please. To add onto this, I also had 2 packages delivered that seemed to get lost. When I finally went down to the front desk a week later and talked to someone about how I was upset two of my packages were lost, they were “miraculously found” 5 minutes later. What made me plan out this exact review, is when I finished using the gym and I returned a key card that somebody left in the treadmill cup holder, and the woman at the front desk literally did not even acknowledge me. I don't know if you guys are treated poorly here or what, but except for the few people I've mentioned, most of the staff was unfriendly and annoyed most of the time. Maybe I was annoying, but like you would be to if you were in my situation. Some smaller things: the wifi sucked and some of staff would consistently pull down their masks or not wear one at all. I know it’s not like mandatory in Texas, but you guys are in a stage 5 pandemic right now just FYI. Believe it or not, I am actually a pretty happy and positive person 99% of time, so unfortunately I would not feel right without acknowledging the people that made me feel comfortable here: - The woman at the front desk that helped with my laundry situation (Taylor) - The other woman at the front desk (Madi). She was just absolutely amazing. - The people (and the food) at Caroline’s - The coffee/breakfast staff on the first floor - The cleaning staff - The bartenders (emphasis on ONLY the bartenders) at the lounge area on the 2nd floor - The valet dudes… I’ve never used the valet but they’re also so friendly. I know this is a lot to read, but I couldn’t help myself this time. I’ve never experienced something this bad before in my life. I really hope that this gets read and some major changes take place, but until then, I don’t ever recommend staying here. Thank you and have a great life Element Austin Downtown.

When we ran into an unexpected snag with our car, Drue and Carlee were extremely helpful. Drue helped me get the tire inflated so I could get it to the rental agency. Carlee helped move all my son’s college stuff from one car to the other. Thanks Drue and Carlee.

We came to Austin for a friends wedding while keeping up with work for a few days. The Aloft hotel was a wonderful place to stay, with a great restaurant and bar experience located on the second floor of the hotel. One of the best parts of our trip was the concierge Madeline, who checked us in when we arrived our first day. Throughout our weekend, Madeline let us know the best places to eat and the what local spots to check out with the time we had available. She was very helpful and even gave us a map she had worked up of some of the best places to eat. We can’t wait to make our way back to Austin again soon!
