Parents and I visited Quezon City for a night around the Trinoma area. We didn't have any plans other than booking a hotel nearby at a really low price since only need a place to sleep and shower. Found Harts Hotel on Google Maps and we immediately checked in. It's a love hotel, should have checked the reviews beforehand. We paid a little more than 1,500 pesos with an extra bed. Should have known, we asked for a family room and they looked at us funny "Sorry... We don't have a family room". Just glad that the painting of the lady on the wall wasn't too revealing and my parents sort of ignored the huge mirror on the wall. Glad the only thing I heard at night was the AC and not any other man made noise. You can take a trike from the hotel to SM which was a thumbs up. Pretty clean, but definitely wouldn't check in with the parents in the future.

They don't seem to value privacy here. We stayed here and a bellboy suddenly opened our door and enter our room without knocking or doorbell. Very frustrating. And the receptionists here are all unprofessional.

My wife and I made the mistake of spending a night in Quezon City, whose cultural, hipster, urban vibe was praised by Lonely Planet. We didn't find any such vibe, but I'm glad to have found this hotel available on short notice. The lobby and staff seemed very nice, but the first impression of our room was... daunting. It was reasonably clean and equipped, but there was a big mural of a scantily clad woman on the side wall. And when we gazed upward, a big mirror on top of the bed. In hindsight, this is pretty normal for budget to midrange hotels in Manila (which on average are worse than Harts). Still, in spite of these, ahem, features, there's nothing shady about this hotel. We saw a few of the other guests going in and out, most were young couples (the murals aren't exactly fit for children) but no sign of any weird stuff going on. It just seeemed like a really discreet hotel, which was good, because it was really quiet in our room. Bottom line: if you're bored of the predictability of your standard hotel chain, try this place. It's also pretty cheap. All the prices on these booking websites are bogus, the actual price advertised on a big sign above the main entrance is 1200 php for 24 hours. Or 380 php for 12 hours on a weekday, if that's your thing.
