My husband and three-year-old son stayed in one of the bayside rooms on the sixth floor. The room was in order and looked clean. I was disappointed because they didn't provide toothbrushes, toothpaste, and shampoo. Only 2 soaps were provided. For the price of 3500/night it was OK considering it's accessible to Roxas Blvd and landmarks such as the Manila Zoo (for my kid) and CCP.

A plus was the receptionist told me that he'll give me a discount on our next stay. They have these index cars where you write your info so I guess, that's their way of tracking visits and possibly, a discount.

Good hotel in a great location. Make sure to get the 5th or 6th floor only. The other floors are in poor shape.

Cockroaches and pests abound the rooms. Food is not authentic Sichuan as claimed and tastes awful. The y just spice everything up to claim Sichuan cuisine. Location is average. The front staff is friendly, though.

We were passing through on the way to the States from Cagayan de Oro City and had to spend the night. (We'd have done better on the street.) The beds were caved in from YEARS of use. The almost non existent air had no remote. When I asked for one a bellman came, adjusted the air and refused to leave the remote. (The TV had one but it didn't work.) The hot water wasn't and on and on and on... Never again. We wanted to order in pizza but it was against the rules for delivery. We had to order and go wait in front of the place so the guard wouldn't chase Pizza Hut away.

After check in we went to our room and saw cockroaches in the hallway. Room was so so and not as nice as the pictures show on the web site. The linens were soiled and were small single beds. The TV cable line was broken and would have to fix to watch TV.
The breakfast buffet is for local filipino's only. The chicken pieces my four year old son received were bloody and uncooked. When we told the manager we were ignored. Buffet not worth additional cost. Will not stay again.

After a long week trip from Boracay, we decided to spend another week in Manila before flying back to Hong Kong. I spent almost half-day making oculars in different hotels along bayside. Among the many 3/4 star hotels that I've been through, Aloha hotel beat the others in terms of staff service, room coziness, convenient location and above all - budget friendly for the whole family. Traveling in & out of Mall of Asia was as comfortably easy as riding on a Calesa in Chinatown. Although there are newly renovated carpeted rooms on the top floors, we chose the non-carpeted room on the lower floors as we prefer shiny wooden flooring - perfect for kids like ours who are rather allergic to carpets. Staying in one of the bayview rooms in Aloha hotel is as spectacular as in Hyatt hotel & Casino where we stayed for 2 days before going to Boracay. I was just lucky to have the chance to actually look, see and feel the difference first hand before deciding where to stay.
For people who would want their money's worth, do check this hotel out before venturing to a more expensive and commercialized ones. You'll be glad you did!

Traveled extensively to the Philippines in the mid '90s. Always stayed at the Aloha Hotel when in Manila back then. Good location, right around the corner from the Aristocrat Restaurant and Malate Church, right on Roxas about 15 minutes from the airport. The hotel was smallish, competent, reasonable and clean. Went back to visit the Philippines with my daughters this summer and stayed one night at the Aloha. Things have changed. The toilets ran all night, the beds were urine stained and had a funky smell, the room reeked of cigarette smoke and the Chinese restaurant was absurdly expensive for Manila. Because of past visits I had every reason in the world to like the Aloha but the hotel is past it's prime, everything is rundown and in need of refurbishing.

I used to really like the Aloha but sorry to say I've had my last stay there.

Staying in this hotel was a very big disappointment to me, considering I paid "extra" just to get the "sea view" option for my room hoping it would give me a relaxing sea view of manila bay.. unfortunately I cannot even open the curtain of my room because when I do that.. people on the parking lot of the hotel would feast on the view of my room! The water on the toilet won't stop dripping and it was sooo irritatingly noisy. To top it all, the light on my hallway flickered in the middle of the night.. thus I was not able to sleep! Choosing this hotel was such a big mistake :(
