It is a christian pension. P e you cannot buy alcohol (like beer) there. Instead that soft drinks, good coffee and even milk. It is cheap there. Same breakfast and lunches, pizza aso are simple but good and not expensive. One night (3 am) I went there and just walked into the kitchen (after the reception) and was astonished, the kitchen was clean and equipted as good as a good and profesional ktchen in a restaurantr in Europe.
You are in the middle of the tourist centre so malls, Parcs, Nightlife, thousand (?) restorants, several hospitals, kindney dialyse centre, Oceanium, embassey of USA,Casino´s, 5 and 4,3,2,1 star and too dirty cheap stays Zoo, Intramuros old city centre, churches, temple aso are all very near, like 10 taxi minutes cost 50-60 peso to max 100 peso.
Natividad is indeed a safe, clean and friendly and honest service oase. They have post-card service. We advised always our friends to book there when they visited us for some days or weeks. Special when people are new in Azie and have not the money to rent a 4-5 star hotel this is the best solution.
Note: it is true when you leave the compound you see street people, living there everywher, but where in manila you do not see them. And Natividad gives them food so they will not bother you. TIP: If people are begging you just say: patawaran (Sorry, I do not give) this is a very polite way to say no. To children you can say: alice what means go away.
Conclusion, simple but clean and good, 24 hrs food, very reasonable prives, good service, relaxed. Nice and safe sitting outside under trees. Christian (no alchol served and no bargirls every day to your room).
My wife (is from Manila) is going to check August 2015 the renovation of our appartment nextdoor of Natividad for 2 weeks, and we booked for her 2 weeks in Natividad.
Another tip: if you want you can let come the money changer come to Natividad. A good one is Nailas in Mabinistreet. Let the reception call them and say howmuch you want to change and let them bring it to you in Natividad. Give the person who brings the money a tip 100-150-200 peso. And a little tip for the reception like 50 peso.
Ask for small bills when possible like 20, 50, 100 peso. You need them a lot for taxi, tip, buying small things like hotdog, donuts, cola and so on.
Have a nice and good stay !! J and V from Holland.
The lack of amenities changes the focus from self interest to interest in others, and the diversity of the clientele, and the relationships formed whether long term or short term are much more interesting than the short programming of a movie, television show, news program, or documentary. Television and other entertainment which are known as amenities cannot replace real and meaningful relationships, and usually distract from the development of those relationships unless enjoyed with those we are in relationships with.
If pools, spas, and television is what you are interested in there are innumerable hotels and resorts in which to stay, and they would be a better choice. But if you are looking for a peaceful serene atmosphere in which the focus is on people rather than the chaos of what is going on in the city and the world outside the gates of the Natividad, then you can find no better temporary dwelling in all of Metro Manila!
One thing is immediately evident when temporarily dwelling at Natividad, and that is the serenity of the facility even in the daily routine of the serving of the diversely interesting clients and even amid construction renovations for the comfort of the clientele, the serenity is remains unbroken.
As a young person growing up in the southern region of the United States, my father was fond of saying, "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" Thanks Gabi and staff for not changing! It is people like you who make the quality of Life for others better and enrich the lives of others whether they realize it or not. You are changing lives by not changing the atmosphere of your hotel, and a changed life is more miraculous than moving a mountain!
There is a prayer called the Serenity Prayer which goes as follows: "Grant me and the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference." The true wisdom of serenity is knowing that there are some things which should not be changed, like the atmosphere of the Natividad!
Thanks again Gabi and staff! Please, never change until you are changed from this present Age to the next Age!
Sincerely,
R. E. Byrd
Then don’t complain.
Hectic internet connection, unfriendly staff, and a lot of noise.
You may find easily better places in the area
The only good point is the proximity of shops and restaurants
They say to put your belongings in the locker, but you have to pay per day use (even using your own padlock). Also this was the first place (after 5 months travelling in SE Asia) where they charge to luggage storage. Even I had to leave in the storage a very small bag, still you pa 10 pesos per day! Plus towel, and whatever else they can charge. I booked the female dorm thinking it was 6 beds, when I got there it was 16! So the bathroom was ever really clean.
Besides, that in the street they are located and around is full of homeless people, drug addicts and I just felt very unsafe.
The staff is super friendly, over all this place is fantastic! I'll stay here every time I come into town!
Remember this, wifi is only in the main lobby, that's a little frustrating, but it does make for a Bette mr rest!
Wish they had wifi in the rooms and not just the lobby, but maybe that is too much to ask in this price range.
Felt very safe inside the property, however, right outside the gate is Manila's red light district and walking around after dark was a bit uncomfortable as a solo traveller.
They have an onsite cafe with good, affordable meals and given that I did not feel safe in the area after dark, I had most dinners there. One night they had pizza which was quite yummy!
They have reception and the cafe open 24 hours. Close to the airports (domestic & international) close to intramuros and the mall.
It is a great option if you are on a budget or backpacking.
"Make sure when getting a taxi to the airport that the security guard asks for a meter as taxi drivers rip you off and charge twice as much."Read full review
