They claimed to be a newly refurbished 5-stars hotel but everything is still very old. Referring to the photo they provided on Agoda, I choose the studio room because of the design where the bathtub is facing the bedside, I was imagining myself watching TV while soaking in the tub. I like the big bathtub with the mirror too. Unfortunately, they sealed the wall with matt glass. They should change the photo not to mislead people. While the fridge is not cooling, the maintenance said it was an old fridge need time to cold but after a half-day, the water bottle inside the fridge is warmer than the water in the room. I have to call them the 3rd time until late evening to have the fridge changed. The bathrobe is not provided as stated in the room facilities. The slippers, iron, hairdryer, and electric kettle were provided. No shaver or comb. Sorry to say, if I had a choice I don't feel like coming back.

Dear Ms Jenny, Firstly, thank you very much for your 4 star review, and a mention on our friendly staff. Most importantly, the team and I are truly regretful that we have failed in according you a memorable hotel experience. Matters such as defects and a complete room set up is key, and we will address these urgently. In explanation on the renovated rooms, only one room category (Studio Heritage) has been renovated , the Studio you selected is not a renovated room. Your point on the glass panel was done as a result of feedback, and yes, we should edit the picture on the website which we will do . Once again, thank you for taking the time to post your feedback, and I do hope that you are able to give us an opportunity to welcome you back to Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur . Sincerely, with best regards Sharmini Moganasundram General Manager Mobile : +6012 301 8136 Email : gm@hotelmaya.com.my

Booked the Junior Suite just because I wanted the deep bath tub, which was great! The rooms itself felt old and a bit run down. There is an Aristo coffee machine but capsules are not provided due to no stock. Bath math and face towels not provided in the room, had to call and ask them to send. We arrived early and managed to check in early, and got a late check out at 1pm, thank you very much!

The breakfast was ok, not bad. All their staff from reception, housekeeping, doorman are very friendly and approachable. This hotel is within walking distance to Saloma Link and KLCC.

My husband had an event to run at the W Hotel Kuala Lumpur and thought it was a good idea for us to make the trip together to KL and spend a few days there. The rates for rooms at W was just insanely high, so we kept looking around to see if there were any hotels nearby W and came across this little gem just a stone's throw away.

The getting in was a tad bit confusing but not a big fuss. The rooms were more beautiful that I expected them to be, very clean and offered decent views from the windows. I was genuinely surprised by how nice the room was, for the price we paid.

While waiting for my hubby to finish up his event, I decided to take a stroll up to the roof top to check out the bar they had there. Not expecting much, I was very casually dressed and felt seriously undressed when I arrived at location. The bar had stunning views of the twin tower, full on music, nice decent crowd and good bar prices!

A definite stay-again location for us when we come back to KL again.

Stayed in this hotel for 2 nights (2023 Jan 28-30).I am at a loss how this hotel can be described as 5 star, I have stayed in many hotels throughput the world and I can best describe this hotel as 2/3 star at the very best, the entrance is very Uninviting the decor is way past it’s best and the hotel is in need of an urgent full renovation. On check in after we had booked and agreed a price on Booking.com in the UK the receptionist was extremely rude and tried to charge us more than agreed price, after more than 30 minutes we managed to sort out this problem, our room was up to 2 or 3 star standard, I used the bathroom on reception area and even 1 of the 2 hand washing taps were not working, the pool is very very small and water ice cold. The only thing that I found reasonable was the breakfast which was acceptable, please be aware if you want a 5 star hotel there are many in KL far better for the same price

On arriving we checked in and went to our 13th floor room. Dirty table, stains on mirrors in bathroom a floor which had not been vacuumed and dirty water glasses. Receptionist came up to room and took some photos on her phone and gave us a room on the 19th floor. There we found the most disgusting bed I have ever seen in my life. A five star hotel having such dirty stained mattresses is beyond belief. My advice is stay away. Looks stylish but everything is falling to pieces. Even insects all over the room and that was on the 22nd floor. Fire the management and do some serious cleaning before someone gets really sick at your hotel.

For central KL attractions Hotel is hard to beat. Problem is that the management seems to have decided to stop spending needed money on refurbishment. Also at the rated 5 Star level(???) two towels per room and no information whatsoever in the room seems 3* ish to me. Staff however are kind and welcoming - guess it’s not their fault management gave up.

Hotel Maya is listed as a 5 star hotel and many of the claims of the hotel & room are incorrect.

Not only this, but the room was filthy, and uncomfortable and basic things like the toilet and air conditioning were not working adequately.

They have 2 different types of rooms, the heritage rooms have been renovated but guests were still complaining about these rooms as well as the studios I had. But the non renovated wing definitely cannot pass for even 3 star standard.

I have photos of the condition and the following were not in the room or property even though they are listed on booking.com

Bathrobes, slippers, hairdryer, laptop safe, satellite channels, power outlets near the bed and concierge services.

The air conditioning was loud but completely insufficient, it was on high and 16 degrees the entire time and the room didn’t get below 26 ever. The wifi was so slow that even an audio call would cut out, and any video would buffer every few seconds. Our toilet was completely broken and I called to have it fixed and they came and replaced parts taking an hour, but the flush still had to be held for the entire refilling process of the cistern every time. I asked for a better room to which they said there wasn’t.
The floor was uneven and sticky
The elevators were not all working and you would wait a very long time.
The photos will show of some of the cleaning issues but things like the pillows were stained and brown and one smelled like urine.
There were hairs on the bedding and in the bath, the shower hadn’t been cleaned. It was disgusting.
I had asked them to arrange a pick up from the airport which they refused said it was cheaper to take a taxi. That’s not up to them to decide what I will pay for.

The entire experience was horrific.
But they are clearly misrepresenting the accommodation standard provided

Hotel Maya opened its doors in the mid-nineties, we have had several renovations, with the recent being our rooms (Heritage Category) which was refurbished in 2020 during the pandemic. We'd booked two nights but due to flight issues only stayed one night at Hotel Maya. The hotel staff were really friendly on arrival, helping us change our money to smaller denominations, recommending where we should go and posting our postcards for us. There was even a porter taking our cases to our room.

The room was comfy, lovely view of the towers in a wallength window and decent air con. The bathroom had a full length window into the room as well, presumably so you can shower whilst still enjoying the view.

The location is great, right near to the Petronas Towers and taxis take you everywhere in KL. If you download the Grab app most 10 minute journeys in the city will be around £3. There's also a very cheap authentic food market opposite the hotel open 24 hours which was delicious and £6 for two meals!

It's a great place to base yourself in Kuala Lumpur and would recommend.

I was attending an event yesterday in this hotel, there were a lot of free alcoholic drink provided by event manager, but yet some people got another drinks for free which weren't included . When i asked for another drinks, the two bar tenders just ignored me in a bad way. I asked them twice. The third time I asked he responded me very rudely: We have that but I have to charge you!!!!
Well how should I know that , that drink is not included? Since he was giving any other drink to a malaysian girl who was flirting with him?
He kept serving all, since I was the only non-malaysian person there, he wasn't willing to serve me! After a while i asked him to serve me just the wisky that is provided, he rudely asked me: oh you cab drink this? So why did you ask for vodka?
I mean duh !!! Should I answer to him?
He was the rudest bar tender I've ever seen.
As a 5star hotel they should be more vigilant about who they hire!! If you can't respect all people the same, if you're still racist and don't know how to serve everyone nicely without judging them, you cannot work in a 5star hotel or any other service position.
I'm so disappointed with their choice of bar tender
He racially disrespected me
I believe in karma ...
good luck with that

Hi Miss Nathalia. Happy New Year from Malaysia. Thank you for your enquiry. I'm not sure if Hotel Maya needs guest to provided vaccination proof or not. From 1st August 2022, all travelers are allowed to enter Malaysia regardless of their COVID-19 vaccination status and do not require a pre-departure or on-arrival COVID-19 test. There are no quarantine orders related to COVID-19 enforced by the Malaysian Government upon arrival. For further enquiry, kindly email to the Hotel Maya for detail documentation. Thanks. Fadzilah

Hi Abhijit, Since iam also an indian, I totally understand the dilemma when it comes to the diet of a child in the family. You can totally carry a small rice cooker for your child. The room is quiet spacious and i don't see a problem. Mostly you will be out during the day and will come to the hotel to sleep only, however the cleanliness and other amenities are important - Though - they are not the best but they are not the worst also. Go ahead and enjoy your holidays. Cheers
