The room we stayed in had 3 beds. And it had sufficient room for us and our luggage. Most everything was to our liking, but there was a lack of finesse when it came to room preparation and initial cleanliness. We noticed that there were items on the floor left by precious guests, and the carpets weren’t as thoroughly vacuumed as they could’ve been. On the flip side, the room was well taken care of by housekeeping services, as they did a masterful job in keeping our room stocked with bottled water, towels, in addition to freshening up the room. Indeed, we found the hotel staff to be cordial at all times.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and would easily recommend it for any tourists needing a good, solid place to stay in Kyoto.
In the hall there is a small area open from 2pm to 8pm where you can relax while sipping a hot drink for free.
The room we were assigned (eighth floor) is very large by Japanese standards. Possibility to take in a small room on the floor ironing board and iron. Well connected by bus to the Gion area.
Friendly staff attentive to guests' needs.
😡 In the corridor on the eighth floor there was a very strong smell of smoke which is very annoying for non-smokers or those subject to ergic.
😀 Great location, the hotel is close to the airport shuttle bus, Kyoto station and close to the bullet train! Right next to Don Quito which is open 24 hours. Opening my room door I was surprised to see a very weathered room which was also still using white lighting instead of warm lights. The carpet was old and I immediately knew I was in a 3 star hotel. The wifi was not stable and I thus my sim data was used up pretty quickly. They said there was nothing they could do to fix this. Additionally my bed had hair on it that wasn't mine.
I tried to cancel through the hotel and agoda on the first day to no avail. The staff also could not speak English and there was no manager in sight, only front desk staff. Finally after the second night agoda let me know their Japan team was finally able to get a hold of the hotel staff and I cut my 5 night stay to a 3 night.
Everyone has different standards for hotels but I wouldn't recommend this one personally.
But next to restaurants, convenience shops and stores, there are also connected channels to go.
The hardware specifications of the room are outdated, but the space is large enough, there are also various spare parts available for use.
Comparatively unfortunate is that there is no large bathroom, and a lot of rooms but less washing machine
If you make a Reservation, the price is not expensive and can be considered.
I booked a non-smoking single with breakfast for the 40th anniversary from our website, and I was grateful that it was a twin room on the day.
Breakfast didn't seem like a lot for the price, but it was nice to have the staff guide you through the table.
This was my first time staying here, but there was an event that forced me to make a poor assessment, so I will list it.
The curtains in the bathroom were quite old, and there was mold on the bottom of the bath. The condition suggests that it has been attached for quite some time. I guess he didn't wash it. Curtains are never expensive consumables, so why not replace them regularly for a year or so?
What was more surprising was that the beds were placed facing north. The bed is arranged in a north pillow condition. As a Japanese, sleeping in such a north pillow is usually unlikely.
I don't understand the ideology of the manager or the person in charge as to why the hotel has been established for more than 40 years and has such a north pillow arrangement. I want a firm explanation.
Staff won’t make the beds every morning, so it’s no different than staying in an AirBnB, but paying hotel prices. Some days, they wouldn’t even replace the complimentary water bottles, guess they just forgot.
On our first night, room temperature was very hot. We had to go down to the reception desk to complain (as there is no phone inside the room). The staff went up to the room to clean the AC filter, and then it was resolved. Such a thing should not require action from a guest, but just as there is no cleaning at the hotel, maybe there isn’t maintenance and quality checking either.
A very poor stay overall, their only strength being location, very close to the station. Would not recommend staying there, as other options are available for the same price.
There is no staff who can help you with luggage transport. At the entrance on a table there is everything that should be in the bathroom and that you need to take to the room.
There are Nespresso coffee machines available to customers that can be brought into the room. Different types of drinks are also available free of charge.
Typically oriental breakfast.
