Hotel Keihan Kyoto Grande located in the backside of Kyoto station (opposite Kyoto Tower) next to AVANTI shopping arcade where you can shop for Donki, Animate. ABC mart, GU and many more plus 7-11. Also if you travel from KIX by Airport Limousine Bus, bus stop is right in front of the hotel and you can also by returning tickets at the airport limousine counter inside the building next to the hotel. Room is big and bed is very comfy and if the hotel could eliminate lavatory smell and well vacuum in room carpet throughly would make it our 5 Stars for Kyoto.

We chose this hotel due to it being right next to Kyoto Station. It’s proximity puts this hotel within short walking distance to many shops and restaurants. We had added flexibility to visit the destinations we wanted to go to while being able to stay at the same hotel.
The room we stayed in had 3 beds. And it had sufficient room for us and our luggage. Most everything was to our liking, but there was a lack of finesse when it came to room preparation and initial cleanliness. We noticed that there were items on the floor left by precious guests, and the carpets weren’t as thoroughly vacuumed as they could’ve been. On the flip side, the room was well taken care of by housekeeping services, as they did a masterful job in keeping our room stocked with bottled water, towels, in addition to freshening up the room. Indeed, we found the hotel staff to be cordial at all times.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and would easily recommend it for any tourists needing a good, solid place to stay in Kyoto.

Upon booking on agoda it was marketed as a 4 star hotel and in Japan that generally means its pretty decent. When arriving there you are forced to check in with the machine even though the receptionist is right in front of you. Additionally the machine I was guided to only accepted cash for the room tax so on the end the receptionist had to check me in. After check in the receptionist didn't guide me towards the elevator so I went up the escalator and took the elevator from the banquet hall floor accidentally.
Opening my room door I was surprised to see a very weathered room which was also still using white lighting instead of warm lights. The carpet was old and I immediately knew I was in a 3 star hotel. The wifi was not stable and I thus my sim data was used up pretty quickly. They said there was nothing they could do to fix this. Additionally my bed had hair on it that wasn't mine.

We’ve been to Keihan Grande in April 2023. It was the dirtiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in, from the hotel lobby to the rooms. There’s dust rolling everywhere, the windows opaque from all the dirt.
Staff won’t make the beds every morning, so it’s no different than staying in an AirBnB, but paying hotel prices. Some days, they wouldn’t even replace the complimentary water bottles, guess they just forgot.
On our first night, room temperature was very hot. We had to go down to the reception desk to complain (as there is no phone inside the room). The staff went up to the room to clean the AC filter, and then it was resolved. Such a thing should not require action from a guest, but just as there is no cleaning at the hotel, maybe there isn’t maintenance and quality checking either.
A very poor stay overall, their only strength being location, very close to the station. Would not recommend staying there, as other options are available for the same price.

Very convenient location and overall good. Service was fine, the auto checking machine was a bit confusing to me so a staff person helped me anyway. Room temperature was always settled in “heat” so it was hot to me, they suggested me “open the window” it did help. Most of the time I was out so it was good for what I needed it as a traveler.

Nice looking hotel, but rooms way too small. Triplet rooms were only available and there was not even enough space to even lay one down on the floor, let alone open one. The sanitaries are not given, and have to collect them from reception daily. My other point is that there are no bedside tables and only 2 of the 3 beds have access to charging ports, which are just suspended in mid air. There's no space to rest items/drinks except the headboard. However the view is nice and managed to sleep well. Great location, being next to Kyoto Avanti shopping center, the shinkansen station, and Don Quijote. However, breakfast is not included and had to go to the 7 Eleven next to it (connected right outside the door!)

I think check in is anytime after 3 PM. We arrived around 5 PM and it was fine.
