Mega hotel, above Kyoto station, a sprawling metropolis, wonderful designed station with all amenities Takes a while to navigate around, but fantastic access to transport links and bus station (which is often quicker than Metro) is right outside. Many Shrines and temples are in walking distance Breakfast buffet, lots of choice but a busy restaurant. I would say a business hotel, best asset is the location. Lots of hotels nearby that would likely give as good an experience. Easy to walk of the train and in to the hotel…..

Pros: Location, location! Very nice rooms. Very nice restaurants and buffet within the hotel. Cotaciel was especially delicious. Access to loads more dining options in the station. Attentive staff. Comfortable bed. Wifi was strong enough to stream. Cons: DO NOT PAY EXTRA for club lounge access -- it was very disappointing, not even close to worth the money (the concierge in the lounge was helpful, so were the concierges in the lobby). Long long corridors leading to more long corridors to get to your room (which is good if you want to get your steps in). Soothing lighting in the room, but not great for make-up application. Chairs in the room weren't comfortable for sitting longer than a short while. All-in-all, pretty good, but when I return, I'll try a different hotel, hopefully one with a REAL lounge.

PROS: 1. Conveniently located within Kyoto station 2. Large clean rooms with a lot of amenities 3. Accommodating and warm personnel. They have the initiative to immediately approach us to ask if we need anything when they see us going towards the front desk and during our check-out they automatically asked if we want them to keep our luggage. 4. Great in-room breakfast! We tried both Japanese and American set menus. Special mention to their croissant which was as good as the ones we had in the boulangeries in Paris! CON: 1. A bit of a language barrier during our stay: Case 1: Husband had an episode of epistaxis, I phoned the front desk if they could connect me to the clinic, the answer I got was "Ah! No clinic, no clinic. Sorry, " so I assumed they thought I had the wrong number? Or maybe the hotel does not have a clinic? Case 2: I called room service to tell them that we are finished with our breakfast and they may now clear our plates, the staff on the other end of the line thought we were ordering breakfast and told us that there is no more breakfast and we could check the TV for the lunch menu.

Super busy and popular hotel with views of the city, modern rooms and great service. After a bit of a journey by bus from Osaka Kansai airport, we arrived and walked through Kyoto station to get to the hotel. Check-in was relatively fuss-free; though our room was not ready yet. After lunch and a walk about, we made it back to the hotel and our room. Our room was on the lounge floor and we had lounge access. These rooms are modern Japanese styled; modern with a touch of Japanese flair. Rooms are good sized and gave us enough room to walk around without bumping into each other. We had a king-sized bed which was comfortable and the pillows provided were perfect. It did take us awhile to get the room temperature right. There’s a work table at the usual place by the window. There’s USB-charging stations at the table and on both bedside tables. The kettle is under the table. TV played only local stations with BBC and CNN for non-Japanese speaking guests. A single easy chair& ottoman faced out to the Kyoto hills. We had the Kyoto station side, but had no access to the balcony. There’s a sticker on the window stating that the emergency alarm will ring if doors are opened. The toilet/shower area is compact. There’s a single sink, toilet with usual Japanese bidet functions, a walk in shower and to the side, a bath tub. If you prefer Japanese-style, a plastic seat and water scoop is available. There are plenty of amenities available, together with shower gel, shampoo, Cao ditto we, face wash and moisturizer. Good amount of space around the sink for your personal items. There’s a fridge, kettle with tea and coffee options and beside this, a compact wardrobe space with enough hangers for jackets and clothes. There’s a 1 liter Tetra Pak complimentary water available. Extra water is chargeable. I used the gym and pool and access comes with the club rooms. Gym had a handful of treadmills and elliptical machines, a small free-weights station and a weights machine with three stations. Small but gets the job done. Also, since the weights area is small and nattiw, it gets filled up with 2-3 users. The pool was nice. Warm water in a heated environment. 20m in length, one can get a a good workout with laps done. I enjoyed the personalized service at lounge. Although limited in choice for breakfast, I could order my eggs and have it delivered to my table. There’s some hot food options and some cold items in the fridge. Pre-dinner drinks and snacks are worth the time spent here. Granvia Kyoto has plenty of food options in-house as well as in the train stations and surrounds. They’re a choice convenience stores nearby and plenty of shopping too. Being above the train station, it makes things super easy to get out of Kyoto or to visit a nearby prefecture. Service at the hotel is warm and very Japanese. Housekeeping Staff took great care of our room and made sure everything was just right. Service in the lounge was superb. Staff were all well trained and greeted us every time they saw us. Overall, a great stay at Hotel Granvia. Kyoto. Would recommend this hotel!

We stayed here for a few times and on this trip we stayed for 3 nights. We arrive in Kyoto in a rental car and there is a telephone to call the porter for luggage assistance on the ground floor driveway. Hotel lobby is on 2F of the train station. Superb location with easy access to trains, supermarket, shopping and restaurants. Kyoto is a walking city but this hotel location has accessibility to train, bus and taxis. The hotel is still in very good condition and the rooms are large by Japanese standards. The checkin was efficient. The staff was very helpful with even the little details like getting extra cutlery for a late night snack. We did not have breakfast at the hotel or try any of the restaurants as there were too much choices around. Overall, highly recommended hotel and a peaceful sleep.

Loved this hotel. We got a room on the top 15th floor facing the Kyoto Tower so the view was just amazing. our stay was so comfortable and the room was very spacious about 33 sq meters. Check in was smooth and quick. Being right inside the Kyoto Station was the best part for transportation of buses and trains. You can practically stay inside the station for your choice of restaurants and shopping since the Isetan department store is here. And Kyoto Tower is across the street for shopping There's a 7 11 konbini to the left after coming down the escalators that lead into the station. Once you get off your train, just follow the signs to the Hotel Granvia. If you are coming from outside the station, the escalators leading up to the lobby is right in front of the taxi stop. Very modern hotel, shower is luxurious with a 3 body shower spray, enough counter space for me and hubby, nespresso machine, lots of closet space and I really liked the counter space that was wide enough to fit 2 carryon luggages open and side by side. We didn't even have to unpack. I would stay here again

This hotel is conveniently located. Our suite was very nice. The staff was efficient and, except for the dining room where breakfast buffet is served, helfful and courteous. The atmosphere at the hotel is rather generic. The hotel seemed to service a number of tour groups and unlike other hotels we stayed at in Japan, this one seemed less gracious. The breakfast buffet definitely strikes on as being a cafeteria. The breakfast food was good and varied but the coffee dispensed by automatic coffee machines was atrocious. The concierge service was quite good.

Nicely located on top of the Tokyo train station, super busy area with many shops and restaurants nearby, we stayed in a double room, room was a bit far from the elevator, the smell of cigarettes was intense once I get off of the elevator to walk to my room.

The hotel is right inside the station complex so it's very easy to get to anywhere by train which was such a bonus for us as we travelled widely during our trip using Kyoto as a base. The bus station is also just adjacent. Rooms were good, slightly small but comfortable and everything worked well. We stayed in a club room and the club lounge was a welcome retreat from the crowds of Kyoto and we enjoyed the afternoon tea and cocktail offerings which were of high standard. The buffet breakfast could get very busy but had a wide offering although it could have been a bit more varied as each day was the same. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Being so close to the Kyoto Station, the Hotel is very well located when travelling by train. And the Bus and Metro services are close at hand for exploring the city and surrounds. The staff were very professional and friendly and the overall hotel experience was first class. We stayed for five days and would certainly recommend it for anyone wanting to stay in Kyoto.
