I was invited to a wedding and booked myself into this hotel for a week.
The place was clean and our room had direct access to the pool.
In the evening, we enjoyed a drink at the bar. It was rather quiet since not at the touristic season but we had some fun.

If again in the region, I will for sure book this place again and it is without any hesitation that I recommend it for a short stay.

Urban Sands is truly an oasis in the city. It's located in front of Iloilo City High School in a nondescript building. However the moment you go inside the gate, it feels like you have been transported to one of the resorts out of town. The pool and the beach vibe is definitely its biggest attraction.

I went with my family, and we had 6 rooms out of the 13 rooms this boutique hotel offered. And only 2 other rooms were occupied when we went, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. We enjoyed the night swimming and the private cabana provided for our family dinner and breakfast. Everyone enjoyed. The staff went above and beyond from the check-in to the checkout process.

Now for the cons, bathroom and room amenities can definitely be improved. I checked in a few days before our family staycation with a group of friends and unfortunately, the bathroom flush was not working when we checked in. I was petrified, knowing knowing that I will be back in a few days with a much bigger group. The staff said that the motor burst and they were working on it. We were frustrated, so we just left after checking in and came back at around 7:00pm. Thank God, the bathroom flush was working when we came back. I would have cancelled my family's reservation if it wasn't fixed by that time. Accidents happen, but I honestly haven't been to a hotel where the flush was not working.

Maintenance of the hotel can be improved for things like this and also the TV was not very clear. Not a big deal for me since we came for the pool, but needs to be fixed regardless, especially for long staying guests.

I would come back, but will make sure everything is working first=)

Iloilo isn't much of a beach getaway kind of place so Urban Sands was amazing for us. The pool was gorgeous and the staff was helpful with our needs 100%. The rooms were also beautifully designed, actually I'd say the entire place. The location was a bit odd lol, but I'd say this is a hidden gem in the busy city. We almost didn't want to leave the hotel. We had problems looking for it at first, because their entryway wasn't exactly screaming "Hotel Here!" so you have to keep your eyes out for it. It's a bit past the Robinson's Supermarket and on the left side if you're coming from Molo Church.

We made a booking in early September 2022 through Agoda, to stay Jan 19-23, 2023. This was confirmed. I then received an email on October 19, 2022 to say it had been cancelled because the place is fully booked! That's considered poor service, considering the room had already been confirmed. That left us with very limited choices to stay, especially at the time of Dinagyang.

Place looks adorable online. But the actual hotel was average, at best. My check-in process was better than my colleagues. It took them over an hour to get checked in and have their rooms ready. My check in was efficient. The room was cute. The AC worked well. The bathroom wasn't great. No bathroom counter to place your items on at sink. Limited towels. Like only a bath towel, no hand towels, etc. Shower was in the wide open. The water in the toilet was discolored so looked dirty.

The pool was entirely filthy but was cleaned while we were there. It did look cute at night and the landscaping, lighting and art was charming.

No one answered the phone when you dialed zero. No front desk staff was around to help, ever. No one knew how to get you on the wireless, wrong codes were given. When zero was answered, no one knew how to ring a guest room or transfer calls and I could hear them having random conversations for about 3 minutes while they were trying to learn the phone system.

I found a big brown hairy jumping spider in my bed, which completely eliminated my thoughts of actually sleeping in it. There were at least 4 other spiders in the room (and many mosquitos) and a few unknown bug types, too. I felt creepy crawly being in the room.

Sitting out by the pool, my friends and I were visited by frogs, lizards, a cat and a rat. And all of us were just eaten alive by bugs.

The hotel is also on a main street and across the street from a school. The traffic noise was unreal.

We decided to check out the next morning, and the hotel wouldn't let us leave as no one with authority to check us out was there. They said they called the manager but she never came. It wasn't until we were walking out the gate after waiting for 90 minutes to check out that someone (not the manager) came to give us our bill.

The customer service at this hotel is a joke. A complete joke. I travel to the Philippines monthly so I know that things are a bit slower paced but this whole experience was an all time low for slow service.

I wouldn't recommend this place unless you have absolutely nothing else to do but wait around for long periods of time and if you like bugs in bed with you.

The hotel is situated in the built up bit of town near the BIR office and amazingly well done in terms of hiding in the city. The rooms are all single story arranged around a very pleasant pool with chairs and tables for eating outside. Setting wise it is great.

Our rooms was a bit basic and some things like this shower could have worked a bit better, but overall it was nice enough.

Our key problem was food and the responsiveness of the staff. The manager was really helpful but when she went home it was less good. Food took quite a while to arrive and when we asked for vegetarian options they really couldn’t grasp this. Even when we tried to ask for a replacement dish after the staff made a mistake with our order they first said the kitchen was closed then wanted to charge us for their error. In fairness when the manager came back the next day they dropped 5e charge but the staff need a bit more guidance on how to do things.

So overall ok but could have been better.

I stayed at the Urban Sands in March 2015 and it was a disaster from check in to check out. When the room wasn't ready I looked in and saw how small they were and knew I wouldn't be staying the 10 days that I had planned to. There is no space to put anything. The mirror has bamboo criss-crossed all over it so you can't see to do anything. The water in the bathroom is a yellow color all of the time. There was no hot water in any of the rooms (we had four of the seven rooms). The pool was dirty, even after it was supposedly cleaned. After two of my friends saw big brown jumping spiders in their beds, we sat outside all night waiting on morning to come. During that time by the pool we saw a rat, a cat, lizards, frogs and were eaten up by bugs. At 7:00 we attempted to check out and it was like the Hotel California...you can never leave. This process took well over an hour. I was so hopeful yet so disappointed.

Nice place to stay in Iloilo City. Very homey and cozy. There are only 7 rooms in this B&B so the staff were able to accomodate us well. It's very near the city. Very near tatoy's and breakthrough restaurants. Two thumbs up. Will go here again in the future. :)

This is such a breath of fresh air in the middle of Iloilo City, you wouldn’t think it even exists. But we were lucky to be able to stay for a night and experience not just the relaxed and homey atmosphere but also the hassle-free and warm service. So congratulations to the manager Quincy and the rest of staff. You all made our stay so unforgettable!

Urban Sands is a great treat for all those who want to relax and unwind without living the city. You wont believed that an oasis does exist in the concrete jungle. Surrounded by palm/coconut trees with the Jacuzzi/pool as the center of the landscape.

The deluxe rooms were good and comfortable. Though they need to have a garbage bin in the room. The table outside the room is a good way to have your breakfast and dinner. While the Cabana is good for some intimate meeting with business partners. The bar has a typical carribean feel to it.

I'm not sure but I think if you need an extra bed they would accommodate you for an extra fee. Check out their website and drop them an email. A great choice of hotel in Iloilo.

I don't think so as the food menu is very yummy but I'm sure won't help anyone on a calorie controlled diet.
