In summary if you book this hotel in anything other than newly renovated rooms you need to look in a mirror as you will not sleep. The eco-hotel aka chalet is immeasurably better and half the price. The management are clearly incompetent, unfunded or taking as much as they can till they close it. I don’t know which. It gets 2 stars as the newly renovated rooms are sleepable albeit 2/3 stars standard and certainly not 4 star expectation. I know how the system works and why they get the 4* but don’t believe it represents anything other than the boxes ticked =4! I could write plenty more negatives but stay with the key faults! In 2014 I came here and was very impressed with what the hotel offered. It had some problems such as the rooms being tired and some of the carpets smelt of mould. I subsequently stayed several times in the chalet and was generally impressed. Then covid came and I was „banned“ from the Philippines for close to three years. Now I am back again and staying in the l‘Fisher again and trying the main hotel again to see the improvements! Lets start with the room. We tried 435, which was dark worn out with an air con which could not cope with the heat(its not yet summer) and two people staying inside. The bath fittings were rusty and the whole room was in a past tired state. It was motel standard. We complained and were offered 420, which was better and was only tired needing an upgrade. All fine we went to bed. The aircon was loud so we switched it off - night temp outside of 75F is fine. Suddenly the aircon burst into life with a very loud fan. I got up and unplugged it. The fan kept going. It was very loud - too loud to sleep. We called reception and were told it is the aircon outside which feeds the room downstairs so as long as their aircon is on it will keep turning on. We were then moved at 1am to another room in the newly renovated section. This room was at least modern on par with the chalet 5 years ago when I last visited with a better tv and better bed than there. The old fashioned and unusable bath was replaced with a walk-in shower which the staff it appears do not know how to clean. So from an accommodation perspective 2 to 3 star in the renovated rooms down to run down motel standard for the „super Deluxe“ on the fourth floor. Food is generally good and pretty Much as good as you can get in Bacolod. Service, friendly enough but a disaster. This morning there were three people in the restaurant and 8 serving staff. All of the staff were admiring their shoes and talking together rather than doing their job. In short the staff in the main hotel are far too many in number and all of them incompetent. Business centre - probably closed a few years ago as the equipment is prehistoric and there is no new paper to print out of the worn out drums. A mess. On the plus side- the chalet is still very nice, the massage excellent, the pool clean and the service in the pool bar very good. Further the smelly carpets have been replaced by tiles which is a positive.…
We booked a super deluxe double room for 3 nights and it wasn’t as it was in the pictures. The hotel’s grand lobby is a fake facade to an old rundown hotel. It’s a joke that they call it the best hotel in Bacolod as I think it’s now just one of the budget hotels in the area. Carpet is really old and and dusty. We complained about our aircon and the grimey toilet and asked for a better room since we paid a lot of money but the staff didn’t really say anything. We were also pressured to buy 2 bottles of water which cost 230 pesos! just because the staff didn’t understand British English. When we refused to buy it, they said that we have to as they have already charged it to our room. We felt like we were scammed. Not also respecting the sign outside our room, the staff knocked on our door to scam us with the water and gladly held the door wide open even though I was in my knickers at the time. Such a very unpleasant stay. I hugely don’t recommend and vow to never go back again!…
The room is fine, was clean and well-maintained but could use an upgrade. Would have preferred a king-size bed, but got two full-size beds, which was not too bad. It came in handy because we had a couples massage from the spa on the 4th floor. The staff members are attentive and responsive to requests for service/assistance. The Masskara festival happened on the street where the hotel is located. It was only a short walk to the capitol building and most restaurants. The buffet breakfast was loaded with local and imported food offerings, with plenty of fruits.
Good to see that the hotel is back to the high standards that were there pre covid. Renovated rooms, food and staff. A Special mention of Dalene in the main Resaurant who looked after my family and me for breakfast and evening meal (In-between guiding other guests to tables / cleaning and setting up tables a definite asset to the hotel staff !!!) The busiest weekend of the year the Mascara festival and the hotel ran like clockwork (But don’t tell the head chef lol he was very stressed but that’s why the restaurants were functioning at top speed !!!
Good points: 1. Within close proximity to major malls 2. Stable wifi For improvements: 1. Their "office chair" is the same as those in their dining area which is made of heavy metal including the back rest. Quite uncomfortable and heavy to move when you want to adjust sitting distance from tae 2. Their little sofa chair is heavily stained. Makes me wonder what caused it. 3. Nobody picks up their phone, including their front desk. While their housekeeping cannot be contacted at all. Tried several times, nothing happened. 4. No hair drier and flat iron in the room. 5. Their carpet on the hallways and stairs look shabby and smelly too. For the price of Php 5000.00, i sure expected something better than this. Their ads look promising, but far from reality
This is an old hotel although it does appear to be properly maintained. One thing I noticed in my several stays here whenever I'm on a business trip to Bacolod City is that there are guestrooms that have been renovated most recently, judging by the appearance of the room. Then there are rooms that stayed as is and just maintained regularly. I'd find myself lucky to be booked in a renovated guestrooms. Can't say the same when I chance upon an old room. My experiences in an old guestroom: aircon is not in tip-top shape (I'd be lucky if it actually cools the room), watercloset is not functioning (one instance, I had to fix the float-valve myself so I can get water to fill the tank for my use), shower heater is difficult to mix and there is a distinct smell in the room and the toilet that would tell you it's old. I would commend the service though and they provide a modest buffet breakfast, good enough to take me back to Manila after an overnight business sortie.…
The Location was nice, but the air-conditioning took 2 hours to even feel its merely cold breeze, it needs cleaning on a regular basis. bathroom was decent but the toilet flusher was broken, I had to fill its tub with water to flush. My consolation is The staff were friendly.
I had high expectations for this hotel given the price and being the first big hotel in the city. Quite popular too. I gave it a 2 because the staff are friendly. But the hotel, i would have given it a 1. Here's why: 1. Gross. At breakfast, i saw LIVE roaches crawling at the dining area. Can you imagine what else may be where customers have no access/view? 2. Freeze in the shower. Hardly any hot water! The first time I took a shower, there was some warm water but it comes and goes. So better be quick to move away when it gets cold. The succeeding times, boy oh boy, no more hot water. I had to turn the AC off so i don't freeze when I came out of the shower. 3. Bad connection. Their internet is very intermittent. If you stay in the hotel for online meetings, forget it. And in the morning, my devices are disconnected from the wifi. So in case of emergency and someone needs to get hold of me, i will be out of reach. 4. Rooms not well kept. Dark and hard towels. Signs of water leakage flowing through the ceiling, toilet covers detached, shower curtains with discolored edges, leaking faucet, discolored shower tiles, detached curtains, and a lot more. I didn't move to another hotel because it was so much of a hassle packing again. I just skipped breakfast and never bought food from them. Spent extra but learned a good lesson...never to come back to this hotel. I hope this helps. Well I may have a different expectation and needs so I couldn't say this is bad for all. In fact, I see a lot of foreigners here. But for me, I am done with them. …
This felt like home to me. The personnel and staff were very warm and accommodating. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to keep extending my stay in Bacolod and I'm glad I chose this hotel. It was in the center of everything (ATM, convenience store and majority of the iconic places of Bacolod. Everytime I needed something, the hotel staff were very willing to help, reach out and lead me to the right direction. They have a good salon, a pool and restaurants that you dont really have to leave anymore. This given the pandemic situation. Value for money and more!
Poorly maintained. Décor is tired and shabby. Rooms are very outdated and in need of repainting. We had problems with the toilet. The lift was temperamental. The price for the room was too high for the quality of the accommodation. The only saving grace was the politeness of the staff.
