The front desk staff was a bit rude and not helpful at all.. He didn't suggest anything and when i made the effort to ask questions, its as if he finds it amusing. The staff who showed us the room did not even turned on the air conditioner, he just put our bags and left. The fridge was empty and turned off. Me and my husband were very disappointed and decided that instead of staying there for the whole week, we checked out after 3 days and transfered to another hotel nearby. Will not recommend to our friends and will not go back either.

There is a reason that the Sugarland Hotel has been a mainstay in Bacolod for many, many years.... they have an excellent , friendly and helpful staff along with a great facility! Their free breakfast buffet is outstanding as is their room service. I stayed their for 1 month with my wife visiting her relatives. The only complaint I had was (typical in the Philippines) that we had to move to another room about once a week as the room we were in was "reserved". The hotel was very busy around Christmas and New Years with parties and weddings so I guess moving around can be expected. If you are on the lower floors you could sometimes hear a loud party being held in their meeting rooms. The front of the hotel can be noisy too with noise from the street. The 3rd floor "executive" rooms facing the pool were the quietest and the most enjoyable. As a side note..... a "matrimonial bed" is a king size bed in the Philippines! The Sugarland is only 5 minutes away from the local mall and now that the airport has moved I hear it is a quiet location. Security is excellent and we had no problems.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights before moving into a resort. We stayed at this hotel previously and it was a pleasant stay, however, this time around it was different. There has been a decline in the level of service that this hotel has offered.

The room was OK. We booked a Juinor Suite that looks down onto the swimming pool.

The breakfast buffet was not that great. There were only a few tables and the staff are not very attentive to the flow of guests having to have their breakfast. Very limited food choices. My husband stayed the first night as I was still travelling from Manila to Bacolod (from Sydney). My partner had to leave breakfast and elected to have his breakfast somewhere else because he could not even get a table for breakfast and the staff did not care to clear up the tables for other guest to utilise. I mean if you offer an included breakfast on your room booking, don't you think you would want to make sure that everyone ill be able to avail that service?

There were also a few functions and events during our stay that made it a little bit noisy and crowded.

Attention to detail should also be considered by the management. The Tap in our room was broken (needed some plumbing work). Housekeeping should be able to pick this minor repairs up and let the management know in order for these things to be fixed straightaway. It was not a much of a bother for us but considering that we stayed in a junior suite (2nd most expensive room in the hotel), this should have been fixed straightaway.

Overall, with our short stay, it was a good place to retreat in the evening after all the shopping and sightseeing around Bacolod. I will consider staying at another hotel in the city.

They have no clue on how to handle customer complaints. Instead of just owning up to your mistake and apologizing, they still tried to insist that they hadn't done anything wrong. Here's the deal, we were about to check out but when we saw the bill, it had additional charges which we didn't agree upon. We tried to clear things up but the person we spoke to was very rude and insisted that we were the ones who were wrong. Okay, the room was nice and all but the experience just got ruined by this one occurrence which could've been resolved with a simple "sorry".

The Sugarland Hotel is considered as one of the best hotels in Bacolod City for the past years, but it seems that recently their customer service has become discouraging. While they boast of their good food, the service has become relatively poor. The serving per head for buffet service has become very expensive and they are not flexible to adjust to our budget even with the many number of heads and the many events coordinated with them. Recently, when we booked for an event where we have our morning snack and lunch only, staying past 2 pm in their function room required us to pay for its usage. So we just have to wrap up early in order not to incur more charges. But I cant wrap up that easy the session, so we ended at 3 pm where I was billed for the excess use of the area, though there is no function to follow in such room. Annoying also, are the waiters waiting for us to end and for the tip which is required of us. For me giving of tip, is for the appreciation of the good service, not for a disgusting service. So disheartening!

At the start we were happy eventhough it's not that great a hotel but the service was good, but when it came for us to rest, the room we were placed in was above the pool area where there was a very noisy party, sleep was no longer possible for me. I would have appreciated it if they informed us before hand that noise will be an issue, but it seems all they want is to just get their rooms book for the money and not to provide their guests a pleasant stay. Very disappointed. By the way, wifi is not functioning, tv difficult to navigate needing 2 remotes, some pillows had a foul odor, shabby renovations done in dated rooms, it was just the wooden floor that was nice! I was hoping to be transferred to a quieter room but 2 of my kids are already asleep. We booked two rooms and both are really noisy.

Sugarland Hotel is really lovely. It's a quaint boutique hotel, one of the oldest (newly renovated) hotels in Bacolod. I had a single standard room with breakfast for 1600 PHP. I booked it locally, so maybe it is cheaper to do it that way instead of going through their website. The accommodations were great. Clean, comfortable bed...with wood floor. The shower could have used more water pressure, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Also, there is free wifi, but the signal in the room wasn't really strong. I was in 324 (third floor near elevator). They said they're working on getting better signal. The front desk and housekeeping staff were really friendly and super responsive for additional needs (you need to request a hair dryer). The breakfast options were delicious, and they had both Filipino breakfast options and American continental. You can pay night by night or in full for all the nights you're staying there. Across the street are some restaurants within walking distance and getting a cab isn't a problem. Safe area to stay.

This is not really a hotel more of a conference centre and wedding venue. We felt in the way last Sautrday when a wedding was in progress. The pool, which is really only a paddling pool was out of action because a wedding took place in the pool area.
Wifi is none existent in the bedrooms rooms and extremely slow in public areas. Air conditioning in the rooms was extremely noisy and unhealthy. Air conditioning was also very poor in other areas of the hotel, where towels were left to catch the drips of water from the leaking old units.
After our first visit to the restaurant we decided to eat elseware for the remainder of our
stay as the seating area was grubby and the food is left open for flies to settle on.
We have moved rooms once because of the road traffic noise on the front of the hotel and the staff were helpful and accommodating. In general the staff are very pleasant but when we complain about something breaking down or the safe not working they say we will come back and fix it but they never get back to you. The communication between departments is very poor. Don't trust the photos you see on line as they must have been taken 20 years ago.

We stayed here for the 2nd Ceres cup and found their superior deluxe room very clean and comfortable. The food selection was quite delicious and room service was something we could look forward too at the end of the tiring day at the field. They were also accommodating enough to allow us to pack the free breakfast since we had to go to the field early. The small swimming pool was a perfect place for the kids to have fun. The only downside is that the room keycard had to be reencoded daily. Overall though provide value for money.

I stayed in this hotel for 4 nights and felt it was very good value for the money. Hotel staff was very hospitable. I met the owners who are very nice and trying to make improvements. The hotel fee was very cheap considering the nice lobby and location, but the rooms are quite dated and needing some rennovation. Bathroom is very small and shower right on top of the toilet but everything was clean and acceptable. Unfortunately I was put on the side facing the street and near the elevatorand it was very noisy at night with traffic noises as well as the phone ringing. Breakfast is Ok but more suited to Filipinos than westerners. I could use some yogurt at least. Overall a nice place to stay in Bacolod and a very reasonable price but a 3 star hotel at best.

Hello Mimi! I apologize for the late response. So I know that there's hotels in Bacolod my aunt ( she's a prominent physician in the city of Bacolod) attends for meetings or parties which are L'Fisher and Sugarland. I was surprised that she chose Sugarland actually. But the reason why is that you get a bang for your buck. L'Fisher charges you a service charge for every detail. Also, the ballroom is extravagant already that you just need to spend money on the decoration of the birthday party! The money I spend also for my hotel at L'Fisher for 2 nights was almost the same amount at Sugarland for 5 nights. If your looking to have a celebration, I would chose Sugarland. However, if you like to be entertainment at night, swim in a clean pool and have a beautiful view of Bacolod, party at the roof top of Chalet, enjoy the breakfast buffet with lots of selections and go to the spa to get a relaxing massage or facial then I would recommend L'Fisher!
