We chose the resort because of the beach and we weren't disappointed. Lots of space, crystal clear water and soft sand. Lots of fish around and some interesting new coral, after the typhoons most have been destroyed. The pools are great too and it was nice to see one stayed open till late. The breakfast was incredible in the main restaurant. So much choice you could eat for hours if you wish. Loved that there was more variety than any other hotel we stayed at during our trip to the Philippines: from soups to pastries, local favourites and everything in between. The staff are very caring and courteous. Great hospitality! One negative and why the review isn't 5 star is that we had to change the room a number of times. First room we got had a lot of moisture in the laundry and upholstery. If you sat on the bed even you felt wet. We moved to another room and same issue again. It wasn't until the third room that we got somewhere where there wasn't any dampness. I could attribute it to the fact the last room was facing towards the sun, and was deeper into the corridor, which meant it was more enclosed in aircon which both attributed to the removal of moisture from the air. Generally a great experience. The Resort is Massive. Not until you get out and explore the grounds, do you really appreciate it's size. We've stayed at most hotels on mactan. And remember seeing fireworks coming from the resort years ago. We dinned in most days. The Food is good. Generally speaking the staff are friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is hectic, I recommend going down early. The main dining area fills up. But there are overflow areas. We had a few hiccups along the way that made our stay a bit awkward. Returning to our room. We found the door lock battery flat. We were locked out of our room after returning from the pools. Lastly upon checkout we found they had billed us for transport thet we had already prepaid. Pays to check your invoice for irregularities

We stayed in Shangri-la Mactan as part of our honeymoon holiday. We were greeted by lovely staff in the reception of Ocean Wing with a cool towel and a refreshing drink. It was Krista who assisted us to check-in and was an angel sent! She recommended if we wanted to upgrade to an Ocean Club room and explained the benefits which include access to Ocean Club Lounge. The best decision ever! It made our stay extra special. Thank you so much Krista! ❤️ Our room was also set-up for honeymoon. The staff in Ocean Club Lounge are all amazing! Very attentive and welcoming. Great beach, swimming pools, lots of restaurants/ bars to choose from and water sports activities too! Also, not to forget the lovely and very relaxing Chi Spa experience and treatment we had. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. Would definitely love to go back again and would highly recommend.…

A huge resort with everything you can think of, especially great for families. We stayed one night as a stopover between Palawan and Saigao and were happy with the room, food and drinks. However, food and bar service is quite poor - long wait for service, don’t clear the table after meals, an hour wait for coffee poolside.

This was our second visit and will not be the last. Outstanding property with amazing service. While everyone was great I must single out a couple of staff who went above and beyond. Joelito at the bar and beach was attentive and efficient even going so far as having a cold drink waiting when i finished snorkeling. Neleus brought us iced towels at poolside to keep us cool in the hot sun. I have NEVER had anyone do that at a hotel before and it was a welcome treat. Both these folks really made a difference in the quality of our stay and reflect highly on the property.

I’ve been coming to Shangri-La Mactan many times over the past 11 years and this resort always bounces back from typhoons, Covid etc etc thanks to its team. “MY” room is in the main wing and serves me well but the Ocean Wing rooms and suites are definitely more upmarket and elegant. In the Ocean wing you’ll find a total gem of a restaurant, namely Acqua. Cowrie Cove may have the location but Acqua has the menu, quality of food (genuine Italian), style, service and atmosphere. I would particularly recommend the Ribollita Toscana for its total flavour as well as the individual tastes of the beans, broccoli etc.followed by Ricciola in Guazzetto. The grouper is cooked perfectly and sits very well with the sauce though I would suggest a little fettuccini should be added to soak up and carry the sauce. Interestingly, I enjoyed the above when the Filipino Sous Chef was in charge then when the Italian (Napoli) Head Chef was in charge. A compliment to BOTH that the food was exactly the same high standard on 2 separate occasions! buon appetito!!!! As a side, I’ve added a few photos of the other parts of the wing including the kid’s play area under the watchful eyes of the resorts “Aunties”.…

My boyfriend booked the Cabana for a private four-course meal by the beach. Our path and dining area were strewn with rose petals, and romantic music was playing all throughout. The food was just right, and the ambiance was excellent. I appreciated the attention to detail, the warm and gracious service, and the ready assistance on just about everything we could need. I booked a observatory for my boyfriend’s birthday celebration. Everything is great, especially the waiter Klerk who is professional and always smile, pay attention on what we need all the time.
