Arrived late at night after a long journey and were very disappointed. The location would have been excellent for the Sinulog festival the next day. However the room we were allocated (4th floor, room 1) didnt have a lock on the door + had holes in it and had about 12 bunk beds in it which isn't what was advertised (room 2&3 looked as they did at least have locks). Whilst the beds appeared to be comfortable with privacy curtains, if you are on the top bunk they keep the very bright lights on right above you (even at 2am). As it was different to what we were expecting, we chose to find a new room (at 3am) and requested a partial refund, which they were happy to do so (75%ish of total) If you are used to staying in more up-market hostels it's probably not ideal for you. If you just want a place to sleep and don't really care about the conditions, it's ok. A little bit of care would go a long way!

We booked this hotel at a very cheap price using RedDoorz App. It exceeded our expectation. It’s newly renovated, so clean, spacious room, big CR and friendly staff. They also have a Coffee Shop offering breakfast @ 7am and it’s instagrammable. Wi-Fi was intermittent that time. Good value for the money.

Teo-fel Pension House is now under the Reddoorz brand of budget hotels. As a solo traveler I've stayed here many times before and after the place became Reddoorz. They've renovated some rooms and I believe they're in the process of renovating all of their rooms. During my stay April 15th to April 26th, I stayed in two different and renovated rooms. If you book in advance through their app, you'll get a much better deal. The wifi is very good. There's hot water heaters in the showers but the water pressure could be improved. My room was serviced whenever I requested. Overall, my stay was great and I'm sure I'll be back again.

Serious safety incident
The dorm rooms are nice and clean but they advertised that there were lockers in the dorm rooms but there were none, so it’s a lie. This was the case in 2018 and after reading a review from January 2019 this is still potentially the case. I’m currently travelling in South America and the hostels here have better security than Teofel Pension House. Even though I stayed here many months ago, I feel the need to write this review as my friend was robbed a large sum of money by a member of staff from the provided “lockers” that did not lock. She also witnessed the robbing taking place. No disciplinary action was taken towards the cleaner who robbed my friend by management and when we involved the police they were sexually inappropriate towards my female friend, making her feel even more distressed and intimidated. Obviously, the police behaviour isn’t the fault of Teofel Pension House, neither is it necessary their fault that she was robbed by a member of staff but they had a duty of care which they didn’t abide by and no proper establishment can profess to have proper security and lockable lockers when they do not. This is highly deceptive and not excusable. They will no doubt respond to my review, as they did on my google maps review, in an insincere manner, making false claims about what happened. It is up to you whether or not you would like to trust this pension house, but at least I can warn whoever I can so they take the proper security measures with keeping their belongings safe. Safe travels!

Response from Teofel P, Manager at Teo-Fel Pension
Responded 17 Apr 2020
Hi Isabella, First of all, we would like to apologize once again with what had happened to you and most specially to your friend Olivia. It is our interest to prioritize the SECURITY, SAFETY and WELFARE of our guests specially those who are staying at the DORM ROOMS. This is the first time that happened in our property and we will not allow this to ever happen again. We do understand that before you checked out of the hostel, it was already settled between Olivia (who unfortunately lost a some of money), one of our cleaners and Me the manager in front of the POLICE INVESTIGATOR. A copy of the police report was already given to your friend as a proof that there was an on going investigation and we did something to correct all this. We do have security lockers however after this incident, we already made more security measures like installing CCTV cameras inside the DORM ROOMS and we change our locks in our lockers so similar incidents like this will not happen again. As to our RULES OF THE HOUSE, it is very clear even in other HOSTELS and even HOTELS all around the world that guests should be responsible with their own valuable things like money, passport and gadgets. The property can only help secure them with the provided lockers and vaults. So it is not only us who have this kind of ruling. We also have security vaults upon request and it is secured in our admin office. Upon check in as well, you are already informed of the RULES and REMINDERS as well. As to reprimanding the staff for what she did, Olivia already knew why the cleaner had to move her things as she was only cleaning the room and it was already settled that moment with the supervisor that she didn’t loose anything and her money was intact and she could not directly pinpoint the cleaner as the one who stole her money because she did not see her doing it but only suspected her. Also the money was lost only in the morning around 6 to 630am the following day, and the cleaner was not around during that time. Rest assured that this kind of situation is been taken seriously by the management and we are on our toes to secure our guests and they will always feel at home and safe. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience that brought you all this however, we always make sure that we listen to our guests, concerns, suggestions and comments and act on it ASAP.

Stayed for 2 nights in the dormitory over the weekend. Great value for its price, beds were clean and well thought with lamp shade and own sockets. Nicest shower I had in Cebu so far -working heaters and well-maintained facilities. Hot and Cold drinking water was available for free. Staff were nice and approachable. The only complain I have is the wi-fi - there is a need for constant reconnection. The hostel was located on the top floor - no elevators. Not a busy hostel because of the location- so less social interaction, the location was ok close to 711

Dormitory accomodation i will rate it 3.5 stars. If they could have provided a lite blanket i would give it 4 stars. I was so cold that night the thin top sheet is not sufficient. The dorm has clean bed and linen, free wifi, free drinking water outside, roofdeck is resident-friendly with a nice ambience where i sat down and sketched, some guests brought their favorite drink. It is never crowded so sometimes i feel like itbis my private roofdeck :). The dorm has 2 showers and a CR inside the room. It was a delightful surprise to be in a mixed dorm -male and female. I had to move out to a single room though the next time i was there to mend my broken heart.

Location very good, safe area, near to universities, not to touristic, sports center nearby for jogging or swimming, eateries, 7/11, bakery and laundries outside Staff very friendly Deluxe room big, clean, shower hot. Negative points: ants, two cockroaches in one week, WiFi can be weak Value depends on the price, because during my stay the price raised 200 pesos up. For me the best accommodation if the price is lower than 900

The room was massive and there was a wardrobe if you fancied hanging up your stuff. We only stayed for one night but this place had all you need for a single nights stay. Towels were provided and air con worked well. However, the tv did not. The beds were very comfy and clean. The bathroom appeared clean but had a foul odour to it. It especially stank when water was flowing, you couldn’t stay in there for longer than a few minutes.
