Detailed Reviews
Booked 1 night here with a private room. It's one of the better hostels I've stayed in. The private room is small but fine.
The cafe part is nice and the food is not bad.
The large 'workspace' room is really good to plan ahead or work on emails, meet other travellers.
Also free coffee.
The only down point was it was really noisy at night, despite being in a private room.

The ambiance, comfort, cleanliness and hospitality is a 10/10.
Douglas is very cute and the reception pips are very accommodating they even let us leave our things for a while after check out. Artistic feels makes you wanna stay longer which is too bad since we had planned itineraries for the day. Would definitely comeback and recommend to y'all!

Really lovely hostel with great staff. Excellent location definitely recommend. Cebu is a really cool town and Kim behind the desk was extra helpful. The coffee is delicious and so is the tasty selection of food

We booked a room with breakfast for 5 nights. When we arrives we found out that the breakfast start only from 7:30 am, but we came there to do a diving course so we supposed to leave every day at 7:30. We told the staff that and ask to cancel the breakfasts. They said it’s not possible, we’ve talked to the manager and he promised that he’ll try to contact booking and see if he can cancel the breakfasts, but of course he didn’t do anything and avoid us for the rest of the tome. We asked the staff about it many times, but nothing. In conclusion, they stole 25$ from is for nothing we got in these days.

Response from muralshostels, Manager at Murals Hostel And Cafe

Hi Shoval, thank you for sharing your honest thoughts with us, even tough we slightly disagree with your opinion. We are aware that you weren't able to claim your free breakfast and offered you something for take-out in compensation which was also not accepted from your side. So we tried to find a solution together and due to your diving course we offered you to refund the price for the breakfast and wanted to settle it on the spot. Due to your long course unfortunately it didn't seem we crossed again in our hostel since you've been away all day and besides you didn't reply to our messages after check-out on how we can refund you. In Murals Hostel and Café we are committed to guarantee everyone will experience the best stay possible, especially when someone is traveling far away from home we want to do our best to make our Hostel a temporary home where no one needs to feel as a stranger. Unfortunately, probably due to miscommunication, one bad experience (which we still want to fix) is making your stay with us entirely bad, which we think is not reflecting the truth since we do our best to meet our guests needs every day as good as we can. As cleanliness, friendliness and also safety are the most important things of us, we are truly sad that you are accusing us about stealing, which is something that hasn't need to be done. We understand your anger but we would advise for the future to carefully select the words in which you want to express your disappointment. We still hope to see you again in the future or you will reply to our messages. We are grateful for the trust you gave us in staying with us and we believe there are no issues in this world that cannot be fixed. Until we meet again, stay always safe on your travels. Cheers to good times :)

We had a queen room booked for a few nights, the room was fine other than the A/C which was louder than the planes flying overhead. For the price though it's decent, 2 double beds and a nice TV. We are nightowls that enjoy to come and go as we please, but on one occasion we went through the lobby to collect a food order at about 11.30pm and there was a bed behind the desk where the receptionist was sleeping and a man sleeping on the table so it really felt like we were interrupting. You have to pass through this area to have a cigarette too. The door was locked so we had to wake the receptionist to unlock it. I just feel that 11.30pm is far too early to have that set up in a hostel. There's also noon food available there at the moment. Again the room is fine but not a great stay.

After hostels in vietnam i swore never again...
If this hostel is what all hostels were like id never use hotels again. Really clean, safe and had their own night guard. Free coffee, coworking space was chill and the cafe was another bonus. Private room was nice and clean, fresh towels and good bedding and shared bathroom was super clean. Felt like a hotel it was so well kept. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Only down side is the other people staying were super nosy all night. Thats not the hostels fault though.

Hi Nmrsylv, WOW! Honestly when we read your review we felt so proud! Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback. We know staying in Hostels while traveling can be surprising in many ways (mostly it is rather a bad surprise) - but we feel we did a good job on hosting you here with us to give you such an unexpected good surprise. We are delighted that you loved your stay and we were able to change your mind about staying in Hostels. Since we are all travelers ourselves we know how much it takes to do so, that's why we are so happy to read about this! You will always be welcome to come back and enjoy more coffee with us in good company. We are looking forward to have you here again soon and until then always travel safe! Cheers to good times :)

After we left a negative review on Booking recently, and here on Trip Advisor, on us wanting to cancel our breakfast due to late breakfast time (we came there for a diving course), we recieved a response with some inaccurate details. (Original review is written a few reviews below).
1. "Free breakfast" claim - Our breakfast was not given us for free. We payed almost 25$ for it, buying the more expensive dorm option that "included breakfast".
2. "Take away" claim - They offered us omlette sandwiches as a substitute to take away, but given us cheese sandwiches instead, that's what was not accepted by our side. And it is unacepeted for a good reason. You order a dish, and recieve another one - that's the hostels' mistake, not ours. BTW, at the time, we talked with Robin about that and he totally agreed with us, saying he'd refund us also for that breakfast.
3. "Not being available" claim - We were back at the hostel everyday at 4 pm. 5 days in a row. It's more than enough time to find us, especially when we're staying in your hostel. Moreover, hostel staff saw and talked to us countless times. Not to mention the couple of times we addressed your staff on that specific issue.
4. "Didn't respond to messages" claim - We did. We talked face to face, in Booking chat several times, on the phone, and finally - through our friend who stayed there. We talked with you Robin, and with your staff. Why would you say otherwise? Moreover, we sent our bank account details, as requested, 2 TIMES! and didn't get the refund.
It's not about money at this point, it's about integrity. It could be settled countless times, easy. We're not looking to bash each other, but fail to understand your way of handling this, and feel obligated to reply and share our side of this. We heard only good things about you, which only makes us wonder more about the way this turned out.
