this is an excellent hostel in an interesting part of town. i think to call it a poshtel is a step too far but nonetheless it was comfortable and clean. i had a peaceful sleep in a cool (in the ambient sense) environment. the bathrooms are improvable. the staff are very pleasant and helpful. 10/10

I was really impressed with this hostel and, as a frequent traveler to Cebu, wished I discovered it earlier. If you consider your upcoming Cebu trip to be an exotic adventure, staying at this capsule hostel will augment the experience as it is located in a non-tourist urban setting on a quieter street with guests from around the world.

I found the hostel to be very clean with employees constantly sweeping and mopping. There is a small common area with TV and sofa which doubles as the reception area. There is also an outdoor patio for smokers and those who wish to enjoy the outdoors.

They have around twenty capsules. All are the size of a twin-size bed except two which are queen bed sized. Regardless, space will be super tight and there aren't lockers to store your things. Simply going for a shower will be a bit of a production without drawers, closets and hangers for your things. You can leave larger bags in the hallway or keep them locked in your capsule while you're away (remember to bring your own padlock).

I was originally concerned whether my possessions would be secured in the capsule even with a lock. But since capsules are located next to the reception area, nobody can break-in without stirring a lot of commotion with many eyes around. So I felt my things were quite safe.

Inside the capsule, there is a bed, light, fan, electric outlets and mirror. It's definitely not the high-tech capsules I found in Tokyo. Nevertheless, it's ample for sleeping. You can also sit upright without hitting the ceiling. Surprisingly, I found the hostel to be quiet at night despite being only meters away from many other guests. And the air conditioner did a great job keeping the entire facility cool and sleepable.

There are three tiny bathrooms with bathing facilities. Unfortunately, the water heaters seemed to be for show only as they didn't work during my stay. But because of Cebu's warm climate, your showers will be with room temperature water which I found tolerable. Besides, it might be good for bathrooms to be tiny and without piping hot water as to discourage guests from hogging them.

There are upper and lower level capsules -- and those with mobility issues will find it hard to reach the upper-level ones. I was assigned an upper-level capsule as others were occupied. On subsequent days though, an employee asked if I wished to transfer to a lower level one but I declined. So if they're near capacity, you might need to climb a ladder to reach your capsule.

Because the hostel is located on a quieter street, there are fewer jeepney routes passing directly in front. If you like taking public transportation, you might have to walk five minutes north or south to access other jeepney routes. Taxi and motorbike drivers are unlikely to know this hostel so you might want to ask him to bring you to the Ramos Public Market which is a two-minute walk south.

There are no food choices in the immediate area aside from a 7-11 almost next door which will meet all your needs for food and sundries.

Overall, this was a superb budget place to stay and I wish there were more similar accommodations in the city. I commend the owners for running a great hostel.

I visited Cebu for the summer, and i was looking for something that was suitable for my Taste and a good place to stay in. Wandering around looking for places with such expensive Rates and not really that much comfortable. So i went to look and found that there is a Japanese based capsule rooms that are affordable, small but comfortable and the people who work there were very helpful showing me Great places to be in cebu and even took travelling tours.
Welcoming me with their bright smile and sincerely positive attitude.. Thanks!
I'll visit again soon

Basic hostel, does the job. However does not have much social space or facilities like a kitchen or an area to wash clothes. More of a night stay over. So if you are looking for a social hostel I wouldn’t recommend. The pods are spacious and have air con which is lovely. However we did get ants in the bed.

We stayed in a ‘Deluxe capsule’ ie the double bed capsule for one night as we had to travel from El Nido to Malapascua Island via Cebu.

Cebu as a city is not somewhere you would stay for long, and the traffic is absolutely insane, never seen anything like it in my life! So keep that in mind when travelling around. It took us 2.5 hours to get there from the airport (its 8km!)

The bed was comfy and was enough space, however for 2 people I would have hoped for more hooks or shelves to help us have more room on the bed.

The hostel itself is tiny, and since everyones bags were in the hallway, it was made even smaller. I guess people dont use their designated cupboard? This would make it a lot nicer, if all the bags were put away.

I personally prefer having more space to spread out and a private bathroom to shower and recover from lots of travelling so I wouldn’t stay again, but is fine for a short layover.

Not many restaurants around, there is a 7-11 next door.

Bus terminal is pretty close.

Clean, fast internet, silent, air- conditioned and a good portion of privacy to take a good rest any time during the day and night. That's what a capsule room should be and what you definetly get at Shejoje.

The manager has an extraordinary sense of empathy and will let you feel like part of the family. I want to thank for the great support and kindness I experienced there. I always felt home and safe. A place I like to return anytime.
