Sampaquita Suites JRG is a nice and cozy budget hotel in the center of Cebu city. It is on a short walking distance to Summit Circle and the entertainment district on Mango Avenue. The executive suite room was quiet and comfortable with a basic standard. The room was simple and clean and in accordance to what you can expect from a budget hotel. On the 3:rd floor there was availability to a big terrace and on the 2:nd floor availability to WIFI in the lobby. A disadvantage was the lack of an elevator which left a lot of stairs to walk in order to enter the hotel lobby on the 2:nd floor and to continue to my room on the 3:rd floor. The staff was very friendly, kind and helpful. Despite a simple budget profile I can highly recommend this hotel for its proximity to the center and the entertainment district and for the staff’s personal treatment, making me feel like a real VIP. Thank your very much:-)

LOCATION

This Sampaguita Suites branch has a prime location. It is located in a building with a pharmacy/mini-grocery, boutiques, massage parlor and a few restaurants. It is very near Fuente Circle which is walking distance to several establishments such as the famous Larsian (try their barbeque, chorizo and longganisa) Crown Regency Hotel (where the Skywalk Adventure is located), Robinsons Mall, Cebu's Capitol and others. Mango Square, a place to hang out at night, is also a short walk to the hotel.

ROOMS

My friends and I had a family room for 4 (one double bed and 1 single bed). We just joined the beds together and we fit perfectly. We managed to experience 2 family rooms as we stayed for 2 nights (Friday and Sunday). The first room had a hot and cold shower but it's low in power. The water was not coming out as strong as we want to. We ended up using the shower faucet and a pail in order to take a bath. The second room had a great shower but a poor toilet. It's flush is working but only for minor flushing. When we requested for a pail, they gave us a drum, too which means they already know they have a faulty toilet and that we had to flush it manually by filling the drum with water. Both rooms did not have a bidet as well. On the upside, the room is equipped with a decent aircon, TV with Sky Cable, cabinet, vanity table and mini-refrigerator. They also provide towels.

STAFF

What their rooms lacked, they made up with courteous staff. They are very attentive to your needs and seemed apologetic of the rooms. You can ask them bus departure times, location of a certain restaurant or other travel questions and they'll be glad to assist you. Their staff is working 24/7 and is surely awake even in the wee hours of the morning.

OVERALL

Our stay at Sampaguita Suites are okay. For a budget hotel, we did not expect much from the rooms but they turned out decent despite the bathroom issues. We spent 1,500 pesos for the family room. For four people, it is very cheap. Along with its great location, I can bypass some of the issues we've encountered. If we ever find ourselves in Cebu again, we'll make sure to return to Sampaguita Suites.

Sampaquita Suites JRG is right in the middle of uptown Cebu. Location is very convenient with restaurants, malls, and banks within walking distance from the place. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and accommodating. You can check out and leave your belongings with them and pick them up later. Although the we had a little problem with our billing, their reservation office charged a deposit more than what was reflected in the records of the front office. But they were very helpful in helping solving the issue. if you want to explore the city, this one of the best budget hotels you can stay in.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.
DO NOT consider this hotel for your accommodation.

I'll cut it short but basically this was what happened to us. We had an event the whole day of Saturday, we left the hotel room at 7AM then went back at 3AM, we unpacked some things and freshened up. We decided to eat at Sinangag Station nearby. Left the hotel at 3:20AM and went back to the hotel at 4AM. To our surprise, our things were scattered on the floor and all our valuables were missing (cellphone, laptop, cameras, watch, jewelries, wallets, psp, bag).

We are 100% sure that we locked the door and brought the key with us. Some of our companions noticed that a portion of the curtain was slightly placed outside the small opening of the window. Prior to this incident, none of us opened or touched the window since we checked in. It was only then that we noticed that the window has been breached. When we checked the area outside the window, there was a roof that can be easily reached, it was very dark and there was a staircase.

After the police's investigation, we requested them to transfer us to a new room. When we saw the room, it was very similar to the one we had. We immediately checked the windows and discovered that it was also opened, thus was also probable of another mishap.

Now, it's your call. Would you want this to happen to you, family and friends? We hope not.

Visit to Cebu is the first time in my life. After arriving at the Mactan International Airport I went to Robinson Quote by using airport taxi. One-way fare is about 450 PHP (Philippines Peso) or 34 MYR (Malaysian Ringgit) or 10 USD. This is my first visit to a foreign country and the Philippines is the first country I visited. More amazing, I have not booked any hotel rooms before my arrival in Cebu City. The Airport taxi dropped me off at Robinson Place.

Guided by the map that I took at the airport, I went looking for a hotel near Robinsons Place. Spontaneously, I continue to ride to the hotel and went to Sampaguita Suites. I book one room cost about 150 PHP or equal to 110 MYR or 34 USD per night.

This hotel looks elegant with a luxurious hotel. However the hotel has no elevator and have to climb a ladder. In addition, the hotel has a warm and friendly staff regardless of Security, Receptionist, or housekeeping.

This hotel position is very strategic because it is located right in the center of town and is surrounded by large shopping centers. In addition, the hotel is also easy to access by public transport such as taxis and jeepney. There are also plenty of massage centers adjacent to the hotel. In addition, 24-hour stores like 7eleven and some other shops are also nearby.

Overall I highly recommend this hotel to stay for people who like to go around Cebu City, with walking or with jeepney.

Stayed here in 2012 in a single room.

The room was ok/good/adequate in size.

Had a room with no window but it did not matter at all.

The ladies at the reception were all very nice.

The surroundings were quite and although it is located in a very area, it did not feel crowded/noisy.

I would be going back there soon...

Manuel.
