Our staff booked us at this hotel for a quick business trip in Davao. The hotel was strategically located between the airport and our meeting venue in Lanang. The rooms were okay. Facilities were well maintained. But their wifi was weak in the rooms and you had to go to the lobby to get a decent speed internet. The lobby seemed to be usually crowded so its not easy to work from there. It was also quite noisy mainly due to other guests who seem to not care about the noise they were generating. It didn't help that the hotel rooms' doors had a big opening at the bottom and there certainly was no sound-proofing. The set breakfast was okay though they had what seems like unlimited pandesal (bread) and coffee, tea and chocolate in sachets. The saving grace here is their staff who were very kind and helpful.…

Outside it looks small and uninviting but you’ll be surprised as it is bigger than expected. Stairwell leading to the second and third floor is very well decorated. Super-super clean room, floors and hallways as if you’re transported into a 5-star hotel. Cool blue light sign on the wall of every room. No more “don’t disturb” and “make room” hanging tags that falls off all the time as each room have a touch panel on the inside wall. Just touch the button if you want either sign to light up on the outside of your room. It is Japanese inspired hotel so you can guarantee a touch of Japan everywhere. Room is very spacious for a small hotel. I am super impressed with the customer service too. Included buffet Filipino breakfast is simple, mostly seen cooked at Filipino homes, is very delicious and is truly a must to try. 7/11 convenience store is located on the ground floor of the same building. Barbecue, Shawarma, a few Japanese and a Vietnamese restaurant is located in the same shopping compound. Davao airport is just 2 miles away (110php cab ride on a non-peak hours). Within walking distance too is the Mall (SM Mall) and Damosa shopping district. Laundry is nearby, other restaurants and banks are also within a 5 min walk. Some rooms don’t have windows so request one with a little window if you’re not used to hotels without a window. Its not guaranteed though as they only have a few available. …

Stayed in this hotel on a business trip. Its one of those boutique hotels, I understand. The place is small, with only a few rooms. But it is clean and fairly new. Just outside the hotel are a number of restaurants and cafés so theres plenty to choose from. Checking in didn’t take too long. The room isn’t big, but its not cramped. Im sure the other rooms had windows but the one I stayed in didn’t. Fortunately the claustrophobia wasn’t acting up. In-room wifi zoned out most of the time I was there; the signal got better only in the morning. For some reason the bathroom floor had some kind of oil which reacted with the water everytime you used the shower. Breakfast, I am told, can either be plated meals (ordered the night before) or, if there are sufficient guests, a buffet. We were served the buffet, but as can be expected this meant rice, fish and local sausages. Plus some cereals, bread and fruit. The biggest downside to this place is the thin walls. I could hear the next door guests talking well into the night. Makes for bad sleep quality. But considering the price, I cant complain.…

Stayed here for 3 nights. Location is good as it is near Davao Intl Airport and SM Lanang Premier. May restaurants around the area and there's 7-11 in the same building. Stayed in Executive Twin room at ground level. Room is spacious and clean but WIFi is not working at all! :-( There's also no hot shower plus shower pressure is so low.

Great location, 5mins to SM Premier Shopping Mall and SMX Convention Center, 15 mins to Island Garden City of Samal Beautiful Beaches, 5mins from and to Davao International airport.Pleasant,smells very fresh and clean rooms and all of the staff are incredibly helpful and generous. Home made Filipino breakfast was delicious. Would definitely stay there again.

Budget friendly yet very good hotel. This will be our favorite hotel because the staff were friendly and accommodating. When we entered their lobby area, it was welcoming and the ambiance is just so cool. Thanks for all the staff who were so accommodating to take all our requests. They put us in a room away from the road so we could have a good night sleep. The room is so cozy, smells good and warm that it feels like you're at home. The bed is very comfortable. The Hotel is safe, so clean and secure. Plus points to their very Filipino home-cooked type of buffet breakfast that really reminds me of lutong bahay ni “Nanay”. The location is very good. Will be back here soon and hope to stay again at Sumo Asia Hotel Davao!!!

Great value of money. The rate is very good when compared to other properties in Davao City. Best location, has many restaurants outside the hotel with good value price also. Staff were friendly and helpful. Near SMX Convention center. Very Clean, bed is very comfortable & Smells fresh compared to other lower priced business hotels in the City.

Comfortable, clean amenities, very friendly staff, lovely breakfast. It’s a nice hotel to stay in for a summer trip with 2 of my other long time girl friends. Spacious rooms, central location. 7/11 nearby is very convenient also.

This is a good place to stay which is near the hotel and some cofffee shops and restaurants. Free breakfast is served. There is also a spa on the second floor. Friendly staff. Cons: Poor wifi connection Hot showers not fully working
