Detailed Reviews
Hotel Tropika was an excellent choice for staycations with a few friends and their outdoor events venue is a refreshing option for garden parties while still staying in the city.
The rooms and bathrooms are spacious. We had twin beds that would actually fit two adults comfortably. The location is also an advantage— close to the airport, Davao’s newer malls and nightlife spots, and some pick up points if you plan to visit Samal Island.
I especially appreciate the hotel’s sustainability efforts: no plastic water bottles or single use shampoos and soaps in the rooms.

We’re currently staying in this Hotel and enjoying it very much apart from ongoing problems in the Restaurant, Café Aseya, which is located within the hotel but under different ownership and management.
Hotel Tropika is a hidden gem, one of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed in with a superb location, lovely grounds/pool and very professional, courteous staff, not just at Reception but across all their services.
By contrast, the Restaurant is a disaster. I have rarely experienced such bad service anywhere, unprofessional and surly staff seeming to be asleep on the job and showing no interest in their customers. Evidently, they have a captive market with the hotel guests and can take advantage. After problems on 3 successive days, the only option is to go elsewhere to a neighbourhood restaurant. Unfortunately, our breakfasts were prepaid for the entire 11 day stay so we’ll just “grin and bear it”.
Should the manager have any interest in rectifying the problems (ironically, reported earlier in other Trip Advisor reviews), here is a list:
1) they wanted to charge for breakfast choices although I had fully prepaid for breakfast.
2) dinner menu brought to table but no one came to take the order.
3) my wife and I ordered at the same time but her meal was brought 10 minutes after mine and then only on being reminded that I too wanted to eat.
4) my wife’s meal was brought all at once, not the second course after the first course as had been specifically requested. So, the second course was eaten cold. The same happened with me, only I returned it and told the waiter to bring a fresh second course once I’d finished the first course. The delays meant that we didn’t actually eat at the same time.
5) the staff, evidently bored with their job, not overworked as we were the only guests, started playing loud music on their cellphones with zero consideration as to whether we might want to listen, (or not!). This contemptuous behaviour demonstrates how the restaurant staff regard their guests.
6) long after we’d finished eating, they had neither cleared the table, asked if we wanted desert or brought the bill. We went up to the service (sic) counter, signed the bill and left. Never again.

It is my second time here in Davao City for our annual family reunion. Unfortunately, my Uncle's House is already full of relatives, that's why I decided to stay in a hotel. While searching for available hotels through my Facebook account, I happened to see an ad for Hotel Tropika, and decided to choose it. As I booked a room, the hotel employees are very approachable and hands-on to every guests that are checking in and inquiring. The people working in the hotel are also knowledgeable about Davao City's go-to and famous destinations. I love everything about the hotel! Spacious room with a nice view of nature outside. My room is very clean and it smells good! Aside from it, the room prices are very affordable if you are traveler staying on a tight budget. And the food at the Resto is very refreshing, especially the Pad Thai, Tom Yum Kalay, and their Green Mango Shake! The swimming pool is also great and I believe it is the only pool in Davao that uses Saltwater (correct me if I'm wrong). I would definitely go back to Hotel Tropika and bring some of my friends and family!

It was a short but sweet stay for me and my son. The rooms were just the right size, and the window had a nice view of the green garden. What I also liked was the availability of water from a dispenser. There was a pitcher and 2 glasses provided, so you never really go thirsty. The ambiance was quiet and relaxing. It’s also a short walk to Azuela so it’s easy to find places to eat.

Looking for a place to chill and relax, visit this hotel, Hotel Tropika. During my staycation in the hotel woth my sister, cousin and friend, I was able to relax and enjoy my overnight stay. The staffs were accommodating and easy to approach if you needed something. The location itself was beyond my expectation, though it's found in the city proper but I was amazed how the hotel makes me feel like home. The facilities were excellent and the proper safety protocols were followed. I will surely come back again here and bring my family as well, to experience the beauty of Hotel Tropika. Thanks you so much 💛💛💛

Thank you for this experience, Hotel Tropika! 🤍 Really had a perfect, very relaxing and stress-free weekend getaway with friends after having a busy and rough week. The staff in the hotel were really amazing, friendly and accommodating, they went over and beyond to help make our stay enjoyable and ensure we do not feel troubled. The rooms were wonderful, clean and very comfortable. The ambience was fantastic! Their serene surrounding will also add to your chillin' and relaxation stay. Of course, their saltwater pool was so great! Apart from that, the hotel also strictly follows the health and safety protocols which is really good, both for the management and guests well-being. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with the hotel and I loved it! It is indeed, a very 'home like feeling' hotel. Will surely come back to Hotel Tropika again with my family and other friends to experience how peaceful and great the hotel is! Lastly, I highly recommend this hotel for anyone! 🤍😍🤍😍

3. Food is good.
4.Water dispenser is readily available in every floor.
5. The place is quiet and peaceful.
6.Secured parking area.
7. Food is good.
Our first stay here was 2011 and up to now 2023 the hotel is well maintained from their furnitures up to their facilities. I just hope they will upgrade some of their amenities such as smart tv , shower and fast internet would be nice Also new aircon and fridge on some rooms would be great as well. Looking forward on the new hotel building and renovated pool.

It has always been a superb stay in this hotel. It was way back December 2023 when we stayed here for supposedly 1 night but we decided to extend our stay. The location is accesible. The receptionists are all great and very pleasant. The food served at Aseya Restaurant are sumptous and prices are very reasonable. The lobby is so relaxing, clean and smells good. The rooms are very spacious, clean as well as the bathroom. The housekeeping staff are very courteous and friendly . Lastly, the pool. We love the pool. So clean, it has a duty lifeguard available everyday and they are using salt water here. The overall ambiance of the hotel we super duper loved it. Very nature and the landscaping are done perfectly. We will definitely miss this hotel specially now that they are starting to construct more rooms on the other building . We stayed here several times already. Thank you Topika

Our company had our Christmas party here last December 2022 and thanks to the hotel's front desk personnel that booking their function hall and the rooms was a breeze. Their entire staff specially, JR from housekeeping, was very helpful and courteous. The rooms were spacious and tidy, beds' and pillows' firmness was perfect, and the garden view from the window was great. Will definitely book our next event here.

I believe there is. I saw people smoking in an area outdoors adjacent to the hotel but still on the property. I don't know how they call that place.
Hi! My apologies for the late reply. All our rooms are good for 2 persons only but you can add 1 extra bed for a fee. We do not have any family rooms. You can check our rates on the different booking sites online. Thank you for your interest in Hotel Tropika.
Hi! We do not have connecting rooms but you can request adjacent rooms. We will try our best to grant this request, depending on our occupancy. Thank you for your question.
Hi!
We offer complimentary airport pick-up to our guests. Please just give us your flight details beforehand. We charge a fee for hotel to airport transfers but it is quite easy to get a cab from here. It will only take you 15-20 minutes from our hotel to the airport. Thank you for your question.

Yes it is, and it's what I appreciated most in this hotel. It's a few meters away from the main road, and a few more meters from the lobby to the hotel rooms, hence, it's really quiet. The room is quite spacious too, so it's really relaxing inside. Hope this can help. :)
