Detailed Reviews
For a budget hotel, this place will do. The food and the staff are the things I don't like from this place.
This place is just suitable as a place to sleep after a tiring travel or merely a stopover from your trip. A budget hotel which has the usual complimentary water, soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrush however you have to ask them to replenish it every morning since they don't do it automatically, same goes with cleaning up the room.
They also have a free wifi and a led television with a cable transmission however only few channels have been installed. Their bed is a little hard but we hardly ever noticed it as we're out most of the time.
I guess the star of the hotel is their swimming pool. It is thoroughly clean every 10 in the evening hence swimming is up until that time. However at the time of our stay, the pool can only be used by the in house guests from 7 pm until 10 pm only since they have a line up of swimming practice from the locals.
Swimming at 7 pm to 10 pm with the correct swimming outfit is strictly practiced. That's good at least they're really implementing their rules however they could have explained it in a polite manner that it's strictly implemented and not say no outright. It was foolish of me not to notice the note written in front of the receptionist desk, but they could have explained it to me in a good way. I was just merely asking and if it's not allowed then so be it as long as you explained it properly.
The food at their coffee shop is best devoured if you take in room service so you won't have to handle impoliteness from inside their shop. I don't know maybe you have to impose and show your money for them to take care of you. The food is not that great, a little bit dry on my part. We had sardines, tapa, daing, ham and sausage - they didn't fill my tummy so much.
I would have rate 2.5 but there's no half star here so I gave it 3 instead, a budget hotel best for sleep over only and a swimming on the side...

I came back to the hotel after around 7 years, and I was surprised by the development! The rooms have been renovated, service has improved a lot, and the wholesome image has remained in tact. A well maintained full-sized pool is truly an add-on, adorning the front of the hotel's main building. Pizza served by the coffee shop is superb. Staff are accommodating and courteous. The room where I stayed, 113, is spacious, cozy and neat. For travelers who opt to enjoy the relaxation of buses, the hotel is very accessible from the National Highway: some 2 blocks, which is short enough for a leisurely walk, but far enough from the turbulence of the busy road. It is also walking distance from MetroTown Mall, Mercury Drug, and other establishments. Sun Garden is a must-try when you visit Tarlac City.

The place isn't that difficult to find, we saw their sign and just followed it a couple of blocks down the main road. The room is comfortable enough for my taste, ambiance, size and temperature wise. the pool is open to the public so it's best to use it at night where there are fewer people and kids, that is if you want a quieter environment. there are various food establishments in the neighborhood and a walking-distance mall/groceries in case you need one. SM-Tarlac is about 10 minutes and 30 pesos ride by a trike.
It's quite funny that they serve a free breakfast good for one person only. And since the taste wasn't that great and we will check out in just a couple of hours anyway, me and my companion decided not to order another one and just have a big lunch outside.
irregardless, i'll definitely go back in this hotel for future r & r, since the staff are all friendly from the front desk down to the security guard on post.

People say you get what you pay for but unfortunately I didn't. Yes this is an affordable place to stay and when i first saw our room it does not have any windows on it, but that's what we paid for i guess. On the plus side they have a swimming pool which you can only use from 7pm to 10pm since it is being used by a swimming team in the morning, that's what i paid for i guess. They serve breakfast but you cannot choose just anything from the menu they will tell you which one's are available or easier to prepare i guess, i tried their sardines, i should've known better that the sardines would be one out of the can with out it being cooked, yes it is cold. But what really irked me is the fact that one of their staff was not friendly and she looks and acts like she owns the place or maybe she does. We asked here a question on whether we can use the pool since nobody is using it that afternoon but we got an impolite answer. Saying no can be done properly and by not being arrogant especially so that we asked them kindly, certainly that is something we did not pay for! Now remembering this bad experience made me reduce my rating for this hotel to 1, remember you are in the hospitality business, be hospitable.

If you are looking for a budget place to stay then this is it. It is right off MacArthur Highway and just a few blocks away from the La Maja Rica Hotel. It is close to the city center and several different eating spots and sight seeing areas. We chose the King Size Room and have enjoyed our stay here. The pool is very nice and is under cover so you won't get sunburned during the day when you swim. The café they have has a nice buffet during week except on Monday's.

We checked in for our Nov 12-14, 2017 booking but after the first day, we decided to check out since we have already visited all the interesting places we wanted to visit in Tarlac. They did not charge us for cancellation fee. We stayed on the first floor because my hubby and I brought our 80-year old mothers with us. We requested for separate beds for them but there was none available on the first floor. We were told that all rooms on the first floor only had 1 King-sized bed. I suggest they provide separate single or double beds on the first floor as well. An hour after we left the hotel, Zara Penalosa from the front desk called on my cellphone to inform me that I accidentally left my bag at their lobby. I forgot to pick it up after we had our picture taking at the lobby with some of our friends from Tarlac. It contained all my cash amounting to more than Php10k. I asked my friend to pick it up for me since we were already on our way to Subic by the time Zara called. My friend deemed it necessary to count the cash inside my bag in front of the desk officer on duty. I was super thankful that not a single centavo was taken away. I am super grateful to the person who found my bag and gave it to Zara for safekeeping!

My wife and I stayed overnight for a business trip at the Sun Garden Hotel. It is a very basic hotel that will serve your needs, especially if you are on a budget.
The pool area looks nice but we didn't have time to use it. The room was basic, it had a bed, TV, air con, and bathroom. There was free wi-fi that was pretty fast and had a strong signal from inside our room. The bed was reasonably comfortable. All of the furnishings are basic, it could use updating but then again this is a place for tight budgets. We did have an issue with the bathroom, the drain from the sink ran through a really long PVC pipe and had leaking. So if you use the sink for more than a couple of seconds, the drainage will flow out onto the bathroom floor. The shower did have a water heater, which was nice.
The food was acceptable at the on-site restaurant. For breakfast, my wife and I got the last servings of tocino and we saw a several people order it after us who had to find an alternate option. The food quality was OK and you can tell it is designed for quantity over quality,
If you are in Tarlac City and budget is the most important option for your hotel stay, then Sun Garden Inn would be a reasonable choice.

a nice and quiet place to stay if you're in the city. you can dip in the pool before going to your business appointment or before hitting the sack.
some neg points are very limited choice of breakfast items and very few available TV channels.

Nice and affordable, close to almost everything, malls, market and other things. Food for breakfast is good especially when there’s a buffet, rooms are ok, but AC are a bit noisy, swimming area is also nice.would definitely comeback😊
