Detailed Reviews
High end hotel in La Union. During check-in, welcome drinks is served. Room given has pool view. A welcome pastry was also handover upon arrival inside the room. The room is so spacious with sofa bed. Pool is huge. There is artificial tulips that lights up during the night. Breakfast spread is limited. Menu @ Olive Restaurant is very limited and pricey. Thou, quality wise its superb except on our 1st order on chicken where it's almost burnt. Outside food is not allowed, however, no restaurant is open on Monday 10PM, as such we need to go out from the property. Internet is converged even outside the room, however, globe signal in our room is negative.

The place is excellent don't get me wrong, but the service is basic and the breakfast is not great.
We booked through a Travel Expo which happened in SMX this year. We were really looking for a destination for our 7th Anniversary, and we will travel with our kids. We got excited when we booked, the staff in the Thunderbird booth were just as excited as us. We mentioned that we will celebrate our anniversary.
So we paid in full right then and there, and the reservation girl told me she was going to send the booking confirmation via email.
Okay so fast forward, as we are nearing our vacation date, still haven't received an email re: booking confirmation. I called the resort to make sure, but it seems like they have no idea of our booking, so I have to locate where that reservation girl is, I found her contact and it seems like she's just so bothered with my inquiry, no more excitement and all. After she sent the confirmation I called the resort again to confirm, and I mentioned that it will be for our anniversary.
I worked in a hotel, and on occasions like this, we can take advantage of it to gain a repeat customer. But nada, no welcome letter, no complimentary, not even a Happy Anniversary sign.
So we ignored that and went on with the day, enjoying the shallow pool, we attempted to play in the game room but no staff to assist us. The last thing we are looking forward to is the buffet breakfast the next day, man, I was looking for fried egg, again, nada! The egg is scrambled with ampalaya. To think an extra person costs 1500 for that, I don't think the breakfast is worth 1500, with that dry bread, limited viands,, no thank you.

The resort facilities are very nice. What you see on the website is what you get. Beds are comfortable and the full body Signature massage is heaven. 1st downside, FO gave us a massage leaflet but when we asked for the service, the attendant said that they're not offering those packages anymore. 2nd downside was the restaurant & room service which is until 10PM. We called the FO b4 9:30PM for menu as it wasn't available in the room. FO said it will be sent & we received it b4 10PM. We immediately called the restaurant to place our orders and we're advised that they're already closed and we find it so unacceptable that we're not informed upon check in that the last order was 9:30PM. On top of it, no alternative was given to us until we asked if we're supposed to be kept hungry until the next day? The off duty supervisor Rachel called the restaurant at the casino if they can do room service for us. We ended up leaving the comfort of our room going to the casino restaurant just to dine in the middle of a typhoon!

We went there on June 4 for an overnight stay as that is the only available slot.
The place was ok and not impressive as the pictures, a bit unkempt but the worst part are the services.
The place is quite isolated. Even if you are a guest you have to make a reservation in their only restaurant in order to have dinner at the buffet, Mind you, front desk does not inform most of their guests of this upon check in.
We were refused entry at the resto and many guests had no choice but to find their luck outside the "resort"
Lucky for them and unlucky for us we told front desk that we were never advised upon check in so they allowed to go on.
It turned out we have to order from the limited menu since they still won't allow us to eat from the buffet. We reluctantly agreed as we have seniors and children in tow who don't wanna drive out.
Our food came in batches with 30 minute interval each time.
First the tomato soup that tastes like it came from a can. Then the sad ceasar salad, next came the seafood fritters which consist of, french fries. calamares that tastes like rubber and battered canned tuna.
After almost 2 hours we can't take it any longer and just asked them to serve the fried chicken to go. We paid over 6,000 pesos.
When we got to our rooms, the fried chicken were all burned, tasting like charcoal. I was livid at this point but still i coolly asked the manager what he can offer
He washed his hands and blamed the chef!
He begrudgingly gave me the option to refund the chicken or he can cook us another batch.
It was already 10:30
I asked him if they can buy us food outside as I am so reluctant at this point to eat the food.
He said he can't risk his staff at night
So I told him that he has inconvenienced his guests and now we are all hungry with nowhere to go
I ordered him to refund us the chicken and make sure to cook another batch with no charge. Told him this is the worst service and they claim to be a 5 star resort!
The meal was delivered to our rooms at almost 11:30 with a slice of apology cake
The next day the breakfast buffet came in second worst! Slice of hotdogs, runny scrambled eggs, danggit and giniling with a side of over riped fruits!
Worst hotel!

We got the 2BR villa and expected a luxury greek style accommodation . Truth is it only looked good in photos. Its obviously outdated with curtains falling, wifi not working, towels and linens are almost brown / yellowish! The hairdryer is weak, sink is leaking. They only provide one toilet paper per bath, the toiletries are so economical :/
I mean we paid 32K a night for that villa and we didnt feel any luxury at all.
Food in the restaurant is overpriced too . Charging 500 up to 800 per meal is too much and it wasnt even fine dining. No espresso too omg only brewed coffee in the hotel
The potential is such a waste. Wish they hire a consultant and rethink their entire game

Beware of the entrance fee. It's deceptive. Thunderbird on their site, billboard and flyers advertise a price of 500 pesos for use of their property. Our group arrived and we paid for all of us. Then when we went to use the pool, they wanted to charge us an additional fee. What? No where is that pool fee listed. So when only half of group paid the extra pool fee, they then told us the other people in our group would not be allowed to be near the pool. Oh my gosh! What the heck. You separate families because only some of them were using the pool. Really frustrating. Be warned.

+1
Stayed for overnight thankfully they don't have available dates for 2 villa, a bit pricey and does not exceed our expectations as 5star hotel.
1st. Observed that linens were soiled and with hair strands, ask the hk supervisor and they did apologized and changed the linens, they just told that it might be from their hk without wearing hairnet
2nd. No microwave, no welcome drinks, no food stored in the rooms
3rd. The pool has cracks and the cr on the pool is too messy and has foul smell, even the beach towels were old and the smell is not good
4th. The beach was not good for swimming, for pictorial purposes only
5th. The buffet breakfast was limited choices
Overall, they should maintain the amenities as it was disappointing that it was too pricey and not well maintained and cleaned.
There were lot of amenities which they limit the guest for only pool and infinity pool, where is the gym access? Or kids area? Or other areas that the guest would appreciate as a 5star hotel.
6th. They didn't give an welcome letter and no official receipt

Overpriced, not worth it! There are so many luxurious hotels around the Philippines (e.g. in Bohol, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan,Manila) that are almost half the price of this hotel but definitely so much better!
The only good thing in this place is the cozy bed (comfy bed sheets, pillows and blanket).
There is unbelievably no hot and cold shower. I thought it was just my room but I asked my other friends who stayed there and they also had cold shower. Bathroom is rusty. There wasn’t much left in the tissue box- shows how stingy they are. And service is very poor. Staff won’t greet you or even smile. Towels are hard and not of good quality. corridors surrounding rooms are dirty. Staff wouldn’t even offer help to carry my luggage (like seriously?!) Food is average...
Better spend your money in other hotels half the price but better service/ amenities with HOT and COLD SHOWER!!!

The place is not maintained although still IG worthy. Bad service, we were on a business trip, some of my colleagues were charged of they say 'missing towels" for 1 thousand pesos each. (while back home our team gives away thousands of towels as giveaways.) Since a lot had other plans the lunch served on the last day were not consumed, we asked if we can have it taken home, we were told we will be charged of containers for 150 each. The remaining food (buffet) is still good for 40++ people. Our event booking is for Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner for 3 days. (minus dinner for the last day). Spending a huge amount and yet we were treated poorly. Never again! BTW the rooms lack toiletries. The veranda door slides are stuck. I was also told by my staff they had bad smelling towels, Elevator is not working. Breakfast not good.

I booked through agoda for 4 nights paid in advance, no issues with agodo. When i checked in, The check in counter woman asked me for a security deposit of 8K, She immediately swiped my card and my credit card company immediately texted me. i informed the check in counter woman that i was charged, she said they will void it once we check out. So i said okay. When we checked out, the front desk told us to wait so that they can check, a few minutes later they said everything is fine and they will return the security deposit through my credit card. I said okay, but i noticed that she did not do anything and just assisted another customer who was checking out. I was not happy about it but i just assume that she will just do it later. Fast forward now, i called my credit card company and the customer service said no refund yet, i should contact the merchant. i have been trying to call thunderbird's contact number, no one is answering, i messaged their facebook page, no reply. Seriously so irresponsible! I will be forced to file a dispute if they don't cancel it. This will take effort on my part. calling again and emailing to file a dispute. So annoying really. Think twice before checking in this hotel. It's not just about the 8k. It's about treating your customers right when they encounter problems due to t his hotel's negligence.
