I am a frequent visitor of Discovery Primea, my family loves this hotel because of it’s homey feel, good food but importantly the outstanding service. So it is that I write this with disappointment and sadness as I really wish that Discovery Primea restore its wonderful service and the warmth and cheerful service it was and is still known for. So brace yourself for this long review and while it is a bad review, it comes from the heart so that Discovery Primea Management can pivot and recover more smoothly by listening to an honest to goodness “I wish you make the right adjustments” feedback from a concerned customer. Here goes…by the time we arrived at the hotel it was just 1 letdown after the other; I asked for an early check-in but the front desk could not guarantee an available room which is understandable. We still decided to arrive early in the hotel though in case a room becomes available. It turns out we did not get a room until check in time which is 2pm, again understandable but already diminished the excitement we had at coming back to start our vacation in our favorite hotel. So we waited in the Gilarmi Lounge (which was not open), I would like to add that at this point check in was unremarkable and notably less cheerful from the front desk staff. I know it is cliche but their hand over the heart greeting actually is what sets this service staff apart but there was much less of the meaningful gesture this time around. While waiting in the Gilarmi Lounge, there were no refreshements offered, no one from the front desk who came to at least just provide an update on the progress of our room availability 1 hour into the wait. Now you may say this is an exaggeration and too much expectation but I have experienced it from this hotel and again was disappointed that there was none of that concern for their waiting customers this time around. It’s these little gestures and genuine care that I came to love about this hotel! It feels like home! Sadly not this waiting time around. As we approached the lunch hour, we decided to have lunch in Tapenade, while the menu is definitely limited as compared to what they offered pre-pandemic, they still had a comprehensive menu. We decided to get from their Burger library menu and a salad, the waitress informed me it will take 15mins for the order to be prepared so no biggie…45 minutes in, was when we got our burgers and about 50mins in was when I got my salad. I don’t think I need to say anymore about that! Kudos though to the waitress coming back to us at some point to say she has followed up on our order but does not erase the fact that it took that long to get our food. Finally , we were told that our room was ready and so we headed up and settled in. While there were no siginifcant service booboos we encountered at this time, you can see that the room facilities while still very clean and nice looking, you can see some diminished quality in terms of completeness and upkeep - as I was working from the hotel that afternoon, I noted that the desk drawers no longer had their usual office supplies which I loved because it was quite adequate (i.e. stapler, post it, notes, pen, tape and scissors). We had to have the room a/c fixed because the temp was warm and the refrigerator did not also cool the drinks we stowed inside (you can just imagine we were well stocked as we had every intent to hole up in the room and enjoy our staycation). We had a couple of calls during our first afternoon stay just to get these fixed and for them to eventually change the ref. The following day, breakfast was in room (they do not offer breakfast buffet as they still do not have the permit to be able to provide this service in the restaurant). I ordered at 8:16am (American and Filipino breakfast set), we made sure to order early on as we made a reservation to swim by 10am. By 9am we were on the phone following up on our breakfast, the guest service staff who answered said she will check with the restaurant and never called us back, by 9:16am we called again and the front desk answered our call, he sounded much more pleasant compared to the guest service staff and we mentioned that we had called previously and the other person did not even bother to call us back to let us know what happened to our breakfast. This time around the front desk staff said he will call back, which he did and said the food will arrive in 15mins, we got our food 20 minutes after that. We were late to our pool reservation but this was the highlight of our stay so far, there was no one in the pool so we had it all to ourselves! The pool attendant was very alert, got our room #, promptly laid out our towels, provided us drinking water and offered to take our picture all with a warm and welcoming smile, ahhh, this is the service I have come to know and have missed since we checked in! Thirdy, bless you and thank you! Ikaw ang nagtayo ng bandila ng Discovery Primea sa iyong serbisyo. Who would have thought that a simple swim in the hotel pool would be the highlight of our stay! Having worked in the service industry myself, management has to pay attention to the customer journey because it is in these little interactions that you can truly delight your customers. After such a nice swim, sadly, it then went back to bad service again. Our room was not cleaned yet (despite my turning on the cleaning light). I had to call guest services again to request for the room to be cleaned. All this for our first night stay, I am hoping for the best and that for our 2nd night’s stay it will be better or at least not have anything go wrong. Suffice it to say, not a happy customer here after waiting for almost 2 years to come back again, it really was a letdown. Prior to our stay here, we stayed in Clark Marriot Hotel and I have to say the service there was infinitely better than what we had here. I regret not writing a review about Clark Marriot but again this goes to show that as a concerned customer, I want Discovery Primea to improve. Whatever the reason may be, (i.e.lack of staff, demotivation, financials), are understandable but your service standards is what will set you apart. All the best to you Discovery Primea and hopefully, when we decide to come again, it will be like meeting and old friend again.

The moment my ride arrived at the entrance, it already went bad. The security stalled my ride and asked me to open my window and wanted to show him my reservation number. Why the heck would security want my reservation?! Upon arriving, no one helped with my luggage, but the reception staffed walked me to the 2nd floor and showed me the way to the elevator going to up to my room. Compared to my stay in the nearby Peninsula Manila where the lobby is warm and inviting with people having a great time, Discovery Primea’s lobby look gloomy and deserted. Every time I go down and pass by the lobby no one would greet me and have to open the doors by myself, this place lost its warmth and hospitality. I recommend you take the room facing the residential area, the city view facing Glorietta is not a good view. They said the pool opens at 6am but when I arrived, the pool area is locked and had to wait 15mins for the pool staff to open it and place the pool mattresses. I should’ve stayed in Fairmont instead.

This year I wish I can travel back home to spend the long holidays with family as I usually do yearly in the past three years. Given the pandemic, it is specifically challenging to choose hotels to stay with the current restrictions. As of this writing, Pinas requires at least 6days stay at quarantine facility (i.e. hotel) and do a second covid test. I spent my covid quarantine with Discovery Primea in Makati and I highly recommend staying here for those thinking of going home this holiday season. Here is why: 1. Food The hotel serves complimentary breakfast, lunch and dinner (yes, three times a day and they're on time - I woke up and my breakfast was at the door). The servings are variety of classic Filipino dishes with rice, fresh fruits and a bottle of water. For the nights I stayed, i had pork tapa, tocino, bistek, longganisa, adobo, mechado, and variety fish dishes. You can also order from their menu (yes, they have onsite restaurant) and have food deliver to your room while you do movie marathon. They have margarita pizza, sandwiches, salads, pasta, ice cream, and assortment of liquors, among others- oh yes! wine, rum, vodka (name it!). 2. Room It was an excellent gesture from the hotel Manager, Ms Belle Ching, to upgrade my room to business executive suite and extend my stay for another day no charge since I checked in past 2am due to delay in airport procedures. My room was super spacious, with modern art and appliances. There's a separate living and dining room from the bedroom and a full tub and shower in the bath. The kitchen is spacious with counters, dinnerwares, microwave, coffee/tea corner, fridge, and a laundry machine (washer and dryer). The living room area has a sofa and a sleeper, and I love the office desk and chair with lampshade where you can work with a view of the streets of Ayala Avenue and the Rustans-Greenbelt shopping malls. The bedroom is roomy, big windows to have the same living room view, and blackout curtains that gives you privacy and darkens the room so you can booze to sleep after that long travel. 3. Transportation The hotel will include transportation services from airport to hotel (and from hotel to your home after quarantine) for a fee. The rates range from PhP3k to Ph5k depending on the size of car you need to fit the size of your group and luggages. The hotel will send you the details ahead of time of your driver and rental car details, as well as a concierge number to call as soon as you land. My driver had to wait for me for 2.5 hours to sign me out to pass the airport procedures (it was December and three flights came at the same time). Yet, he was all smiles when he came to the door to pick me up and took care of my luggages. 4. Location This location is perfect if you are travelling or has business events in Makati Financial District, BGC Fort Bonifacio and Manila area. The hotel is about 15-20mins from the airport. Shopping for whatever you need from luxury brands to grocery items are close by and walkable. Or if you just want to stroll. To name a few are Rustan's, SM Makati, Gloreitta and Greenbelt malls, Paseo Avenue circle, Philippine Stock Exchange, and EDSA Ayala train station. When I received my quarantine pass, I was able to get out and walk 5mins to Rustan's and Marc & Spencer in Glorietta to grab holiday baskets and gifts to bring home. 5. Others a. Checkin procedure was a breeze. I got in my room within 10mins. Concierge / lobby attendants were excellent. b. Room service was amazingly fast. I love their Basilur tea and requested for additional, and they gave it to me in 10mins. c. Onsite valet parking is available or you can park there on your own too if you have a rental car. d. Health and safety protocols are being implemented, and they wear masks and face shields.

I have just spent a week in Hotel Quarantine in an Executive Suite at this hotel. The hotel was great at every step of the way through the process, from helping me with the requirements, dealing with the Philippine authorities on my behalf, providing a car to pick me up and the whole experience was as painless as it could be. Pauline and ÄD" really went out of their way to assist me, especially with making sure my tests was done on the right day and my vaccination status was recognized by Quarantine which shortened my stay. The room was great, the extra space of the suite enabled me to feel like I was in an apartment, not a hotel room. If I have to do this again, I will be staying here..

I arrived from abroad to attend to a serious family emergency. I stayed at this hotel between Mar 7-12 to comply with quarantine requirements. The hotel staff were particularly friendly and welcoming. They cheerfully delivered materials between various members of my family (waiting at the hotel driveway) and myself throughout my stay. Finally, the hotel manager Belle Ching showed me much sympathy, extraordinary effort and great persistence while helping me navigate the complexities of the quarantine process. I would highly recommend staying at the Discovery Primea Makati.
