First of all. The staff are Super friendly and trying their best. So my assumption is that most of the issues come from management. I'm halfway through a 16 night stay. I stay in Manila a lot and have stayed in the Shangri-la BGC as a benchmark for 5 star. The hotel is very tired; the carpets in the hallways etc are grey with dirt and are very knackered. Most of the wood paneling is chipped. Some of the card readers in the lift don't work. Plug sockets don't work in the bedroos. And after 3 requests to engineering the water in the room still gets to warm but not hot. The Room The rooms are a great size, and could be a nice home away from home. But they lack decent volumes of natural day light. And the AC is very loud if you need it to cool properly. Dishwasher, fridge freezer and washing machine work well. I've cooked a couple of nights and everything you need is in the kitchen. In the bathroom, both rooms I had the shower head was broken, so was more of a waterfall fall than a shower, engineering fixed this on my second room. The bath and shower are a good size. But as above, you can't get the water hot (even after 3 requests to engineering) Room cleaning staff do a great job and the room always feels freshed (as it can do) when you get back. Gym and pool The gym and pool are on the third floor. The gym is in really good condition, with all the equipment you would need. It's also pretty quiet so you can get on with your work out without needing to wait for equipment. The pool is this places X factor. The view is cracking, it's a lovley place to chill on a weekend. Downsides is there's no real atmosphere, no music etc, and with a building site next door it's not the most relaxing soundtrack. You can have food and drinks beside the pool. But it's not the most obvious, you need to ask for the menu, which is limited and doesn't tell you can get alcohol (just ask for a beer :-) ) Breakfast This, especially on weekends is same what disorganised. I've seen people on quiet a few occasions been put on the same table as someone who's already arrived. Often you have to ask for water etc twice. Bowls seem to keep on running out. The hot stuff has the feel of a 80s buffer restaurant. Again, not issues for a 3 or maybe event 4 star hotel, but 5 star is it not. Overall, handy location, good sized rooms, really friendly staff, but the quality of the hotel itself is not at all 5 star especially they're charging basically the same price as the Shangri-la or Intercontinental …
This is our home whenever in the Philippines!!! Never fail to impress us! Very good facilities, perfect location and awesome people! Attended all our needs and exceeded our expectations! We will definitely be back!
My family and I had an amazing early holiday get-together. Great service from reservation, to check-in, and check-out. We even had a complimentary welcome cake. Starting from the Primea Double Suite room which was lovely - two bedroom with living and dining area, and a huge terrace overlooking Ayala. The dishwasher and washer made it convenient for us. The skyline at the infinity pool was breathtaking. Dining at Tapenade was also a treat. While the breakfast selections weren’t too many, they were carefully selected so all of the choices were delectable. Had a great dinner run at Flame Restaurant too - the Iberico Pork Secreto and Norwegian Salmon are unforgettable. We will definitely return soon!
We stayed at Discovery Primea in January in Manila after arriving from Discovery Shores in Borocay. We were greeted with the usual very polite and welcoming service and check in was a breeze. Our room was spacious with a city view, clean and with plenty of amenities. The breakfast is broad in its offering including both Filipino and western dishes and the highlights of the hotel are the infinity pool with its view across Manila’s skyline and also the rooftop dining at Flame and the outdoor terrace. We look forward to staying again when next in Manila. Special mention to Zandra, Jude and Alex who looked after us and made sure that our stay was very enjoyable. Truly service that's all heart!
We arrived Dec 8 ‘22 stayed for 1 week & left for Palawan & Boracay then came back & stayed for another week. The hotel was great and food was good and no complain. The service by far was the worst service we have received. No one is paying attention to the guest & they’re forgetful. They have a lot of employees & you need to flag them down every time. Servers rely on tips & I’ve been there & done that. But you have to earn it. Unfortunately, this establishment adds the service charge whether you get a good service or bad. I hope they train their employees to be more attentive to their guest.
Excellent service, front desk made check in seamless, needs/requests were attended to with care, and staff were courteous and respectful. Grateful to the shift manager who made sure our concerns were taken cared of. Breakfast was decent but the highlight of the stay was our view during new year’s eve.
Stayed a week in a 2 bedroom 2 1/2 bath loft. Bedrooms upstairs, living room and kitchen downstairs (room 1402). Had two of my wife's family stay with us for the week. Overall, we had an excellent stay. The staff were wonderful, and our housekeeper (Luz) was fantastic. The breakfast buffet was excellent (free if you book on their website), but only on the weekdays. Locals seem to frequent the buffet on weekends, and at that time it is simply overrun and not enjoyable. The location of the hotel is fantastic as there are tons of shops and restaurants within easy walking distance. There is also a great wine shop across the street (right across from the Peninsula) if you are in need of a good bottle of wine.
We chose Discovery Primea Makati because of its location despite the many negative comments we read on Trip Advisor. As seasoned travellers, we often find the place is not as bad as portrayed. We booked a 2-bedroom suite for 10 days and found the staffs, especially at the Front Desk, require further training and polishing. 1. Response to e-mails take days. We booked for airport pick-up. A week before we arrived, we were asked to pay upfront because airport pick-up is done with outside service provider. We agreed and sent payment. We asked to confirm if the driver will meet us (the usual case for arranged hotel pick-up). A number to call the driver was given. If the driver doesn’t respond, we have to call the hotel. We explained (and they know) we are coming from abroad and yet with this very expensive airport pick-up and exhausted from travelling, we have to get a local SIM card, figure out how it works and if the driver doesn’t respond, call the busy Front Desk. Great! We canceled the airport pick-up but it took days before we got any response. 2. Response to simple requests. Whenever we call Housekeeping, Front Desk answers. I asked for drinking glasses because the glasses provided were wine glasses. The drinking glasses never arrived. I requested a simple Christmas décor to give the living area some Christmas spirit. We were not expecting anything extravagant. Nothing came, not even a courtesy call to say our request cannot be granted. For three days, whenever we return back to our suite at noon, housekeeping was not done. I couldn’t blame Housekeeping since I noticed there was only one staff servicing the whole floor. I called and requested for priority cleaning. Instead of discreet reply of “Yes, ma’am, anything else?”; Front Desk staff said, “Why do you want your room to be clean? Are you checking out?” They knew the room number and they knew our length of stay so the reply left me speechless. I could have given some nasty reply but I bit my tongue and explained the reason for my request. To avoid any further stress from Front Desk, I approached the Housekeeping staff assigned to our floor and requested our suite be spruce-up first. 3. What long-stayers? Our original plan was to stay until Dec 15. We were informed the suite was already booked from Dec 23 – Dec 25. Two days before checking out, we received an e-mail asking if we want to extend our stay until Dec 25. We asked the room rate. One would think that if Primea couldn’t give us a discount even if the suite might stay empty for 3 days, the least they would do is offer the same rate we paid for 10-days stay. But no, we were offered a much higher rate. Very nice indeed! 4. Tactless. We arranged for Peninsula Manila to pick up our luggage. The Peninsula contacted Front Desk for seamless parking/loading. It was outmost tactlessness of Sharon to tell The Peninsula to remind us we have to settle our bill prior to checking out. Why the inappropriate reminder? The funds are already withheld from our account and with just a click of the mouse, Discovery Primea will get the payment. We will never go back to Discovery Primea. We’ve always stayed at The Peninsula and will continue in the future. All we wanted was a new hotel experience and what an experience!…
The hotel is conveniently located near shopping malls which are easily accessed on foot. The service is second-to-none and the staff are all friendly, helpful and welcoming. Our suite on the 7th floor was perfect and ideal for our family group of 3. The hotel has an infinity pool on the 3rd floor and a very pleasant, open-air, rooftop bar on the 16th floor serving excellent cocktails. Our only criticism was the breakfast; whilst there was a wide selection to suit all tastes and preferences, some of the traditional English breakfast items were cold and/or seemed to have been there a while.
Cozy beds with a lot of fluffy pillows. The living room was spacious perfect for families. Heated pool has a great view perfect for relaxing. In-room dining and buffet breakfast are excellent but not overpriced. Staff are warm, friendly, and attentive. We had a wonderful stay and will definitely come back
