Great hotel, in the thick of Makati. Still very relaxed and chilled once inside. The staff where awesome and an absolute credit to the hotel. Breakfast was delicious and hot.

The hotel is much smaller than most in the area, which I like, always space to sit and eat, always served immediately. Only downsides was that the bed wasn't the most comfortable and the bath was tiny. No way me and my girl could of got in together !

If you are looking for a decent budget hotel, this is the one.

Nice hotel, reasonably clean. Very dated: small badroom, some broken tiles etc. etc.
Small breakfast room, not too clean.

For anyone who regularly travels, the critical moment in any hotel stay comes when you are shown to your room. Probably the best tactic is to ask to see the room first if you have had bad experiences. I should have but did not!
We were taken to the floor of our room and when the lift doors opened, the air was full of dust and the air was thick with solvent such as glue for flooring -- renovations were in full swing. In moment it took to reach the room door, it was almost impossible to breath and clear that the smell would permeate into all the rooms. So back to the desk.
Apologies all round but a room of similar rating as we paid for was unavailable and they were heavily booked. So, for the first time in my life I was downgraded for one night. Room was comfy and clean but smaller that we had booked. As it turned out, we spent the second night with friends elsewhere. On returning, we were shifted to an appropriate room.
I did ask reception about a nice room on our floor and was advised by the manager that they were arranging for us to shift into a comparable room -- their junior suite.
The room was delightful and spacious. We had also been given complimentary cocktails (real not mock) at the Meridian Bar.
The Herald Suites is located in the midst of the Little Tokyo area -- tons of Japanese food available nearly including Hatsu Hana Tai within the hotel. The Coco Cafe serves a variety of a la carte breakfasts catering for western and eastern customers. It also serves various meals for lunch and dinner. The surrounding area is not the best that Makati has to offer but provides easy access to Global, Greenbelt, Rockwell, etc.
So overall, I can recommend Herald Suites. What makes it special is its old world charm (lots of wood and brass) and the truly fantastic staff -- no request is too much. They are gems!
Rooms in the older (front) section sometimes have issues with the cable (Destiny) compared to the newer section using Sky cable.

My family and I frequent the restaurants in your hotel, thus got to know your servers quite well. However, on one occassion that we ate there for lunch the waitress (grace) commented to my dad that she thought he was there for a date with the female companion we were all there with. That female was his secretary and the waitress made the comment in front of my mom. What made matters worst is that my children were with us. Maybe the hotel needs to train their staff in proper etiquette and courtesy.

It used to be one of the good hotels. But I guess i remember what it was around 10 years ago. The rooms are damp and smelly. The TV and other amenities are out dated. It could improve a lot since it has one of the good location in Makati.

Herald Suites is a pretty decent hotel frequented by Japanese. I stayed here for a conference and there was nothing much to complain except for the wifi signal. I love the pool area at the roof deck and the bar. The staffs were also great, they were friendly and accommodating.

Our room was very large and comfortable. It was very reasonably priced. It was clean and conveniently located from our relatives. The daily breakfast was good. We enjoyed the delicious garlic fried rice ever morning. The staffs were friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that the black tiles in the bathroom were creepy.

I stayed in this hotel for one night at the end of a trip to the Philippines. It is clearly aimed at the Japanese traveller - they had a large selection of Japanese cable TV channels on the small TV in the room and there is a decent-enough Japanese restaurant on the 2nd floor. The breakfast downstairs had excellent pancakes and a seleciton of quality fresh fruit for breakfast, and is highly recommended (and was included in our nightly rate). The main complaint is that all rooms are smoking rooms, and the smell in noticeable (we bought some flowers to improve the smell). The bed was also only a double and not the most comfortable, and the walls were a little discoloured. It is within walking distance to two huge shopping complexes (Greenbelt and Glorietta), so is in a great location. I recommend eating the ribs at the local 'Italian/New York' restaurant called Italianni's at Greenbelt 2.
