City Garden Hotel is one of the best values in Makati. The rooms are very comfortable. The service and experience its bigger sister at City Garden Grand, but its easier on the pesos. They made some improvements since my last visit. My room included a smart TV and a pitcher of potable water (refillable) re[laced the horrible plastic water bottles. A great move that shows CGH cares about the beautiful environment of the Philippines. The competent and cheerful staff is what makes CGH special for me. The young woman that checked me in remembered me from a previous visit was especially helpful as was the young woman that checked me out (Jin or Jini?). The location is perfect for shopping, dining, and nightlife. I look forward to staying with CGH again soon.

It's been awhile since the last time I have travelled. This is my first trip in 3 years and luckily I was able to visit Manila for the first time. It was difficult to find a room that has a double bed and also a single bed since I was travelling with family this time around. The hotel is decent but nothing fancy. The service was great and the room was quite spacious to accommodate 3 people. The bed though is a spring bed which some people might find uncomfortable. All the basic amenities were available along with an additional sink and counter area near the corridor since I was staying at the Executive Deluxe Twin room. The hotel buffet was quite good considering the price as it had all the basic breakfast foods along with what some considered as lunch meal items like spaghetti, rice etc. The location is great as it is in the middle of Makati where you can find alot of bars, restaurants and fast foods within a few mins walk from the hotel. Although the hotel is a bit dated, it was a pleasant stay.

This hotel is one of the best I have stayed in, the room was emacule in cleanliness and the in-house restaurant food was just amazing. The check-in staff where very helpful and got me into a room early and after a long 24 hours trying to sleep in terminals and aircraft I couldn't get to sleep fast enough. Thank you Maria, Pau, Jagie and Jane that was fantastic. If you are looking for a good, reasonable priced hotel, I can recommend City Gardens

Stayed at the City Garden Hotel twice during my recent trip to the Philippines.   I have to say that I had mixed experiences.   The Hotel is situated in a great location in Makati and is in the middle of the entertainment area. It has a rooftop pool and a restaurant on the top floor.

On the first time that I stayed at the beginning of March, the check in process was fantastic, quick, efficient and I was placed on the 19th floor as I had booked an executive room.   Room was nice, with a big bed, and plenty of room.  Very Happy.

On the second occasion at the end of March I arrived at 3.30pm and the check in process was VERY slow and inefficient.   I was kept waiting as my room was not ready!  AT 3.30pm!!!   I was originally placed on the 16th floor, again as I had booked an executive room, however, I was then downgraded and placed in a basic room on the 8th floor.   No refund or explanation, other than sorry your other room is not ready!   The room, as I said, was basic, the TV was placed on the side, not facing the bed, and could be moved so you couldn't watch it!   Wasn't happy at all.

So as I said mixed feelings, based on my first stay, I would stay here again, however, my second experience spoiled it for me and I'd say look elsewhere

Dear Markd, Thank you for sharing your feedback, both positive and constructive. We are truly disheartened to learn about your less than perfect experience due to late release of room from your previous visit with us. We are sincerely apologizing for this experience and we hope that this would not affect our relationship. As I have checked your booking you booked the Executive Queen and we gave you the original room. Unfortunately, last March 8-10, 2024, we gave you a onetime free upgrade to Deluxe Queen Room, that's why the room was different. Your comments regarding your second stay have been discussed with the department involved and rest assured that we are doing our best to constantly improve. I would like to end by saying that it was a pleasure to serve you at City Garden Hotel Makati and we hope to see you again soon where you can witness the improvements we have made. City gardens hotel is top notch. Excellent customer service, great food, each floor had service water where we can take a bottle and fill it up with cold water. Their currency exchange rate is correct 55P / $1 (not like this 4-star hotel I went to the next day and said rate of exchange is 52.55P/$1) City garden advertises the currency exchange rate. Asked for rubber mat for shower floor and within minutes someone was at my door with a mat.

First of all, kudos to the front desk staff. Particularly Aibe, the staff are just as if not more friendly and attentive than any of the many five star hotels I've stayed in greather Manila. As for the hotel, the rooms, in room dining, and facilities make this hotel an astounding value. Having stayed a block away at the City Garden Grand, this hotel is definitely a more comfortable and convenient stay at so much lower a price. The rooms at City Garden Hotel are adequate size with all of the expected amenities. Nothing superglamorous, but safe, clean, comfortable and ample. The area is reasonably walkable (particularly for bar hopping), and a short taxi ride to major malls & attractions in Makati.

I’ve stayed at City Garden Hotel Makati at least a dozen times and have always had a great experience. This trip has been no different. Gael, Jane, Aibe, Jem, and Jairon were kind and welcoming when my partner and I arrived. Jane even remembered me from my last stay and greeted me as “the surfer.” I would suggest City Garden Hotel Makati to anyone visiting Manila that wants to take advantage of the bars and restaurants in Poblacion and would like a clean, quiet, and friendly place to stay at.

We stayed here for one night in mid-January. Based on our experience, we probably would not return.

We booked the room about eight months prior to our stay, and booked an executive queen room. When we checked in, they said that they were giving us a free “upgrade” to a room with two small beds – a double and a single. When I commented that this was no upgrade, and we’d prefer to go with the queen room that we had booked, they then switched gears and said they were sold out of the executive queen. How, given that we’d booked eight months out?!? We complained, but they refused to give us any sort of compensation. This struck us as very dishonest. We had made a reservation, and we expected it to be honoured. We did not want their “upgrade” that was in fact a downgrade.

The room they gave us wasn’t in great condition, and the lighting was very poor. Random switches on the walls controlled random things, very strange. The breakfast was free and was okay, though food items didn’t have allergen information listed.

The one good thing I’ll say is that they let us check out 15 minutes late. But, due to the dishonesty in them not upholding our reservation, we would not return.

Enjoyed this hotel despite some minor irritations.

Check in was quick and efficient but I really don’t agree with having my credit card charged 4000 pesos for future food and drink purchases. Naturally when I checked out, I was informed it would take 14 days to get a refund of the 4000 pesos.

Room was spacious and bed very comfy. Never managed to get the aircon cold enough despite the engineer having a look at it. Was obviously a problem with the ac as when I swapped rooms later in the stay the aircon was too cold 😛.
Only other room irritant was that the toilet took about 15 minutes to refill after a flush. Complained about it twice. Problem was never solved.

I extended the stay and the extension was dealt with brilliantly by reception who were great throughout (as were all the staff). Special mention to Jeannie on front desk.

Couple of other small irritants. There’s no service lift in this hotel so on a number of occasions you’re sharing the lift with staff members and big wheelie bins of trash, paint, various trollies etc etc.

Pool area is really nice but can get busy in afternoon. Can be loads of kids in it so probably don’t expect a romantic swim with your partner.
Gym is ok although equipment looking a bit old.

All in all I enjoyed it a lot and the staff certainly contribute to the great atmosphere.

Will definitely stay again.

Your generous comments about our service are what fuels us to strive harder to achieve excellence in every work we do. We liked everything about our stay and the property, including the amazing rooftop pool/bar with an incredible view of downtown Makati and greater Manila and of course our room itself was very clean and comfortable, it met all of our needs. We only stayed there for a very short time, less than twelve hours to be exact, due to a long layover before our final destination in the Philippines. We actually only booked the room so that we could get even just a few hours rest before our next flight and it ended up being well worth the drive from the airport even in heavy traffic, so much so that we'd definitely stay there again if we're ever in Manila for a longer visit!
