This is a fairly new property so expect a clean room with the amenities you expect in a 4-star or even 5-star resort. I like the architecture of the row houses because it is like wandering down the alleys of San Francisco. The only disappointment we experienced is their breakfast which is more of a 3-star. The pool is popular with families with small children but adults also enjoyed it. I will recommend this hotel for a quick getaway from the stressful jungles of Metro Manila.

My wife and I were looking for some R&R last December 2007 and chanced upon the Pontefino Hotel on the internet. It advertised terrific food, great facilities and a very good massage for the weary traveler. After a long drive from Manila, we arrived at around 2 in the afternoon, and ordered lunch at the hotel. Not only was the menu very limited ( some items were not even available ), it took them a hour or more to serve us the food. When the food arrived, it was cold. The waiters and waitresses were inattentive, despite the fact that we were the only ones eating at that time. Another group of people, who arrived much later than we were served ahead of us.

After this unwelcome beginning, we had to order our dinner at five to make sure that we would be served food at seven pm. After dinner, a group of friends wanted to try their much advertised massage, but there was only one masseuse available.

When we finally went to our rooms to get some sleep, we found out that there was this pump that kept on running every two or three minutes and it gave out a very terrible noise that sounded like an aircraft engine about to break down. We could just stare at the ceiling in disbelief. We called the front desk and they said that our room was on the floor just below the pump that supplied water to the hotel and they could not shut it down. Sorry for the inconvenience. Do you believe that ??!!!

It was not all bad however, when we were about to check out the next day, the hotel staff gave us the right directions on how to get out of this place and proceed to our next destination.

This hotel needs a chef. I would give the hotel a USA rating of 4 stars, excellent old historical building it's been renovated but without taking away the charm of an old manor, the grounds are very nice, it's amazing having a hotel of this charm in Bantangas as the town or city is a noisy busy smoky heavy traffic city. The pool, ( see pictures ) lobby, rooms, staff are all excellent. One problem was the food. My wife and I paid for hotel with breakfast. The breakfast ( no buffet ) was served as a small one sheet menu basiclly eggs and toast. Even though we asked for our eggs to be cooked soft but not runny, that's what we got runny white eggs. The dinner was not much better, for the prices they charged I would expected much better I had prawns over a bed of rice, the prawn shells were burnt and, even though I removed the shell the burn charcoal was left on the rice with little or no sauce. My wife had a more local dish of noodles but t was bland and could of been served better from any fast food court in the local mall. Not the kind of food for a 4 star hotel. However, the hotel makes up for the bad food as it's excellent in decor and style.
Tips: Not close to Manila City, in fact unless you're driving your own car I would have troubling finding transport to Manila as it's at least 2 - 3 hours away via car direct, via bus give yourself 4 - 5 hours. There is no taxis in Batangas only jeepinies ( kind of bus service ) and trices ( taxi motor bike with sidecar ) if you like to be adventurous try the trices for a trip to downtown Batangas it's 50 - 100 P or $1 - $2 US dollars. if you use the hotel transport you'll pay 600 P = $12 US. Always get a price from the trices before setting off as they will over charge as much as 10 times if you don't.

Just wrapped up my stay at this lovely 4-star hotel, and it was a pretty sweet experience! The check-in vibes were welcoming, and the room felt like a cozy little heaven with all the goodies you'd need. The staff? Super friendly and always ready to make your day brighter.

The hotel's got some cool facilities too – I had a blast at the pool and hit the gym for a quick sweat sesh. Dining options were on point, and I tried a bit of everything – a foodie's dream come true, the buffet also!

This hotel was recommended by the staff at Shell Batangas refinery. Nicely decorated with Christmas lights and a beautiful tree at the reception. It's fairly close to the mall as well. Room is clean and tidy.

We would like to share our experience and express our gratitude through in a short period of our stay. We found it very enjoyable. The entire staff deserve commendation for acting very professional in a manner the way they entertain us to mention staff in the poolside (marlon and pm shift) they really doing their job! 👍🏻👍🏻. Their courteousness are exceptionally incomparable. But before ending this special mention to Mr. Lumba for his entering effort sharing his vast experince in Hotel Management, to make Pontefino Hotel to be the best in Batangas.

I stayed here for 3 nights whilst in town on a business trip. Bitterly disappointed.

First the positives. The room was nicer than expected. I was given a free upgrade to a suite and was generally very good. The hotel "Looks" nice, but this is where the positives stop.

First the breakfast is abysmal, i don't consider, burnt cold scrambled eggs in an open container and some supermarket bought bread and pathetic tiny toaster, coffee served from a large warm receptacle and processed cheese and jam, plus some other substandard food an acceptable breakfast.

Evening meal, was acceptable, but not great.

I was extremely angered to be told i cannot park in the car park as it was full and told to park across a very busy street in an unsecured car park with no crossings. I found there there was some places to park inside, but were barriered off as they were reserved. I went to see the manager, who i am told was not on the premises. Someone else came out and told me that they were reserved for disabled guests (there were lots of reserved spots which cannot all be reserved for disabled guests). Imagine my surprise less than 5 mins later the security guard remove some of the barriers and some non-disabled guests parked there, The staff could not explain to me why this happened nor why the manager was not there.

Also a private party was happening which was very loud and disturbing, i expect this is the real reason there was no parking. I don't appreciate being treated as a sub standard guest, clearly there were more "important" guests than me. Disgraceful behaviour.

Very poor management is the problem here and it is a blatant lie to be described as luxurious. I don't know what the qualification is for 4 stars, but it certainly doesn't feel like a 4 star hotel.

All in all, very disappointing, and will avoid staying here ever again.

It's my understanding that breakfast is included with all rooms. Breakfast was included with our room when we stayed. Why not email or call the hotel directly?
