Pontefino Hotel and Residences is not difficult to miss in the city of Batangas because of its colorful residential units. The hotel’s good location (5-minute drive from SM Batangas) can easily attract guests, foreigners or locals, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re on a budget; one night for a standard room costs P6000 (as of Oct 2016).

When my colleagues and I arrived at Pontefino, we were greeted by the warm smiles of the staff. They were really friendly and accommodating to their guests. Downside though, I learned some of my workmates received welcome refreshments a few of us didn’t. Don’t know why😦

I checked the pool located at the back of the lobby and restaurant. It was quite big with a couple of native lounge chairs around its periphery. It was pretty and inviting but I noticed the water’s not that clear. Hesitantly, we went swimming not once but twice. We didn’t get any itch or rash so I guess the water’s fine.

The rooms were nice and spacious. Ours had a nice view of the pool but it needs a bit of upkeeping most especially the bathroom (parts of the wall had stains and looked old). The rooms had slippers, shampoos, soaps, toothbrushes and toothpastes but given the price of the room, I was expecting more like bathrobes, lotions, a safety box etc. Internet connection/ WiFi inside the rooms needs improvement too; the one at the lobby, however, is faster.

Room prices include a buffet breakfast served at the restaurant just beside the lobby at 6 in the morning to 10am. There were breads, cereals, Filipino dishes and fruits. They also served unlimited brewed coffee (Batangas’ famous Kapeng Barako), tea and one fruit juice. The choices were few but the food tasted nice, they just need to cut down the oil on their Chicken steak (I think it’s Adobo). My favorite was the lomi which is also a Batangas specialty, so don’t forget to try it.

Another thumbs-up for me is its gym facilities. They have treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, weights and balls. Their yoga mats need some cleaning; it was a bit scary to use it even after putting a large towel over it.

Overall, Pontefino is a nice hotel with warm and accommodating staff but I think it’s quite pricey given the quality of its facilities. The colorful residential units, on the other hand, are really a stand-out and can serve as beautiful backdrops for your OOTD. :)Location-wise, its very accessible by jeepney, tricyle or cab. The place is currently under construction and sometimes we would hear loud construction-like noises in our room, sometimes as late as 9 in the evening. It was disturbing during the first night but we got used to it. Hopefully, the hotel management will do something about it. So……if I would rate Pontefino Hotel and Residences I’d give it a score of 7/10.

Things to know:

Check-in time is at 12pm. Check-out time is at 2pm.
Pool operation starts from 8am to 10pm. They also distribute towels for those who want to swim, just ask one of the staff.
The gym opens earlier than the pool and closes at 10pm as well. Gym users can also ask for a towel.
Pontefino has their own BPI ATM machine.

I have been here several times already for luncheon or dinner, but my first time to check-in with my wife and 3 kids, early this month.

Staff - friendly and courteous. We are checked in fast since we have reservation already.

Lobby - this is what I like, ambiance is good, sofa is nice.

Room - clean, huge, average interior, no carpet, 32-inch flat sceen tv is in weird viewing angle you need to drag the tv stand, internet is fast, the bathroom sink is in the room not in the bathoom (weird and poor design)

Bathroom- just regular with bathtub, small, no fancy things, sink is outside (poor design),

Breakfast- few choices, limited to bread, jellies, juice, coffie, you can ask for newly-cooked scramble egg. I dont even remember if the are hotdogs, meat loaf, etc. Since me have 4 breakfast stubs, we got to order from their menu like beef, spanish sardines and sausages but I checked the price, around 380-430php each.

Pool - they have 3. Large is 4ft deep which I like. The medium is for kids, aroud 3ft I think. Then the jacuzi. No thermo regulator. My kids liked the pool though.

This hotel is pricey since it is just average and not at par with Manila standard within that price range.

I will still recommend it coz it is the only good hotel in the Batangas City area.

Stayed at the Premium room on 19-21Dec 2013 with a total cost of 16,600 pesos including extra charge because one of our kids is already above 12 y.o. Other hotels do not charge extra as long as the family of 4 will not ask for extra beds. Breakfast buffet only consisted of garlic rice, embutido and egg omelet plus the bread, juice and coffee. Since it's advertised as buffet, it would be good to at least 3 or more main dishes to choose from.
Anyway, the staff were helpful and attentive and they brought requested materials such as toiletries promptly. They also have a swimming pool which entices hotel guests but I will think twice about making a booking in this hotel again.

Stayed for three days for a conference. Hotel room was spacious and clean. Had no problems with wi-fi. Hotel staff was accommodating but had to repeat instructions several times. Hotel is quiet which is really nice especially if you're just passing from staying from puerto galera.

Quite nice, spacious tiled-floor room, but I only stayed overnight. Impressive entrance foyer. Free wi-fi in the foyer, OK restaurant, minimal breakfast. The pool looked nice but we had to leave before using.

This property is not new but it has been well maintained over the years.

Pros:

1. Roooms are spacious and clean.
2. Bathrooms have good strong running hot water.
3. Closet space is big enough for a week's worth of clothes plus more.
4. Driving to Batangas is very easy with the SLEX extension to the Star Tollway.
5. Service at the coffee shop is good, servers are attentive to your needs.
6. Breakfast buffet is simple fare, nothing fancy.

Cons:

1. Elevator carpet has a distinct odor, needs to be changed/cleaned regularly.
2. Rooms are tiled, can be a bit slippery - be careful.
3. Room rate is a bit pricey for a hotel outside of Metro Manila.

Just a month ago, we had a vacation in Pontefino Hotel at Batangas City. For me this is the perfect place to relax, and it indeed unwinds me from all the hectic schedules and quotas of my job. I stayed there for about 3days, but I must say that my stays in Pontefino hotel were truly unforgettable.

Pontefino Hotel has a great place to stay for a vacation trip. The staff made a very warm welcome, then the ambiance was simply fabulous. I check-In and took the Premium Room. The room service is also very accommodating and they serve very fast and efficient. The room was excellent, furnished with two single beds and a sofa bed. The room amenities are one things that I enjoyed most it has the Mini Bar, Broadband Internet Connection, Cable TV Programming, Living Area, Pantry Area and the most beneficial for me the coffee/tea making facilities.

I enjoyed the used of their facilities too. I worked out with their fitness center. I was amazed that they have a fully equipped equipment with generous workout space. Not only that, they also have a 25-meter swimming pool which I enjoyed also my nephews said they love swimming into the children s wadding pool.

After so much fun with their facilities and amenities I took a massage service, their staffs was every friendly with fine Filipino hospitality. I received not just what I wanted, but they gave the best I could be possibly has and enjoyed. The Hotel's Robusta Cafe was spectacular. It made our dining experience worth it and very relaxed while we're enjoying the food and especially the meriendas together with coffee, even the afternoon tea breaks.

My family says they enjoyed our short vacation here, either me. The only thing lingers in my minds while staying, is the pleasure and the spirit of harmony, which encapsulated in the hotel. As a guest I found satisfaction.

This is a fairly new property so expect a clean room with the amenities you expect in a 4-star or even 5-star resort. I like the architecture of the row houses because it is like wandering down the alleys of San Francisco. The only disappointment we experienced is their breakfast which is more of a 3-star. The pool is popular with families with small children but adults also enjoyed it. I will recommend this hotel for a quick getaway from the stressful jungles of Metro Manila.
