The resort is actually a series of several buildings with a small pool and private beach. If you are not a diver, there is still a nice area to relax. Meals are locally sourced and served home style in an open air dining room-some of the best food we had in PI. Our room was clean and staff were helpful. While it is on the pricey side to both stay and dive, we had a great time and it was worth the money. Highly recommend.

I have stayed here several times since May 2014 and I decided it was time to write a review of the place I have come to love and from a perspective of a new diver.
I have to say that I have also tried a more up-scale resort nearby in June 2014. It was slightly more expensive and offered extra amenities like hot cocoa and fruits in-between dives while on the boat. But despite this very nice service, the up-scale resort felt like it was just business. From the staff to the rooms to the grounds.
Pier Uno on the other hand feels homey. It may not be the cheapest, but hey, you get what you pay for. The staff at Pier Uno are friendly and always ready to assist. The resort may be look dated at first glance but everything is kept clean, tidy and neat. There are rooms for improvement (pun intended :P) in terms of the towels in the shower, but its minor. There are many variety of rooms and all are truly clean and very comfortable. A restful night is almost guaranteed. Trust me, I have tried almost all of the rooms.
Most of us are also not paying for a meal at a 5-star restaurant so please don't expect it to be so. But having said that, the food is actually pretty decent. A weekend stay (Sat-Sun) gives you 5 meals. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast and Lunch). Plus, I would imagine it being hard for anyone to place a 5-star restaurant all the way out there and maintain its quality consistently. But critics will always be critics.
If you want to take up diving or get an introduction in diving for fun, look no further. I may be biased but I think I was trained by the best instructor, Mr Dong Vergara. He is one of the instructors that regulars at this resort. Personally, I felt his guidance was excellent. His instructions were clear and concise and more importantly he gives you the feel that you are truly looked after during a dive, regardless of whether you are still taking your course or diving for fun. Do call the front desk for more info.
They also have a new dive pool for beginners who want to take up diving and it looks brilliant! I also saw them building a new shelter just outside for dining, alfresco style! I'm glad the resort is putting in effort to upgrade the facilities.
From having visited this resort several times, I now know why on many weekends its fully booked! It truly deserves more excellent reviews than it currently has, actually more reviews, period. Keep up the good work!
Might I also suggest having some hot cocoa and fruits/snacks during dives too? :P Its something you should seriously look into for the long-term, how much could hot cocoa cost to provide? I wouldn't mind paying a little more to feel looked after. These are the kind of things that alleviate your resort to the next level. :)

Looked for a decent place to stay over the weekend for diving and a DM asked me to join his group in pier uno. Checked the place on the net, decent photos and pictures. Packed my gear and headed south. The net campaign was justified. It was clean and people were really nice. Their restaurant / cafe was great, food was excellent. Reasonable prices as well... going back as soon as I can...
Tip: be sure to honk your horn as you descend...

My sister who is a diver is a regular customer here. Her dive master is a resident diver at this resort and I stayed here with my sisters when one of my other sisters arrived from Norway for a dive trip. The place is clean and with a friendly staff to boot who took care of everything for us. I enjoyed snorkeling while my sisters did their dives. I love the buffet style lunch they offered and the unlimited supply of coffee and juice throughout the day. I would highly recommend this resort for dive fanatics and non-divers like me. The pool is just average but with a nice view of the beach. It is also a resort I would recommend if you want to have peace and quiet and have a relaxing time.

We really enjoyed here. Great food, staff are warm, accommodating and very friendly. Tea, coffee and hot choco are unlimited. Didn't have any problem in our room, everything worked perfectly. Pool is clean. We are already planning our next visit with our dogs again. Yes, they do allow dogs as long as they are well-behaved (meaning no barking and no biting).

Pier Uno is well run. Staff are courteous & friendly. Be aware that there is no "sand beach" here. The Food is asian/western influence. Room was their best - overlooking ocean. p.s. room was compact but aircon, TV worked. Hot water not working in shower. Basin tap water pressure very low. Toilet worked. Pool clean but crowded if a group of divers are training in it. Resort has 2 boats to take you to near by coral reefs - at extra cost. Best to share cost of boat hire with others. Can also go out on boat for snorkeling if scuba diving is not your thing. Scuba hire is available at Pier Uno. However, nothing for children. Wet suits, fins, masks, tanks, etc - sizing aimed at teenagers & adults.

They have very accommodating staff and they are many to attend to all your needs immediately.
Good food with good taste and variety! And it was always buffet so you can eat as much as you can. They have ala carte but you have to wait a little longer. Food ala carte are not very pricey too!
Very nice accommodation too! I booked a Casita but they were all occupied. So they upgraded me to the Executive Suite.
The toiletries is a minus but it didnt really ruin our stay. So i recommend that you bring your own set.
A lot of activities to do - diving, island hopping, snorkeling, and kayak which are affordable. They also offer massage and mani-ped which i have not tried due to lack of time. Nice pool and relaxing beach front area too!!!
Over all, will return and will definitely refer this place!

I just came back from Anilao and I stayed two days, one night, at pier uno resort. the place it self is not totally bad. I guess for divers can be a good place, quiet and near to diving spots. I paid for a "superior" double room 7,000peso. now...or they over price the rooms, or they squeeze the foreigner. in both cases this is not fair! the room was small, roof was with humidity spots, the cr was stinky...not possible to blind the windows. the air con is very old and noisy. there is no fridge in the room...they only serve a vase of filtered water (at least I hope it was not from the tap). the rates also for activities are crazy...3,000peso for two hours on the boat for snorkeling and taxi to a nearby beach...and 5,000 for jet sky one hour. and the funny part is that they also run out of boats and jet skys...so even if willing to pay we couldn't do anything the second day. breakfast and other meals are a buffet concept...but the quality is really poor. I went the day after to anilao beach resort just beside pier uno and for a double superior room (brand new) they charged 3,500 and 3,000 for the jet sky, and 2,500 boat for the full day!!! I was honestly very disappointed from pier uno and I will not go back there...much better abc resort.

Pier Uno Dive Resort is a first class resort. From their friendly service with a smile to their professionalism of the dive master who ensures safe and wonderful dives. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The resort itself is a sight to see, beautiful and inviting. The surreal sunsets adds to the mystic of Pier Uno. If you are looking for a place in the Philippines to rest and relax, this is the place. Then there is the SCUBA diving of the local reefs. Just WOW! This is one resort where the real thing is better than the pictures posted on their website. Pier Uno Dive Resort is the best value for dollar. Will definitely go back next year and would like to Thank them for all you have done.
