Kids really enjoyed the dessert.
When I return to Baguio, I am thinking of checking in as well to have the whole B&B experience.
I highly recommend a visit to this place when in Baguio.
- Not your typical room, really the first thing that caught my attention
- Good food
- Nice ambiance, design, and b&b feel
- great staff
- a clean place
- we came in early and with no reservation but they accommodated us and let us leave our bags and get back on check in time
- book this if you don't want the busy areas (session road, burnham park, etc)
Cons:
- not walking distance to other baguio sites.
- a bit hard to catch a taxi (solution: use grab)
DO NOT SUPPORT CRUELTY TO CHILDREN.
We made a reservation prior to dining and we arrived 15 minutes earlier than the reservation time. But, the waitress said that all tables inside are already occupied and they are placing us in the freezing veranda.
We requested POLITELY that we need to be inside (we saw that there are still vacant tables) since we have an infant and two children. Besides, they did not mentioned during the reservation that they will be placing us outside. Otherwise, we should have reconsidered. But, instead of handling the problem, all them are like deafs who just walked out and let a junior crew handle the problem.
Then the junior crew offered the UG level which we are fine with but we wanted to make sure that it’s suitable for dining. One of our children has an asthma and can’t be exposed to dust.
However, They don’t want to let us in bec they said that it is being tidied up. We insisted, apparently, the real reason is there is already a group inside. And they don’t know how to fit us in.
Plus, what made it worse is another waitress told the junior staff “bahala ka dyan, pagkasyahin mo yan, sa veranda kasi dapat yan” WOW! seriously that b$&ch mentioned that in front of us. So I explained to these two arrogant crew and the group of adults inside, that we made a reservation and no mention that we are being placed outside. Moreso, we cannot dine outside as we have an infant and children who cannot withstand the freezing temp and drizzle outside.
While problem is not yet solved, another waitress asked us to order food while they are sorting out the issue. I cannot fathom the insensitivity and arrogance on this. YOU ARE ASKING US TO ORDER WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING WHERE TO PLACE US? This must be a joke.
At the end, we decided to leave as no one is paying attention.
Maybe I should have scolded them and stopped being polite, be assertive, made a scene, maybe their treatment is better and we got what we need. But, our family has class and breeding and we don’t make patol to low people like these. haha! Anyway, You lost a loyal patron and the rest of my circle.
Thanks to this experience because we found a new favorite and better dining place beside them.
Vincent’s Place people are more warm and accommodating to children. Better service. Ambiance and food are way way better and with a SPACIOUS PARKING LOT.
AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE BUSINESS TO A CRUEL, ARROGANT AND INSENSITIVE PLACE LIKE THIS.
We love how the place was designed. Very homey and country-style which we like way better than the modern hotel-type of accomodation. The only problem here is when you are staying in the Yuri room at the basement, you'll be hearing the jumping and the running of the guests staying upstairs (especially if there are kids who love to play and run around a lot). I suggest you get the room other than Yuri because of this.
Food in Forest House spells quality. Presentation-wise and the taste, they are all good. My kids are picky eaters and don't usually finish their food, but here it was all different. The loved (and finished) the food as much as we did.
Service is great as well. Staffs are courteous and will try to accomodate all your requests. We started our tour at 6am so we requested for a very early breakfast though they usually serve them at 7am. They really find ways and exert efforts to make your stay comfortable.
With all things said I think Forest House is indeed the best B&B in Baguio. We will definitely go back and recommend to friends.
Our room was so spacious and offers an awesome view of the mountains. Bed was very comfortable, spacious closet and the restroom was remarkable! They do not have a bidet though. But definitely manageable. The interior design of the room and the entire establishment was astonishing - rustic and very homey. From their facade to the hallways, to their dining areas, to the rooms, it was all outstanding!
The food was superb. Nothing frustrating. We bought a beef steak and a single chunk will surely send your taste buds into a frenzy! A friend shared with me that their Baguio trip is never complete without paying Forest House a visit.
The best part of my experience here was the staff. Polite, professional, and they engage their guests excellently. Very well trained staff!
Forest House is located close to Victory Liner bus terminal.
Overall, our stay was great. It felt like we're in middle-earth! This is the best bed & breakfast I've been to in the Philippines so far!
We booked two different rooms for two nights (Keanu and Yuri) because no room was available for a straight two night's stay but I HIGHLY recommend that you stay at different rooms each night just to experience their other rooms. They only have 5!
Rooms:
The best thing for me in are the quaint rooms and the strawberry soap! Now onto the rest..
Good thing about this place was the really really cozy rooms and pretty decors though some decors in their official photographs are not there anymore. I wanted to get the room with the bathtub (Kahlil) but it wasn't available.
Keanu room was really nice. I particularly love the "meditation area" it has which could be great as a reading nook or even a personal yoga session. The only problem I have with this room was I can hear the baby in the other room crying and it can be a hassle if you're trying to relax. There's a sliding door to a small garden outside.
Yuri room was awesome with it's grape vines. I love love love it! The bathroom tiles are in royal/deep blue color which looked great to me. Again, the problem is that you can hear people from upstairs walking and dragging stuff. The sliding door leads outside and to the small garden they have in the backyard. A table and two chairs are also outside if you want to relax outside.
We were able take a peek at Teddy and Chelsea's room which are both big rooms. Teddy has got the best view because of it's wide windows.
Rooms don't have airconditioning and for rooms such as Yuri that doesn't have windows, it can be a bit unpleasant during the summer (although I'm a bit biased because I have a different tolerance for heat since I live in Baguio already). This is fine for me though, since most hotels in Baguio don't have airconditioning and I'm used to it.
Service:
Service is great in our experience although sometimes it takes a while for them to go to your room. I think it's probably because their staff is also catering to the restaurant apart from servicing the rooms. When we had to go out before our first night's checkout time. We only had to place our stuff in one corner of the room and they transferred our things to our next room while we were out.
Food:
They have a complimentary breafkast and the good thing about it is they serve the same meals they serve in the restaurant. You can get american and filipino breakfast (which includes bagnet!) and some omelettes. For drinks you can get their tea, hot chocolate, coffee, iced tea and juices. You have the option to eat at their restaurant or inside your room. We chose to eat inside our rooms and I could say that it still felt like being served in a restaurant!
We also ordered two slices of cakes and the presentation was really great to the point that we didn't want to touch the garnish! We ordered Michael Angelo which was like sansrival and Chocolate Mousse which was nice but I grew up with Red Ribbon's so that's always going to come first.
When we had our anniversary last year, we ordered Homemade Bagnet and Wild Mushroom Cream Soup for starters. For the main course, we ordered Baby Back Ribs and Forest House Lamb. Also ordered their hot chocolate. Both soup and drinks are served with a toothpick with nice quotes!
Food is a bit expensive compared to other restaurants in Baguio but the experience is really great. You can dine inside the restaurant or in the veranda which has a nice view.
Location:
The location is near the city proper and is great if you have a car (they have a parking space). It can be hard to take a taxi and you have to wait most of the time. You can still walk a bit to get to the area where there are many taxis though. At night, it can be hard to get food because the nearest convenience store is a bit far.
