AL BASATEEN HOTEL APARTMENT

We stayed in Sur for a few days while we toured the sights in the local area. Our stay at the Al Basateen Hotel Apartment was really nice. We had something of a kitchen (sink, microwave, kettle, dishes, cutlery) and separate bedrooms (kids in 1, parents in the other) and living space which was nice. We ordered food in from local restaurants and ate in the apartment which was also nice rather than always going out to a restaurant to eat. The staff were really nice and willing to help in any way. The hotel is located a fair distance from the centre of Sur, so you'll need to drive to get around. The hotel is a very short walk to the beach across the main road. The wifi was intermittent but when it was working, it worked well. We had a nice stay and I'd recommend this place to other travellers.…

Home stay near beach

Me and my friend stayed in a 1 bedroom apartment. The apartment is specious, the bed is huge. Very clean. Super value for money. Kitchen should have some basic items like tea bags, sugar, milk, spoon, washing items etc.

Adequate

The Al Basateen Hotel Apartment is located west out of the centre of Sur, opposite the beach. The place is adequate for one night. The two-bedroom apartment was of a good size with large bedrooms and efficient air conditioning. The furniture was in a poor state. With only a bit of maintenance and investment, this could be four-star establishment. Cons: No breakfast facilities No wheelchair access Noisy at night – situated on a main road – quiet during the day, busy at night Commerces on the ground floor (laundries, tea shops, corner shop) No proper parking – dusty vacant lot on the side Furniture old and worn Sparsely furnished; e.g. no bedside cabinet, nor lamp Bathroom fittings corroded, no shower curtain, pain flaking from the ceiling Kitchen is poorly equipped Pros: Clean On the beach Ample car parking Out of town…

Simple but OK

A few km out of the centre you have this apartment. We had a 2 room (and 2 bathroom) apartment. Clean, airco and rather weeak wifi (as in many places in Oman). Friendly reception. For eating; you have to go out or ask a take away to bring some food. Parking in front of. In the morning, the noise of the mosque.

Lovely place for little money

Extraordinarily friendly staff! Makes you feel welcome and home and is quick with any further reservations, e.g. Turtle watching booking. Comfortable huge apartment with cozy beds. Everything clean and in order. There are coffee places around who also serve food. 1min to the beach although not very appealing for a swim or a lazy beach day. Would definitely go there again!!
