We booked this stay last minute during a trip to Sur. We were upgraded for free to an executive suite upon arrival which was a very large room with a lovely sea view. We were also offered espresso when we arrived which was very lovely. Apart from a slightly broken TV and very small leak in the bath, the stay was very good and perfect for a good nights rest before heading to Wadi Bani Khalid
For business reasons, I have stayed more than 7 month in this hotel. Many of the issues pointed out in other reviews I have been reading, I can only confirm. Let´s start from the bottom and go up. Front desc staff is friendly, yes. However, any question or request outside regular check-in or check-out procedure is too much for them. At this moment it becomes clear that verbal communication in english is limited to check-in/out requirements. Breakfast at restaurant. The offered breakfast is ok. However, if one likes to have a decent coffee, one has to know that there is a coffee machine and ask the waiter for either "Americano" or "Cappuccino". But, es mentioned in other revies, it is true that often there is no waiter around, tables are not been cleared. The egg station is not manned. How many times I had to open the door to the kitchen to call the cook. Rooms: Yes, the rooms are nice with lots of space. Housekeeping looks good at first sight. If you stay a little longer in this hotel, one finds out quickly that a vacuum cleaner is not used that frequently on the carpet. And yes, I can confirm what has been written in other reviews. Every now and than there is no hot water for the shower. After letting the water run for a long time, it becomes warm, at best. It´s a huge waste of water. The bed is comfortable. Wifi is also not stable. sometimes it has even failed completely, speed remains slow. Now, that there is construction going on right next to the existing hotel for the extension, expect to be bothered by construction noise even after 8 pm. Last, but not least pool and gym. The pool is only a bigger bath tub. So, don´t expect too much. And yes, it is true, in the desert sun they do not give any sunroof or other kind of sun protection. Spending a few hours on the pool is out of the question. And the gym, I have been there once. The weight machines I have tried did not work properly. Ropes are coming of the rolls, etc. Like many other things in this hotel, also here a lack of maintenance can be noticed. During my stay of more than 7 month, I have seen the hotel manager maybe 4 times. This also shows a certain neglegt and desinterest.…
Unfortunately, there was a huge construction site at the area and we were not informed about it upon booking. The hotel us old, dark and the floor had a bad smell. However, our room was clean. The breakfast was expensive and very poor. We recommend to stay there for one night maximum.
We were upgraded to a sea view room and the view from the balcony was fantastic. Very good sized room too and very comfy bed. The staff were very friendly and courteous. Despite not being particularly busy, the restaurant was very good. The butter chicken with paratha was a particular highlight. We stayed 2 nights here and used the hotel as a base for exploring sur, ras al hadd and ras al jinz turtle reserve. It was absolutely perfect for that, I would recommend people to do the same rather than staying in the overpriced ras al jinz. We had a great stay here.
The hotel is located outside the city center. It is quite ok, but does not show real amenities. The breakfast is simple, instant coffee, toast, some hot food and some fresh food. The staff is helpful. The WiFi was pretty slow, no heated pool, and an unpleasant smell was in our room.
