About

#1 of 26 B&Bs / Inns in Flic En Flac
Villa Osumare is a ten room guest house situated in a tropical garden setting opposite the Flic en Flac beach on the western coast of the island. The guest house itself is situated between the hotel Villa Caroline and the hotel Klondik right on the western seashore enabling you to watch beautiful daily sunsets from the veranda or from the roof terrace or on the beach. Also from Villa Osumare you can walk the entire white sand 6 kilometer Flic en Flac beach. Within a radius of 100 metres short walking distance there many restaurants and small noodle snack vendors, bars, post office, shopping, pharmacy, public transport etc, all this you can see on Google maps. Flic en Flac is some 40 kilometres from the airport. As Mauritius is subject to the South East trade wind, the South and South Eastern part of the island are subject to rain during the rainy season, however Flic en Flac, being situated on the western coast, we enjoy sunshine almost all the year round and the sea remains calm.

Just a very pleasant place. Not pretentious at all, very clean, beach a few minutes away and nice mix of guests. Breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the well maintained gardens and small pool. There's a large roof terrace for sunbathing or evening beer and also a smaller terrace/verandah with seats and small tables on the 1st floor. This is also where the best room are. Rooms aren't the biggest but more than adequate, bed was comfortable and there's an AC unit as well as a fan. Internet worked well during the length of our stay. The best parts of Flic en Flac beach are to middle / to the south, so either a 15/20 minute walk or a short car ride. Altogether a really nice base at a very reasonable price.

We had a good feeling about this place right from the start when we met Abi. You couldn't ask for a friendlier host. The villa is in the greenest and quietest part of Flic en Flac just a few meters from the beach. The villa is beautiful and cosy and very, very clean. The buffet breakfast was fresh and delicious with ample choice. There is a great bookcase full of beach reads in different languages. Nearby are a choice of good restaurants, bars and a big supermarket. We recommend Sunset Garden and the Thai restaurant Sawadee. The house is equipped with 4 or maybe even more different wi-fi hotspots. The rooms are tastefully decorated with a kettle and fridge, AC, a shower with high pressure hot water and gorgeous beds with luxury cotton sheets and the best pillows ever! We recommend you to go directly here for your dream holiday and rent a car from Genius (down the road) to visit the rest of the island. We were sorry to leave after 7 nights in paradise. We hope to come back and see you again soon Abi! Massi and Zarah

Tucked down a side street, it can be reached from the back or front entrance. We were emailed a map that got us there with no problem. Check in was prompt & were given a nice cold glass of water. We were on the 2nd floor, Room 9., which has a public balcony with many spots to sit & overlooks the neighbours ficus trees. The very clean room (for those who care, not me, it was even clean under the bed) was on the small side but enough room for our travel bags, efficient use of space with extra shelves. There was a double bed with 4 pillows & mosquito net (did not use). There was AC/ fan, small safe, fridge, kettle, cups, no coffee/tea; soap, no shampoo. They also do laundry 200 R a bag (provided), great service which we used & very pleased. They have a TV in a common sitting room if you need that, as well as a large library of books in several languages as well as games for entertainment. The WiFi was strong through our stay. Note, it has a strict policy of no eating of food in your room or on the premises for sanitary reasons. If you purchase take away food, eat it elsewhere. We were not fans of this rule but this is a very clean lodging & they are trying to keep the ants & other insects out. In our travels, we have seen ants in the room due to food so understand. Buffet breakfast served outside with nice assortment of local fruits (banana, pineapple, papaya & watermelon), nice breads, toaster, butter, jam, cheese, boiled eggs, coffee, tea, water & juices. All nicely laid out & re-stocked. This is a very well run guesthouse in a quiet neighbourhood. It is clean orderly, has a nice swimming pool, nice breakfast, great areas to sit & enjoy the weather, nice friendly manager & staff with a 10-15 walk to the main beach & beach food vendors but only 2 minute walk to the beach across the road. We've stayed in close to 30 guesthouses & hotels a winter for the past 4 winters and this one rates in the top 10% of guesthouses for cleanliness, facilities & quality. Also when there we met some very nice people from England, Hungary, Romania & Russia. Great place to stay, would stay there again.

For the 3rd time we have booked here again. The room with a view of trees, garden, beach through the trees. Room is not large but meets. New fan and wooden furniture. Breakfast is also extensive with boiled eggs and the best coffee on the island. New sun beds around the pool, which is also maintained every day.

We stayed in Villa Osumare for 9 nights and it was the best place we could have chosen. The staff is extremely friendly and there is always somebody around in case you have questions or just feel like chatting. The location could not have been any better in Flic en Flac. It's extremely clean and quiet, really close to the beach but also close to many restaurants and shops. The owner always had a tipp for us for our trips as well. We couldn't have asked for a better place really.
