Solana Beach Mauritius is often celebrated for its serene and welcoming atmosphere, particularly noted by guests marking special occasions. Travelers consistently commend the cleanliness of the resort, highlighting the meticulous daily housekeeping. While the all-inclusive package with diverse food options and water activities is popular among guests, some feel that the amenities could benefit from enhancements. The rooms, offering stunning sea views, have received mixed feedback regarding their upkeep and style. The hotel's secluded beachfront location is generally appreciated, though not without criticism regarding its remoteness. Opinions on value and service vary, with some guests encountering unexpected charges and inconsistent service levels.

8 days at the Solana beach resort, set on a fairly narrow stretch of beach, warm sea over a coral reef, snorkelling is well worth a go, a myriad of sea life to see, wear surf shoes though.
Initially given a second floor room, but no lifts, my wife has heart condition and stairs were an issue, quickly resolved by reception staff and following day were moved to ground floor.
The setting is lovely, thatched roofed buildings beautifully maintained gardens, large open bar and terrace area to have a relaxing cocktail, and evening entertainment club singers and bands.
Buffet restaurant had a great choice of meals themed nights Mauritian, Mediterranean, European etc. Breakfasts were plentiful hot and cold. Pomelo restaurant is waiter service and a la cart menu, even with your all inclusive package. All the food was excellent, apart from one meal which was below par, however management and chef redeemed themselves, the following day with a first class complimentary meal.
We also suggested the use of hand sanitizer in the buffet restaurant, taken on board and implemented that same day. I cannot praise the whole team enough they were so friendly and accommodating.
Lazing around the pool or along the beach drinks and snacks are bought to you by friendly and caring staff.
The rooms are spacious and clean, with a huge bed. Plug sockets are mixed and varied depending on which room, from uk style, european and multi type. UK travellers should take 1 euro adaptor, to be on the safe side.

My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon for 9 nights and were delighted overall.
The room was spacious and kept sparkling clean by Gaytree, our fabulous room attendant / cleaner.
The grounds are kept in lovely condition and the staff very attentive.
The beach really is beautiful, though, lots of sharp coral mean you have to be careful when walking in the sea as it’s very easy to cut your feet.
The hotel is very quiet so I would only recommend if you’re looking for a peaceful break. Most attractions on the island are in the west and on the south coast so be prepared to hire a car or rent a bike. We rented a 125cc from Daniel at the hotel, approx £50 for 3 days and we thoroughly enjoyed touring.
The food in the evening really is of good quality with lots of choice and great service.

What could be improved? It would be unfair to name her, but, our check in and out was handled by the same young lady and it was poor. The introduction was poor with just opening times to the restaurants fired at us and we were left to find things out for ourselves, she really was just going through the motions.
Check out was very disappointing. I was handed a bill, I paid, I was handed back my card. Not a single comment like ‘thanks for your stay’ or ‘have a safe journey’.

I told the hotel several times it was our honeymoon. I genuinely wasn’t looking for anything in particular, a passing comment of congratulations would’ve been nice, or a message on the chalk board in the room would’ve been a nice touch, but nothing.

Finally breakfast. There’s lots of choice and the food is good. However, although open until 10am, if you arrive after 9:30, many items were missing, there was regularly no milk or clean glasses. The most frustrating part is tables after 8:30 are never set. Sure, the waitresses will set a table, but to arrive to a restaurant with no clean tables set isn’t the best start to the day. While I can’t say the restaurant is dirty, I never once saw a table wiped and cleaned. Between settings, crumbs are simply brushed aside and clean cutlery laid.

These are all small details, but, could be so easily fixed. That said, we would stay again if in Mauritius and I would recommend it as, most of the time, the service is excellent, the food great and the beach location just stunning

Very nice medium sized friendly hotel. Nice location and set in beautifully maintained gardens. All the staff at the hotel are very friendly and offer very efficient service from the wonderful House keeping ladies who kept my room spotless and replenished toiletries, towels and pool towels regularly (Umma and Primula) they always asked if everything was good in my room day and evenings. Thank you.The ladies and guys at the Indigo bar were excellent offering and attentive and friendly service at the bar and the pool service. Lunch on the deck at Indigo was always a pleasure.
The food at the Buffet main restaurant was excellent, varied and a great choice of veg and non veg items , Mauritian, Indian and Continental flavours.
Two complaints.
1.All Inclusive ..... Not really All Inclusive ...... too many items of food, drinks and restaurants excluded from the package and a supplement added. Only the Buffet was fully inclusive all other places to eat carried a surcharge on most items. Too many drinks had many exclusions and surcharge added.
2.Although the staff at the Cinnamon Buffet restaurant did extremely well under the pressure the service some times suffered badly and lunch times the service was unbearable, so i had lunch at Indigo from the limited all inclusive choices.
Management need to review staffing levels and not just the profits.
Staff were extremely helpful and apologetic that they could not provide the service they wanted to offer but they are stretched beyond their capabilities to provide a good service.
Lack of sufficient staff at Cinnamon ruins the hotels high standards in every other area. Its the management responsibility to correct this fundamental part of customers enjoyment.
Get the Buffet staffing levels sorted and you have 5/5

Recently married, I booked a weeks stay at solana resort to celebrate my honeymoon.

My stay was nothing short of fantastic. The staff was extremely hospitable.

The water was lovely, although beach shoes are very important as there is a lot of coral in the water.

As a Muslim Indian, we were initially very concerned of the food, but fortunately there were 2 Muslim gents in the kitchen , “Naeem” and “Masood” who were very warm to us and assured us that the food was halal and there was no traces of contamination.

The inclusive water sports were done on time, and there were further water activities which had an additional fee.

Solana have outsourced their water sports to a company called the boathouse - a particular gent : Mr Arvish must be praised for his extremely friendly and helpful nature.

Furthermore in the hotel, a special thank you to a lady “Valerie” who came to our room and went out of her way to assist us in our needs.

A further thank you to the young lad Mr Vipul in the kitchen for his kind nature and always welcoming us with a smile and look of concern.

To Mr Visham in the reception who made an effort to learn my name on my arrival and to address me by my name everytime he seen me.

And lastly to Mrs Diksha in reception for her selfless service.

Thank you to Solana for your awesome experience.

A very affordable yet wonderful experience.

Great hotel. Swimming towels only changed once a day in the evening and this is not sufficient. Towels should be more freely available both at the beach and pool. If you use the towel at the beach - it is wet, if you then come to the pool the towel is still wet, yet there is no option other than to use the wet towel.

This adult-only hotel has very helpful and friendly staff who go out of their way to provide you with an excellent service. We checked in late on our first day and we asked if we could do a late checkout for a fee. Brittany was extremely helpful and arranged for a free late checkout. She also got us a last minute booking at the Pomelo restaurant which we highly recommend. The service and food was excellent and the Saturday night entertainment was nice. The beach is a bit rocky but you can still walk a few meters for nice swimming spots. Breakfast at the Cinnamone restaurant was enjoyable with sea view and included a wide variety of options including typical local cuisine. The superior room was comfortable with a breathtaking sunrise to wake you up.

Solana Beach Mauritius is a beautiful location and the staff could not be friendlier. The food was great and cocktails lovely. We stayed in a Prestige room on the ground floor which was a nice size room located near the boat house. But let down by the decor that was dated and a constant damp smell! A simple lick of paint around the room, especially the ceiling and better ventilation would easily sort it!

We spent 6 nights over Christmas. We booked into the Deluxe Room on the 1st floor. which was spacious and had great views of the beach. We did pay for all inclusive but for anyone who goes please be mindful that it's not fully all inclusive. The Cinnamon restaurant was All Inclusive. From a food perspective the 22nd and 23rd Dec main meal was a choice of 3 things and not a buffet which was disappointing as I wasn't keen on any of the options. There was a European theme one day and an Indian theme the next. The starter and desserts were buffets. They could have had a theme with the mains being a buffet. That is the only thing on food I would say was a negative. They also had tea time snacks and the best bit was the Chana Puri a local dish which they made fresh in front of you. I think there should have been more local dishes to try. The Xmas Eve gala food was amazing. Plenty choice of canapes, starters, main and desserts. The entertainment was great, lots of songs and the staff that entertained us, the 2 lovely ladies were fantastic, a great laugh and some of us got up to dance. For me from Xmas Eve onwards the food got better. There is a narrow sandy white beach. Clean but be mindful that parts of the shallow water are rocky so you couldn't simply go in and have a swim. You can walk along the beach a bit to get to clearer non rocky water. The staff are really friendly. They called a local clinic on our behalf so would could arrange our PCR test to return back to the UK. As I out flight was late evening, we asked for a late checkout numerous times but we're told they could only confirm the day before, which I was surprised about as the hotel was only 25% capacity even when we left. Additionally even though there were plenty of rooms available we were charged 2000 rupees for the late checkout. We didn't use any more facilities than if we checkout at a normal time, I think it was disappointing they couldn't offer it as a nice gesture when the hotel was nowhere near max capacity. We had several messages and they were amazing. They were quite expensive but still worth it.

The gardens are beautiful and well kept - 10 out of 10 for all the hard work to keep it looking so good.
The maintenance staff also keep the hotel and swimming pool well kept never saw any papers or rubbish laying around. Everything was neat and tidy - 10 out of 10

The reception staff need to know speak and understand English better, they need to know the hotel policy in what half board and full board is.

on a better note: I would like to thank all the staff that were involved in making my mom's surprise 80th Birthday so memorable.
From the singers at breakfast and supper, to the cleaning staff that decorated the bed and made her feel so special it was a day to remember. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Also, I would like to mention the lady frying the eggs in the morning and the friendly guy making the pancake in the morning, I give them 10 out of 10 for there friendliness and always willing to help.

Then the serving staff cleaning up after everyone. There were two ladies that really stood out with there happy faces everyday and always willing to help.

Sorry, I didn't take down name, but next time I will definitely mention them by name as they really stood out from the rest.

Arrived 21st and only yesterday (23rd) was dry, otherwise torrential rain and cyclone on its way. Sitting on the balcony and can’t hear myself think, let alone talk to my partner, due to corrugated metal roof over lovely large balcony with sea view. ☔️⛈. One couple still sitting on their loungers reading under thatched sun shade!! Apart from weather, very nice hotel, gardens, foods, staff all good. Reviews generally accurate except for poorly rated ones - can’t understand it. Beach shallow but long and water is shallow too for quite a long way out protected by a coral reef so is calm even in the heavy rain. Rainy/cyclone season this month so be prepared to avoid disappointment. Quiet hotel with not much around and about except one Chinese restaurant, one Indian restaurant and gift shop next door. Belle Mar worth a visit for the lovely public beach but nothing much more. Taxi to Centre de Flaq worth a visit if bored or to stock up with water, soft drinks, munchies if you are on half board and usual souvenir shops. AI only seems worth it if you can eat and drink that much having had a good breakfast. Upgrade from half board is 50 euros per person per day - that’s for drinks and lunch. Couple sitting on loungers gone in now.

Excursions are sold by the tour operators. If you travelled independently you could ask any of the reps to sell you one. Otherwise you can negotiate with one of the taxi drivers at the main gate. Typically they charge 800€ per day irrespective of the number of passengers. Try to share the taxi with another couple.

There are two which are pretty close. They are both part of the Constance Belle Mare Hotel. Open to outsiders. About 15 mins away by taxi. The Links is quite technical but not too difficult. The Legend is a harder test. Hire equipment is available on site and is of good quality.. Prices are reasonable and the Proshop well stocked. I bought several of their shirts - not cheap but good quality. Good idea to book a caddy. The guy I played with had a caddy so I got away without one.
