We stayed 4 nights in a lovely garden room with a nice, private courtyard. The room itself was beautifully decorated with a large bathroom/walk-in closet area. Everything in the hotel area is so stylish and tastefully done, truly like staying in a design magazine! The pool is massive with both cabanas and chairs and an amazing view of the tidal sea! Note you cannot walk on the beach due to the risk of saltwater crocodiles.
The staff helped us book tours and had a free shuttle to nearby attractions on fixed times. Breakfast is fantastic!! When we had a early departure on our last day, they made delicious breakfast boxes for us :-) A spa and overwater villas were under construction duing our stay.
We managed to book Grab drivers to the closest restaurants, as there are none within walking distance. However the hotel restaurant and bar is also very nice with outstanding cocktails!

📍Cove55

Amongst Kuching’s resorts and hotels, Cove55 is the new ‘classy kid’ in the block.

Nestled with the gorgeous backdrop of Mount Santubong, this seafront resort is truly a beauty to behold. Honeymooners and newly-weds love this place. Want to celebrate a grand occasion with a luxurious feel? Here’s the place to go to.

Despite it’s room priced at rm600+/night, Cove55 is nearly often fully-booked. The rooms are designed artfully, giving a spacious and contemporary vibe.

Facilities include a saltwater infinity pool facing the sea, a gym, and beautiful picturesque locations. I loved their ‘floating’ viewpoint, where beautifully designed windows could be opened at every aspect of that space.

Kechala, the in-house restaurant, is as classy as it can get. Breakfast there was perhaps the best hotel breakfast I’ve had in the entirety of Kuching. They served homemade yoghurts and muesli, with pastries baked perfectly. The pictures of the food speak for itself.

Cove55 may be pricey, no doubt. But for celebrations and a memorable occasion, this is the place to go.

Decided to bring our family for a weekend getaway at this property. We stayed 2 nights in one of the suites which overlooks the sea. The room was huge, super clean and always smells nice!! The suite we stayed in can easily fit 2 adults, 2 kids and 1 baby. We even had a baby cot in the room and still the room has plenty of space to walk around.

The food served at their restaurant were really, really good. We would come here again just for the food. The hotel only have 1 restaurant and menu is rather limited but enough to satisfy anyone's hunger. Very good selection for breakfast and we tried everything that was on the menu and they were all really good!!

The best part of this hotel is the staff. They were all really nice to us. Special mention to the duty manager Mr. Ringkai who made our stay a memorable one.

Good by Kuching Standards but room for improvement. Overall, I assume the hotel is trying to go for a “luxe” getaway vibe, but for the price you are paying, the room and service received is not quite at that level. If you’re looking for that kind of getaway, your money is better spent in langkawi etc. We stayed in the standard sea view room which was aesthetically nice, but you could tell right away that there was some wear and tear. I note that there are newer rooms with private pools but the price of these is upwards of RM2k a night (room only) but our all inclusive Rhodes holiday was the same price…. Obviously, with the lack of good hotel options in Kuching this is as good as it’s going to get, just note that the actual ‘value’ for money may not be there.

Pros: Pretty pool, no competition for sun beds/ loungers, aesthetic communal areas, decent service when available. Cheap drinks.

Cons: manpower lacking, very large guest to staff ratio. Pool bar is not always staffed, so we ended up having to walk to the main building to look for staff if we wanted to order food or drinks. No one is at the front desk from 10pm, the only person available was a security guard who only spoke Malay - this would be a problem for other foreign guests if there were any issues or in case of emergency. We had to complain about noise coming from several rooms down (noise insulation another issue), but no one was at the front desk when we called. Maintenance of the room is lacking, had hot water issues around 7-8pm where showers would be lukewarm/cold, the phone they provided in the room would run out of battery after 10 seconds. General wear and tear in the showers, nothing horrible but you’d expect better for the price paid. Food options are very limited (just one restaurant with a limited menu), which is a shame as it’s very difficult to get around the location for other food options if you don’t have a car.

If I could, I would give the hotel a 3.5/5 as 3 seems harsh. Definitely not a 4 yet. It’s these tiny details which differentiates the great hotels from the good/ok ones and COVE is just not right there yet. Especially in comparison to hotels/resorts who offer the same thing and for cheaper in South East Asia. That being said, the standard of hotels in Kuching in general is overall quite low, so if you are happy to fork out the money, COVE is one of the better options.

We have just this week added several key new staff to the team, now that the boarders are opening up and travelers are returning. Have heard about this place for years. Finally took the opportunity while back in Kuching on a long stay this time around to book the villa for a 1-night stay on a weekend.

I had a very calming and relaxing time on the resort. The weather was great, the place was very clean and tastefully done up, and the view was calming and beautiful. The music by the pool/seaside had a balanced fun yet relaxing vibe.

Plus: Great craft and classic cocktails for sunset and evenings. These good cocktails are rarities in town in Kuching, and it was nice to have them during the holiday. I thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. The staff were very helpful, respectful of privacy, and friendly when you do chat with them. We decided to skip Buntal for dinner and stayed on the resort instead; dinner was good western/fusion and worth staying in for. Much personal activity to do including yoga by the seaside and reading. The breakfast was included and very generous, and the coffee was good.

Items that would make this place even better than it already is: I can see how some may want more activities and perhaps even some spa services. Else, kayaking if provided could be fun as the bay is on the calmer side of Santubong. Would have loved to be able to work from the resort on a longer stay during the week if Internet connection is faster and more stable. Sand flies - bring bug spray.

I look forward to checking out the floating villas when they're available soon and to a longer stay.

Cove 55 is blessed with a great location and beautiful scenery. These however are to be expected in breathtaking Sarawak. Still Cove 55 manages to stand out because their spacious rooms and whitewashed buildings with pristinely kept grounds compliment their natural giftings, perfectly. To top it all off, staff are well trained and understand service.
Ideal for intimate couple holidays. May not be suitable for families.

A delightful location although in the middle of nowhere so don’t forget toiletries or sunscreen or hat etc because it will cost you 80 myr to be driven half an hour into Kuching!
The pool is beautiful but unless you grab one of 5 useable cabanas ( 2 others have no shade) then there is not an umbrella in sight and way to hot to be outside. There’s a small undercover bar area near the pool but not suitable to sit all day especially with children. Other than the restaurant tables there is literally NOWHERE to sit or lounge during the heat of the day. Very disappointing.
The food is excellent and plentiful and the evening cocktail very pleasant but unless you take tours every day there really is nothing to do without any shade around the pool or resort.
If you’re an older traveler ensure you ask for a ground floor room because the stairs are very steep.
This is a beautiful location but lots of work needs to be done to make it either family or couple friendly

Dear shellybellybuster, Thank you very much for your review following your recent stay with us. We are glad you enjoyed the beautiful setting of Cove 55 as well as the food at our Kechala restaurant. We are expecting a delivery of umbrellas (and sun lounger cushions) within the coming month to provide more shaded areas around the pool. Unfortunately, the delivery has been delayed which has left us with limited shade around the pool. However, apart from the terrace area at Kechala restaurant there is also the sunken lounge area that provides shade during the day, as well as the balconies, terraces and patios of all our rooms, suites and villas. There is a convenience store located in the Damai Beach area, and we do offer complimentary shuttle service to all our guests to and from Damai. Thank you again for your feedback and stay at Cove 55. With kind regards, Christoph

Had my wedding here recently and the team at Cove has been nothing but friendly and amazing. Organizing a wedding in the midst of a pandemic is definitely challenging but we actually pulled it through.

The place is clean, well taken care of, and it has the most beautiful scenery as it is located by the beach with Mount Santubong as its backdrop. Bear in mind that you will not have access to the beach but there is an infinity pool and gym available for the guests. The food there is amazing. Breakfast is included but bear in mind that if you are planning to have ala carte lunch or dinner, the price may be a bit on the higher end. But trust me, it is definitely worth it.

To the Cove team, if you are reading this, thank you so much for being a part of our big day. We are still over the moon that we manage to pull of our wedding at the most beautiful resort in Sarawak if not in Borneo. We can't wait for the overwater villas and mangrove villas to be completed. We will definitely come back!

Very beautiful resort with clean & comfortable rooms. The balcony has sofa & chairs for people to chill & enjoy the sea view. The white & blue theme reminded me of the Greek island of Santorini. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The swimming pool is open 24 hours & we enjoyed our night swim having the whole pool to ourselves. We also loved the gymn. It is very cool in the evening with the sea breeze. There are only 28 rooms in the resort. Even though it was fully booked, we still felt the sense of exclusivity with not many people around. This place is much better than the Damai Beach Resort nearby that is very run down and too crowded. Will definitely come back here.

I do not think the food at Cove65 is expensive. You will be served great food cooked with both expertis and imagination, very much worth the price. I am used to the pricelevel in Europe and Singapore and find Malaysia a lot cheaper to live and dine in. About the taxifare: I am afraid I don’t remember the price. But I wouldn’t go to Kuching for dinner. It takes to much time to travel in both directions. Also, Cove65 is such a wonderful place to stay at I can’t imagine why you should dine elsewhere!
