great room. strategically located. next to a shopping mall. we received a very warm welcome from the bellman named 'earl'. his service is top notch! surely an asset to the hotel. check in was okay. stayed for 4 days. the 2nd day, (morning) i approached the front desk. i was asking for help, need them to type and print 'drop your business card'. just a simple request, i was willing to pay. the receptionist seem to take it as a 'heavy duty task' for them. the FO manager maria or marina is extremely rude. she said she will charge rm1 with bad intonation. she let a huge sigh while typing the simple sentence. she was reluctant to help us. with a grumpy look, she gave me the piece of paper and i gave her rm1. i said thankyou, she didn't even look at me. didn't say anything, she maybe felt like we were just burdening them. she has a bad temper, scolding her staff right in front of guest. i dont know how the management let her manage the front office with that attitude. i suggest the management to send her to a psychiatrist and check her mental state. she seems too angry and emotional. not suitable in the hospitality business. habibah the HK is super nice!

Well maintained hotel though it is older compared with the newer ones at Kota Kinabalu. One advantage is that it is situated right next to the shopping area and close to some attractions in KK. Staffs were friendly. Check-in and check-out process were hassle free. However, I find that the breakfast was not so good. Not many variety or options. Hardly any options for vegetarians. I would stay again in this hotel, but not for its breakfast.

The hotel was good and the staff friendly. I do think, however, that thr breakfast menu could be improved. As a westerner, I did not really fine the selection suited me while it was fully enjoyed by my Asian ralatives.

Overall hotel needs some reburshing, toilets are mouldy. When u walked into the bedroom, it stinks from mold. Walk into the 4th floor buffet breakfast, it does not smell like breakfast, but mold from the air conditioning. I brought some air freshener that solved some of the smell in the room. Do bring ear plugs too if you are a light sleeper like me. Traffic noise is loud and people walking along corridor can also be heard very clearly. Worst thing is, the bed frames have mold on them. The pillow cases smell like that have not been changed for a long time. You cannot be lying side ways to sleep as the smelly cases can just keep u awake. Location is convenient and that's the only plus. The lobby looks pleasant and nice, but other areas are just worn down. It is a place for a simple stay if you don't mind the mold and smell.

No doubt, it is a strategic location: Next to Suria Sabah Mall, Gaya Street was some walks away, and also Jesselton Point. Many restaurants nearby. The room has the "old fashion room" odor. Nevertheless, the bed was comfortable and the shower heater works fine. Downside, is the parking. Parking are available but it is not under the hotel but it is under DBKK (Kota Kinabalu City Hall - Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu. Which means if you park at the allocated parking (with the colored numbers on it), you have to present the DBKK parking coupons on your car dashboard. *Parking Info Outside of the Hotel (With colored numbers) Monday to Friday - 8am to 5pm Saturday - 8am - 1pm Sunday & Public Holidays - Free *must present coupon parking on dashboard or else you'll be fine Green : RM0.55/hour Yellow: RM0.55/30mins parking are very limited. they provide a basement parking too but it is pricey RM15/night. All types of heavy odor fruits are prohibited.

I stayed for 4 nights in Sep19 and the experience was good. Positives: (1) good location, walking distance from the seaside, eating/drinking places and shopping, (2) friendly staff who were keen to serve, (3) the whole hotel is smoke-free, (4) wifi works well throughout the whole hotel, (5) hot water for bath was quick and hot, (6) the lifts came quickly, (7) bed and bathroom were clean Negatives: (1) while the beds and room was clean, there were much dust in the cupboard where the power switchboard was, (2) the TV was old and the picture quality is poor, (3) the room looks tired and could do with a refresh, (4) the food at the cafeteria is edible but can be vastly improved - the coffee was fairly tasteless. Overall: recommended for stay as the price and location makes it attractive.

Had been stayed for 2 nights. Although I'm a frequent traveller, and my couple was a Guess Service Assistant at the local hotel, but we never experienced: 1. Parking fare RM15 per night for hotel guess. We had been charged for RM30 (for 2 nights) even we are a hotel guess. And according to Duty Manager on duty that Checked In us on 06 August 2019. Then after had been asked for this, SHE started to make a comparison with other hotel (Cititel Express) which is I am regular guess over the mentioned hotel too. But what she explained is totally a lie. Even parking are paid, but it still based on first come first serve. 2. The Hotel rule quite unfriendly and sounds rude to hotel guess. Hotel guess had been warned for not to break rules; i.e: - No durians, or else fine RM500. - No smoking inside room, or else fine RM500. - Not to waste breakfast, or else fine RM50. The management should improve their courtesy in order to make them better or else hotel guess will never come back again and became "the 1st and last" visit.
