I would definitely forward your luggage from where you stay previously as suggested as local trams, trains and ropeway were packed! It can be done from most hotels, but do it the day before rather than the morning you want... More

You are expected to be completely naked to enter the onsen, for hygiene purpose (u gotta bathe and clean yourself first!)
