Very good value for money - the hotel is well connected to the train station and our triple room was surprisingly big by Japan standards. Even with the additional bed and two large suitcases open, there was enough space for three adults to walk around. Given the age of the hotel, we were expecting old, soft mattresses, but to our surprise the mattresses were firm and we had a good night's sleep. The service was also stellar and one staff went out of his way to help us with the delivery of our suitcases to our next hotel.

Granted, we were there for one night only so price and location were the key deciding factors. As other reviewers have mentioned, it is an old hotel and the decor is dated. If those things bother you, I would not recommend choosing this hotel for a long stay.

The omelette they made in front of me for breakfast was the best.
Because of the season, we have a BBQ beer garden downstairs and when you check in, the lights are on late at night, so close the curtains if you are concerned. I was more concerned about the smoke and smell of grilled meat than the light. I chose a non-smoking room and booked this hotel, so that was a bit disappointing.

Since the tour meeting time was early, at 6:30am at the Kintetsu train ticket gate, I decided to stay the night before. Therefore, I decided to stay at this hotel, which is close to the Kintetsu station.
The hotel entrance is near the Nana-chan doll, so it is very convenient. From the hotel rooms, you can see the JR Shinkansen, Tokaido Main Line, and Meitetsu tracks directly below, so it is a perfect hotel for train fans.

The first room I was shown to had the previous guest's hair tie and receipt, a mess of memo paper, short animal-like hair on the bed...the trash can was on the desk, some of the towels weren't folded, and part of the information pamphlet. The room was upside down...I was in a mess, so I told the front desk and was directed to a room three floors below my original room. The room there seemed to have been cleaned, but the ventilation fan in the bathroom was so dusty that I hesitated to use it, so I ended up staying without a shower. Because of this, elementary school children rinse the provided cups before using them... The other rooms seemed to be empty, but I could hear the neighbors chatting all over the place, which bothered me a lot (the person on my right was Japanese, and the voice on the left was shouting in what foreign language?), so I couldn't sleep well...so I could hear someone walking in the hallway. You can hear things like doors closing, trains, etc. ...I think it's a convenient hotel near the station if you can stand the dirty and noisy stuff, but I'm sorry, but my family doesn't like using it. I was disappointed because the homepage and at first glance looked beautiful. so sad…. I was tired so I wanted to sleep well...

Nothing can beat the location of Meitetsu Grand. The hotel is connected to the subway shopping avenue via a lift, which makes it super convenient to travel by train, shop and dine. There's also plenty of food choices nearby. Staff are very hospitable, overall i had an amazing stay.

Located at the Nagoya train station complex with easy accessibility to shops and underground. If you are carrying heavy luggages, it may be easier to use the ground level as they may be steps in the basement. The top floor restaurant has a beautiful view of the city. However, rooms are smaller (at the expense of nice location). They may be old but clean. Pillows were good and firm, possibly contains buckwheat.

Upon check in at the front desk, the hotel clerk refused to check me in. When I got to his area, he got on the phone and stayed on the phone until a Japanese man came to get checked in. He motioned for me to move out of the way and asked the Japanese man to move up to the desk. The other clerks witnessed this and did nothing, said nothing. I will ask my travel agency to not send anyone there ever again. I have issued an official letter of complaint to the hotel manager and informed my management at my job here in the US and in Japan.

I stayed at this hotel after visiting Takayama and Shin Hotaka. The hotel is just in the same building with Meitetsu Department Store. The hotel elevator can take you to different floors of the department store. It is next to the Nagoya train station. Just walk out of Takashimaya Department Store and walk to the right. It takes less than 5 minutes. The location is really good and convenient to take Meitetsu train to the suburb and the airport.
The twin room was much bigger than the one I stayed in Meitetsu New Grand earlier in my trip. It was very nice. There was even an area outside the washroom for makeup and blow-drying hair. The elevator took me to the supermarket floor where I bought some fruit to bring to the room to enjoy. The wifi in the room is fast for us to contact home on facetime. It is a very good choice in Nagoya city.

Had stayed here earlier, but this time was upgraded to a twin deluxe room. This room had a good view of Nagoya main street and the conical building across. The room was large and spacious. Slept very well as the sound proofing was very good. Internet connection is available and free.
