This is not a luxury hotel but a quite away from it all abode. The bandas have all that is necessary for a short stay or overnight stays. The restaurant will provide all meals but you need to preorder at the present time. Staff are friendly and helpful. Plenty of nature about both of the flying variety and the four legged variety. Wi Fi is available near the office which keeps you in touch.
Disappointing experience. The glamour of Banana village has left the bandas long ago. Friendly Ugandan staff at first site, next morning all smiles were gone. This Eco Cultural place has many Ugandan art staues wearing the same grassy algué aging as all cottages and the complete surroundings. Swimmingpool extremely dirty - 3 chairserprized without cushions, still carrying worn towels from earlier guests. Most disappointing is that the unknown visitor (mzungu) pays 270 - 280k for a night via Agoda or Booking, at an even overprized local price of 130k.
Jemima and team at Banana Village strive to make your stay the best experience you can have. They pay great attention to detail, cleanliness, and hospitality. The staff are warm and welcoming. The food is excellent- try the fish-n-chips. A nice complimentary breakfast awaits you at the time you desire. The guesthouse is in a quiet, beautiful spot in town with monkeys and birds greeting you everyday. From a private retreat to a large group with meeting and accommodation needs, Banana Village is the place to go! I highly recommend it!
The staff always remembers our names and our fav rooms, sets the table to accommodate our wheelchair, and everyone is relaxed and friendly to our kids. Rustic, clean, peaceful, ample green space to read/play/relax, simple clean pool. Watch the monkeys play at dawn and dusk from your mini veranda or dining hall. Take a warm shower. Wheelchair is able to move around the grounds well (with assist up a few bumpy slopes). We try to go every year!
My Rotary International service group has used Banana Village three times, 2017-2019, with trainers and trainees numbering 40 people. The venue is highly conducive to group bonding, lectures, and hands-on activities. A free-standing training hall seats 30+ with table seating. Flip charts, LCD projector, and PA system are available. Multiple options for small-group breakout work sessions. Meals were tasty and wholesome. Tea/coffee breaks were timely. Opportunities for walks around the nature-campus or in the friendly neighboring villages. Use of the very nice swimming pool that has an adjacent bar serving adult beverages, cold drinks, and snacks. Topping off the features are the friendly, responsive staff, and the pricing value which easily beats its competition in Uganda. And…the Vervet monkeys do not expect gratuities for their entertainment. …
We've now been twice because we love the place and the caring people who run it and provide meals etc. (We're older Australians who live and work in NW Uganda). Highlights include: swimming pool, birds and monkeys. Of the latter there's a family of about 15 who come and go and we enjoy their antics. Our Xmas19-New year visit in Room 18 was special because they happened to love the hedge and trees beside us and were often frolicking just 2-3 metres away as we sat on the verandah. We jogged for exercise around the small field surrounded by tall trees within the boundary. The food was great and the waiters smiling and helpful. There's a particularly appealing vine with strings of white flowers hanging down from a jackfuit tree near the dining hall. We felt so relaxed, seated watching it and the occasional monkey through the windows, while dining. We find it helpful carrying an extension cord with light bulb for reading in bed (Rhys & Rhondda)…
I spent a very nice couple of days here, with wonderful staff and a lovely peaceful setting, it was the perfect place to relax. Very nice food, swimming pool and comfortable accomodation. Thank you for a great stay!
This was my fourth stay here I use it as a stopover before flying out of Uganda. The rooms are tidy and basic, one luxury for Uganda is a running hot shower. Meals are good and varied with a standard English Breakfast. The grounds are spacious with Monkeys in attendance. Parking is available and the staff are helpful and friendly
Wish I could rate this place 6 stars. The staff was SO friendly & the rooms were quaint and quirky! We fell in love with this place and would recommend to all. Felt like home by the time we left!!!!!!
Friends and I stayed here twice during our vacation since it is close to the airport and safe! Banana village isn’t fancy but it’s perfect and inexpensive for a few nights. It has a pool and food on site. It is also walking distance to a wonderful and friendly village that we enjoyed walking through and exploring.
