People do seem to have some strange expectations though (bearing in mind the star rating and price) - for example, we saw one guy walking up and down the rows of food saying "I don't like any of this" when there were (and I checked!!) 12 hot dishes, 4 types of salad, plus separate salad items such as olives and whatnot, cheese, cold meat, fruit, breads, soup, pizza, somebody making pasta to order, chips AND a large selection of desserts!!! You really would have to be phenomenally fussy not to find something. Speaking of the desserts, they were properly lovely :-)
I noticed a couple of reviews saying that the waiters didn't speak good enough English, to which I can only point out that Tunisia is, like, foreign, and their languages are French and Arabic.... ;-) Having said that, we had no problem, and we found the staff lovely - from the cleaning ladies, to the waiting and bar staff, and a special mention for the Animation Team. Good grief, those guys work hard! They seem to be going from about 10am to well after midnight. They're great at getting people doing poolside games and activities and they're really lovely with kids - we had my 4 year old with us, and he really enjoyed their mini disco!
The beach seems to be a work in progress - the part that has the parasols and sun loungers is beautiful - clean sand, plenty of ceramic pots to use as bins, the lads on the beach are always raking the seaweed to keep the sand pristine; the bit behind that is in the process of being cleaned up to use for beach volleyball, etc. Ah, we loved that beach - golden sand, warm sea, lovely. The pool scene wasn't really for us, although the people using it seemed happy enough - lots of music and activities, and the kiddie pool with the little slides was a hit with my little one! There are always loads of life-guards about, especially when they have the big slides open. There's also security on the beach, which is reassuring.
Sooo, to the areas for improvement - it's apparent that there are a few opening "teething problems" which mainly centre around not having quite the right number of staff in the right place at the right time - although I must stress that the staff are great - helpful, friendly and accommodating. I was also a bit disappointed that the indoor pool and gym are not yet up and running (yes, I really did take my exercise kit on holiday....!!) but work seems to be coming on apace so I expect all that will be fine soon.
We went on one excursion, sold to us by the guy at the hotel - you can haggle a bit on price, and if you tell him you're not interested he won't hassle you. We found the trip (pirate ship) good value and a fun trip. I've been to Tunisia before and visited Sous and Tunis then, and would recommend them for trips if you fancy it.
All in all, I think this is a great value hotel - nice food, friendly staff, it has a shop, a little night club, lovely pools and beach and had a cross-section of visitors from young families, to couples, to older groups. I would definitely go again given the opportunity and am happy to answer any questions if you're thinking of going :-)
There are one or two improvements to be made but this hotel has been apparently closed for 2 years and they are doing a great job, even if they do seem to be a couple of weeks behind schedule.
We had a great holiday, I was never hungry or thirsty, the room was basic but adequate and the sun was shining all for £250 per person. And that is the main point of my review.
The thing the spoilt it for me was the constant moaners. There were groups of people sitting around, whipping each other up into a frenzy of more moaning.
VFM. £250 per person. Take the cost of the flight off (£170), leaves £80. Take transfer cost off (say £10), leaves £70. That equates to £10 per day for 3 meals, a room, all the drink you can throw down your greedy neck (day and night) and the sun, pool and water slides. What exactly do people want for a tenner a day??
It was interesting to see that none of the moaners joined in with anything around the pool but they were quite happy to be slurping their umpteenth beer of the day when looking for things to slag off.
The choice of food was fine. There were many native dishes as well as more European dishes. But you can't legislate for some people's unrealistic expectations.
One woman was fuming, "The chip machine's broken". I didn't go to North Africa to eat chips.
In a nutshell, some people want to pay 2-star prices, but expect 5-star holidays. It doesn't work like that. Wake up. We had a great time, food, service and facilities represented great value for money.
Thank you guys.
Hotel staff is nice and helpful - receptionists could speak a bit better English but we managed everything.
AnImation team is truly amazing they go above and beyond to entertain the guests during the day and after dinner as well. Aqua gym, water polo, gym, foam party, darts, games you name it they do it. Honestly they were the ones making our holiday exceptional… thank you guys again!!

Even after all of that we had to switch rooms as we has no bedroom lights and the toilet wouldn't work in both of our rooms that we had booked. There was also many pool accidents with people sinking and young children losing their parents. They also lie about how the hotel looks in real life its too different to explain from what it looks like on the website. The other thing was the trips get offered at the stay are not that good the camel one Don not try but the other two were alright. The location was not that good but there were a few places you could eat out and a few shops. The shop in the hotel was to expensive and you could everything cheaper with better quality and the shop next to the hotel. It is a 10-20 minute walk if you want to do some water activites.will say the only good thing was the the entertainment team. But even if you could get this free I would not take it.It should be taken off every website that you can book on.
It was very dangerous with live electrics hanging out the walls, indoor pool area left open so children could have easily fallen in the pool which was empty , People fighting for plates at breakfast, lunch and dinner like a bunch of animals.
Even staff said that it is embarrassing.
Was told the week before there was a separate area for Europeans but no such luck.
Wi-Fi not working.
The photos on booking com and on the beach show two infinity pools that are no longer there.
Couldn’t have a bath as it had no plug
Beach was covered in rubbish and seaweed that wouldn’t have taken more that an hour in the morning to sort out but wasn’t cleaned in the time I was there.
Staff are amazing though
Probably the only saving grace for us.
Even they questioned what we thought of the hotel.
A number told me they wouldn’t be back there next year.
I definitely will not be going back
