Steigenberger Marhaba Thalasso garners high marks for its cleanliness and spacious rooms, with the majority of guests enjoying a spotless environment and meticulous upkeep. The vibrant atmosphere, complete with entertainment, is a hit, although there are occasional remarks about overbearing music. The beachfront location wins over guests with its breathtaking views, despite some facilities needing a touch-up.
Amenities like diverse pools and dining options receive applause, but not without a few noise-related gripes. Service is generally commendable for its friendliness and efficiency, despite rare lapses. While the hotel's value is recognized, unexpected costs have been a concern for some guests.

Detailed Reviews
Me and my boyfriend stayed here for 10 nights in June and we are already looking to book again for next year. It was my second time staying at this resort and I didn’t think the first time could be topped but wow. You are treated like absolute royalty from the moment you walk in, to the sad time when you have to leave. The hotel and grounds are absolutely beautiful and definitely well kept by the gardeners and maintenance staff, who are so lovely and always make sure to give you a smile and say hello.
We paid for a sea view room and the view was phenomenal, this just topped it all of so i would say it is definitely worth the extra money. The fridge in the room was always fully stocked with complimentary refreshments such as water and fanta etc. The bed was massive and the pillows were to die for so a good nights sleep was had every night. Both the main room and the bathroom was kept very clean and tidy with the towels and bedding changed daily.
The hotel has 2 outdoor pools and it’s own beach. One pool being the bigger, main pool and the other being more of an activity pool where activities such as water pool and aqua zumba were held. We spent everyday at the main pool for no reason other than we wanted to just chill out and we don’t like sand so the beach was a no go for us, not for a full day anyway. The lifeguards around the main pool always made sure we had an umbrella and we were very friendly. Quite a few members of staff made our holiday really special but 2 people who stood out the most was Houssem and Jamel at the pool bar. We can’t thank these two enough for making us laugh and smile every minute we were there, so a big thankyou to them and we are hoping they will be there next year :)
Food at this hotel was delicious but did get a little bit repetitive after a while but we expected that with it being an all inclusive so no issue other than that. The waiters in the main restaurant are some of the nicest people and made the hour spent in there everyday very special with either flowers on the table or oit drinks already waiting for us.
The entertainment is run by the amazing animnation team who were so lovely and accommodating. We aren’t really activity people through the day so after the first day or two o think they realised that and didn’t pester you once after that but definitely were not ignored because of this. They would still come up and ask how your day was going and on a night would come and play card games with us and just have a laugh in general. All in all very lovely people and the entertainment was good other than it being inside most nights when we would of rather of been sat outside. The waiters in the evening are also really friendly and can not do enough for you which we really liked.
I do think the hotel would benefit from having another shop or 2 and having its own chemist/pharmacy as there was a few things we needed throughout the holiday but we couldn’t get from the shop that is in there.
Overall i would 100% recommend this hotel to anyone that’s wanting a relaxing holiday in the sun. We will be back :)

My wife and I stayed for one week from 7th may
Reception / check in 5/5
check in was swift, we were met by a manager who sat us down ,got us some drinks as we filled in an arrival form. Our room was not ready as it was late morning but were given our wristbands so we could get drinks and something to eat. When we needed advice or assistance they were always very helpful
Room 4/5
Room was a great size with a large flat screen TV but this was not in front of the bed so you had to watch it from a chair. The toilet was separate from the bath and shower but was too small as you struggled to shut the door. However the rest of the room was lovely, comfortable beds, plenty of storage for clothes, and a free safe. The room was cleaned every day to a high standard.Tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar with water and soft drinks, which were replaced daily. TV had a few English channels (NBC action,NBC 2 and NBC max)all film channels, plus a few news channels, and a sports channel that showed premier league games(if you ask reception they can change the commentary to English
Restaurant 4/5
There was always a good selection of hot and cold food.
Breakfast
Everything you can think of eggs cooked to your liking ,bacon, sausages, french toast, doughnuts(great with cinnamon sugar)pastries, fresh rolls/bread,fruit juice, plus cold meats, cheeses and the list goes on
Lunch/Dinner
Again a great selection, several options of hot and cold food Pizza and pasta freshly cooked,a selection of meats/fish freshly cooked.Salads with cold meat and fish options .A good selection of deserts cakes, ice cream and fresh fruit
The drinks were excellent, bottles of soft drinks, beer, wine and water(no flat coke etc)
Service was the best, the waiters get to know you have your drinks for you in an ice bucket. However by the end of the week the food had got a bit repetitive
Pool/Beach 5/5
Two lovely pools one with a swim up bar.Sun beds had cushions and you could get pool/beach towels from a hut and change them when they get wet/sandy(free).The beach was clean and roped of with security who stopped you being pestered by people selling tat.The beach had its own bar so you don't have to go back to the pool bar(however this only opened the day before we left)
Overall a very good hotel, would I return? YES
I did tip the waiters and bar staff, only small amounts (10 dinar less than £3) this goes a long way to a good holiday
We did go to the town one day(never again)it was dirty ,pavements were very uneven and broken, and you were pestered to go into shops. My advice would be to stay in the hotel.

Steigenberger is an excellent escape for a week if you like clean and very warm sea and sandy beach. 2 outdoor pools are also warm, indoor pool is closed. Huge amount of beach chairs to choose, Due to corona there are not so many guests at the moment but the animation team did their best to keep all activities during the day going. Our family enjoyed water aerobics, darts, petanque and of course volleyball (sometimes difficult to find enough people for teams). Thanks Mehdi, Nina and all others for taking good care of all guests!
Our room in the main building was very spacios and clean. Nice view on the pools and sea. I had a problem with a hard matrress and the manager from the reception changed it for a softer one. Thanks for solving the problem so quickly!
The buffet table had big variety of food and the guest show what they would like to have, the waiter put it on your plate. All staff wear the masks. So the virus hygiene is well controlled.
If you want to gp out of the hotel then Yasmine Hammamet is very quiet now due to the virus. But I recommend to go and see beautiful Hammamet Medina. For dining there is an excellent seafood restaurant Le Barberousse.
I can recommend this hotel warmly! Thanks for a lovely stay!

Have you read the other reviews and thought they seem too good to be true? Well, that’s because guests are encouraged and assisted / bullied into writing their review before they leave! They are told to write wonderful things about the hotel and certain staff members… well, get ready for an honest review….
Firstly you get to your room, this is quite nice but don’t expect the drinks in your fridge to be topped up every day and you will only get towel art if you’ve tipped, if you haven’t paid the cleaner you will get nothing. What’s more. the cleaner will also help themselves to your stuff. Coffee, shampoo, shower gel, perfume… all these things will go missing during your stay, some guests even resorted to keeping their toiletries in the safe.
So, you leave your room and you want to go for a swim, well don’t expect to go in the outside pool, it’s closed and out of action. Oh well, there’s always the salt water pool which is nice when it’s been cleaned and isn’t green or you could chance it in the indoor pool as long as you avoid the mouldy sun loungers. Also we were not told that the pool bars, beach bar, pizza bar and additional restaurants would all be closed at this time of year. It means that waiters have to walk round and back and forth to the lobby bar to serve drinks.
So, you’ve given up on your swim, maybe you will join in with the activities and if you don’t want to join in you can entertain yourself by trying to figure out who is sleeping with who or you could listen to the stories from some of the louder guests who really make you feel proud to be English!
After all that excitement it’s time to eat, as long as you like liver you’ll be fine, if you are vegetarian forget it. A couple of times it was lamb, this turned out to be a few bones floating in liquid. The food is repetitive, boring and nowhere near 5 star quality, and be careful as some of the meat is undercooked/ raw.
In summary, this hotel is very overrated and our stay was disappointing, some of the staff are lovely and do try hard to help you enjoy your holiday but this is overshadowed by the poor facilities and food which lead to an overall bad experience.

Dear Guest, Thank you for choosing our hotel. We are sincerely sorry that we couldn’t meet your expectations and you stayed unsatisfied with your holiday. We took good note of your comments although tipping is a tradition in Tunisia and our staff strives to deliver an excellent service regardless of being tipped or not, we would have loved to be informed immediately onsite about all of your remarks as we would have been able to intervene as now that your holiday is over there is unfortunately very little we can do to make your stay an enjoyable one, which ultimately is the goal of our hotel. However, we insure that all your comments have been delivered to the hotel management and an action will be taken. We do hope to have a chance to see you one more time in our hotel, and can assure to do everything to create a wonderful holiday for you on your next trip. Best regards,

Avoid this hotel at all costs,Party of 9 and every single one of us have had horrific upset stomach’s,the chicken was raw on 2 occasions and we’ve all had a horrible experience, spending most of our holiday visiting the chemist and constant D and V and stuck in our rooms. This is no holiday tummy we’ve all been so sick for the whole duration of our holiday.Don’t even bother complaining because it will fall on deaf ears and they will deny any knowledge about anything!! Saw one restaurant staff stir a dish, taste food then put spoon back in and carried on stirring 🤢.The water gets turned off without guests been informed.Missing fridge covers at beach restaurant so all fruit covered in flies.Reported broken lights in room at beginning of holiday, still not fixed ,fridge is filthy !and u get dressing gowns and slippers if they can be bothered .Don’t expect a sun bed either on the beach or pools unless you’re willing to get up at sunrise.Don’t expect a cuppa either as they don’t provide milk and it’s not sold in shop. The maids try their best but bungalows are very dated and don’t get cleaned properly.Restaurants are absolutely mental 700 guests it’s a rat race .Don’t expect to keep your room on they will say they will accommodate this then tell you no because of other bookings, expect to be parcelled off to a shower block of 2 showers with no doors on !! I can’t wait to fly home on Monday as this has been the worst experience of our lives.5* more like 2* ps please think before booking this hotel STAY CLEAR!!!

We visited the hotel in August with family, the 3 of us. We arrived late night, after 13 hours of travelling, so we wanted nothing else but taking a shower and going to bed. We booked a 3 bed room and we stood 3 of us in front of Reception. We got a beautiful, big room... with 2 beds. I asked Front Office, they offered to make the sofa for the 3rd person. I didn't want anyone sleeping on a sofa for 7 nights when we paid for a 3 bed room and on the website there were pictures with 3 beds. We were quickly assisted by Valet and an extra bed was brought in and made. Apart from this initial hickup, everything else was great and enjoyable. Various food options, basic, but tasty options. We liked them, escpecially the fact that every dinner there was a Tunisian special. The walk to the beach was 2 minutes and the fine sandy beach was never crowded. The water was beautiful and clear. The room was cleaned every day.
A few staff with outstanding customer service: Waiter Zied, Chef Olja, Restaurant Manager Jamila, and Housekeeper Sandos. Thank you for looking after us.

Lovely hotel with few hitches. Room was lovely with a fabulous view and very clean. Attentive waiter service in restaurants and very friendly. Entertainment team very good very friendly and helpful especially Mamadou ( lovely guy). Lovely beach and great pools.
Reception staff are useless and unhelpful I went to them three times and asked questions and got zero help I ended up asking the entertainment staff for help instead. I asked about booking the feature restaurants and I was waved away and told to go ask someone over there, there wasn’t anyone over there ! We’d travelled over night because our flight was 6am from Manchester arrived in tunisia at 9am got to hotel for 11:30/12 to be told our rooms weren’t ready and won’t be ready till 2pm ! So had to sit around foyer not good when your exhausted! On the last day we weren’t travelling till later in day so asked about a shower room or something but there’s nothing so make use of your room till midday check out.
Food is not great it’s over cooked and dry and we ended up with stomach problems so take something to help with that.
The Germans were at it again with the towels on sunbeds so you either get up early 6am or tip the beach towel guys to help you. Not enough umbrellas to bed ratio but again get help from beach towel guys they will sort it for you. They need to put a policy in for this because it’s ridiculous with the Germans falling over themselves to get the good beds and they are so rude.
The evening entertainment was put inside at night which would of benefited outside better because not as many people went inside to see it. They do it outside on weekends so why not all the time ?
If your looking for relaxing then this is it. There’s no shops outside the hotel so make sure you take everything you need ie shampoos. The hotel would of benefited with a shop that you could buy snacks and toiletries. The shop that is there only does clothes and basic sun cream it’s useless really.
We’ve enjoyed having the time off but the hotel needs to sort out the minor problems I’ve listed because this is what makes it disappointing.

Dear Mrs Caroline, Thank you for taking the time to share your review about your recent stay with us. First of all we are glad you appreciated our attentive staff as well as our beautiful rooms. We are sorry for the inconveniences, normally the right time of the check-in is at 2PM and we can only assign rooms before the mentioned time if we have the availability. We hope you are already feeling better ! Now regarding your condition, we totally empathize with you but we have to mention that we didn't receive any similar complaints from other guests during the same period and we believe that it might be about a viral infection. We apologize for the missing sun beds. We firmly disagree to this manner of reserving them early in the morning but during the high season this practice goes beyond regular. Again, we would like to apologize for failing to exceed your expectations in regards to some aspects of your stay. We have taken note of your comments and have shared these with our management team to review and take the necessary actions to ensure similar situation can be avoided in the future. Best regards,

A little out of the way but only a £3 taxi to hammamet town or Jasmine hammamet. A grown up hotel with 2 outside and an inside pool, plus the spa for a few extra dinars.with treatments and saltwater pool etc. beach nice but sellers do bother guests. Grounds and gardens immaculate. Animation team always lively and friendly.
We found no back ground music around pool areas, that added to the relaxed ambience of the place.
Food in the main dinning area always lots of choice at breakfast, lunch and evening meal, with very good service, from all the staff Food a bit too good for the waistline.
Drinks service was second to none, the bar staff and waiters were always going round replenishing cups and glasses.( perhaps around pool area, plastic may be safer) overall met a good mix of people; French Belgium, German. Tunisian as well as the British home nations. Would recommend this hotel.

First proper holiday since before pandemic. Me and my partner in need of a complete switch off.
This hotel and the amazingly friendly staff did this for us. End of April for two weeks, a couple of days overcast, a day of rain and the rest bright blue skies and sun sun sun.
Before the start of the season so not everything open at the hotel with the swim up bar and beach bar both opened during our stay. Beach restaurant and beach BBQ are still to open.
Lots of renovations and improvements being completed, good to see the management investing in the property.
Facilities we used were indoor pool and jacuzzi pool, both great and easy to use, there is a Spa and indoor seawater pool also but we did not use these.
We found the staff amazingly friendly from Mr. Farooq at reception on our arrival, through to the waiters Lofti and Adel-aziz, Jamila in the restaurant always with a smile.
The food was presented well with a good selection daily, I especially liked the sushi offering and the "brick", along with Ouja eggs for breakfast. The help yourself buffet is well laid out and the pastry chef is exceptional! The food could have been a little hotter at times but I found you could always have something freshly made for you.
We tried the themed Italian restaurant, and although not up to a la carte standard it was a nice change from the buffet style over the two week stay.
We've since read that the hotel is not suitable for disabled guests, with my partner suffering from mobility issues I can say this is not the case and in fact the staff are always on hand and happy to help.
There is a choice of ramps for access at the entry into the hotel, the reception, spa, indoor pools, lobby bar and restaurants are all on one level with multiple lifts to the three upper rooms.
There is a layered seating area in the large lobby and atrium with ramps to the levels with a large patio outer area with a further small ramp to the garden level. From there you can easily access the outside pools with sloped access, the grounds and gardens, the bungalow accommodation outside and further to the beach bar and the beach itself being about a 5 minute slow walk from the hotel lobby through the grounds. The only challenge i found was the swim up bar with steps down to sit at the bar not in the water, the bar staff always on hand to bring drinks around the pool.
In summary, a relaxing pool side/beach side holiday with great weather, friendly staff and people and a great location for visiting Hammamet. Great value for what we paid with TUI in April.

First the negatives, the wifi was a bit slow, and one day they forgot to refill my minibar. Otherwise...well, I was in a bungalow, large, clean, great location, wonderful large soft bed the food was amazing, salads, fresh pasta and pizza, a choice of Tunisian dishes, fresh fish, great vegetables, European grilled meat and casseroles some things repeated, but also changes, and the desserts, I find often this is where all inclusives are weak, but the desserts were brilliant. And fresh squeezed fruit juice at breakfast. I also found the staff universally friendly and efficient, I got the feeling that they genuinely cared about making my stay special. I also used the spa, had to pay, but it was very reasonable and definitely better than others I've used, in Tunisia and Turkey. The animation team were good, especially during the day, actually wanted to talk with guests, the evening entertainment was fine for me, I'm not particularly into big shows, but I guess if that's your thing you might find it a bit weak, mainly karaoke, and solo musicians. The bar staff also were very good, happy to bring your drinks to you, wherever you were. So, like I said, apart from slightly weak wifi, I found the Steigenburger pretty well perfect, and a good location, right on the beach, the hard part was leaving after two weeks
