I brought my family there for Easter. It was off season which meant the restaurant wasn't open. That was a small price to pay for having the entire wing of rooms inside the pool area. We rented three rooms that all connected and each room had a different style hot tub in it. It was so perfect. The first night the fire alarm went off and the actual owner of the resort was there. She was so pleasant and nice. She actually asked our opinion and it felt like she was listening. After leaving we left a piece of mail in the room. They contacted us a few times and we didn't answer. They were such caring individuals and knew it was from the school so they didn't give up. Once contacted, they sent the mail to my address for me in a new envelope. That doesn't happen just anywhere. Most places would have just tossed it. I will stay here again and again. The owner is a local and they will get my business every time!! I will be back soon.

We stayed overnight with a fantastic view of Boldt Castle, it was great to watch the ships too! Our room was nice, clean, heat worked great, new flooring, bathroom needs remodeling, bed was comfy. We walked around the resort and it was very nice! Unfortunately, everything was closed. Check in and check out were perfect. We're definitely staying again!

This is a truly terrible hotel! There are much, much better places to stay in Alex Bay. The service is terrible. The desk staff that I dealt with were dishonest, truculent and smug. Not a great way to be greeted after an exhausting day. The room I stayed in looked like the Section 8 tenements I often inspect. Decaying, in poor repair, with outdated furnishings. Arrived to find out that the reservation I made three days prior was not in their records. Explained to the front desk employee that I made it on the phone with a man a few days ago. She insisted that I must have called a travel agency because there were no men working at the front desk. After a few minutes of condescending me she remembered that the manager, Mike, was male and could have taken my call. Moving on, I got a room. Asked for and received a cot but was not told there was a $25 fee for it. At check out, I was presented with a bill for $150 and it was explained that the extra person, the cot and taxes brought the total from the quoted $89 to $150. I asked why none of this was explained when I made the reservation or checked in and was flatly told that it "must have been". Negotiated a $20 refund since my CC had already been charged. Called the manager, Mike, a few days later to discuss and he seemed receptive but no further refunds were received. Be sure to ask questions when making a reservation and get it in writing if possible! Don't count on the staff to be organized, informed or honest. I won't stay here again and I'll be sure to let all my colleagues and friends know since we travel to A-Bay a lot. Captain Thomson's is a much nicer hotel and I've never had a problem there.

NO NO NO - do NOT book this MOTEL*** if I could give a zero I would. My fiancé tried to surprise me with an overnight stay (since we never been here) and as soon as I read the reviews I wanted to book somewhere else (no offense to him) - forget about the fact they failed to let guests know that almost everything is closed for the season...but they charge $203 for this room and this MOTEL isn’t worth even $50. We couldn’t cancel either or else we would’ve went elsewhere. WORST EVER. Eating the $200+ would’ve been a better option then staying the night here. Everything on their website is a lie and VERY misleading. The “resort” is nothing more then a high class road side dump. They obviously have their cancellation policy in place for a reason. RUN FAR AWAY. Not the staff’s fault at all, they actually were very nice but this place is a dump by definition. I have nothing good to say unfortunately and the staff must have a difficult job because we stood by a listened to people complain before WE even checked in. HORRIBLE. ****Also not handicap accessible, stairs only from what we could see****

The pictures shown have what looks like laminate flooring. Our room had old stained carpet. The room set up was not as picture either. The Jacuzzi tub was in corner of the bedroom. The tub was missing buttons, the paint was peeling, and the chair in the room was stained. The outlets were pulling out of the wall. Just not what we expected. The view of the castle and the river were great! Accommodations were disappointing.
