Set in beautiful and tranquil surroundings, the Mount Meru Game Lodge is nestled between the Usa river and the wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to zebra, ostrich, water buffalo, duiker, a wide array of birds and monkeys, including the elusive Colobus monkey. Conveniently located 25 minutes from Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), our lodge is an ideal base for your travels. The lodge & sanctuary was established by Dr. Von Nagy in 1959 and remains in family hands till today. The lodge has grown in popularity over the years, and our visitors have included numerous presidents as well as members of European Royal families. We look forward to offering you a memorable experience during your stay in Arusha.

This was our favorite lodge of a 12 day trip. After almost 24 hours of travel, arriving here was such a joy. The staff was not only extremely accommodating and professional but the kindest group of people we meet during our entire trip. The food was the standard by which we

A lovely small hotel with lovely grounds and a small game reserve (including a cute Zonkey!). Cabin rooms near the main building very comfortable. Food very good and relaxed quiet ambiance. Good chance of seeing Sykes blue faced monkeys and colobus monkeys. Highly recommended

Stayed here one night after arriving at JRO for safari and I really enjoyed my stay. Property is set back from the road so it’s quiet, peaceful and a great place to relax. It’s not big but sitting in the garden watching the animals and hoping to see the top of Kili was a great

Good afternoon. I am not sure if anyone responded to your question or if you have already found your answers. Let me start with the easy one, a beer costs 5,000 Tsh, that's about 2 Usd for a half liter bottle. Regarding the day trip to Tarangire national park, we are located about 2.5 hours away from the park, not ideally located for a day trip to Tarangire. We are ideally located for a day trip to Arusha national park which is 20 minutes away. Most of our guests, stay with us on arrival and then drive to Tarangire and other parks for their week long safari. The guests may or may not stay with us again on the way out.

Good evening. We have an a la carte menu at the lodge, items cost between 10,000 and 30,000 Tsh, 5 to 14 Usd. The average main course costs around 12 Usd. The restaurant is only open to clients that stay at the lodge unless you make a booking for lunch or dinner in advance.

Yes you can see quite a few of the National Parks from here and book when you get there or book in advance.

Thank you for your question. Mosquitoes are not a problem at the lodge year round. We do realise that this can be a concern for guests coming to Africa so all of our beds are fitted with mosquito nets and all of our rooms with mosquito repellents. However, this is for our guests peace of mind and not out of necessity. Kind regards, Intimate Places.
