This hotel was perfect for my 13-hour layover at Incheon, but would also be a great alternative for people who have been to Seoul and want to see a different side of Korea (and of course are either flying into Incheon at night or out of Incheon in the morning). Overheard some unfortunate fellow travelers who were also leaving the next morning, but were planning on taking a very expensive taxi for an hour or so each way to a similarly expensive hotel in downtown Seoul, that unless they were planning an all-nighter, they would not even get to enjoy. I prefer quiet sleep, even with a planned 8-hour nap just a few hours after waking, and a peaceful walk on the beach, but maybe I'm the outlier. I paid a few dollars extra for airport shuttle service, and was a little worried about communications after arrival, but the attendant at the perfectly placed (just outside baggage claim) Incheon information desk called the hotel, and the gentleman at the desk was fluent in English, issued explicit pick-up instructions, and told me the van would be there in 15 minutes. Sure enough, the driver showed up at the designated location in about 15 minutes; he must have hopped in the van the instant I called, as it took about 15 minutes to make the return. Don't know if service is that good all the time, but I was grateful. Morning came, and even though I was only on the second floor, there was indeed an ocean view. No visible beach or rocks from that floor, but salt water could be seen. Five minute walk to the ocean revealed the area was a magnet for camping on the beach, and apparently large quantities of substantial personal fireworks are legal in Incheon. Nothing big enough to take down a plane, but Massachusetts would frown on their backyard use. Interesting rocky inter-tidal area, covered with little oysters, and populated with small crabs of different flavors. Hotel room was typical size for a Korean hotel, which was nice after nine nights in cozy Japanese business hotels. Good shower; eclectic amenity kit, and a quiet, dark room, which is my primary consideration for rating- if the hotel is noisy, no matter how nice it is it won't get above a 3; if it's cemetery-silent, unless there are dirty sheets or hot-&-cold running rodents, it won't get less than a three. Did not take advantage of breakfast or return shuttle to the airport, but they were clearly willing to provide both. Not sure whether to classify as budget or mid-range, as the price was a little higher than I usually consider budget, but it felt like great value for the area and convenience.…
