Hotel's Favorite
I've stayed at this Hampton Inn 2 years running now for an annual event and I've had a very good experience both times. I found the staff to be helpful, the rooms to be better than the price they ask for, and generally everything runs smoothly. Honestly it's an affordable gem if you are going to be in the area and I would highly recommend it.
This past weekend was my second time at the hotel and I had a bit of an emergency. I was driving in a dirt lot the night before my stay and I had a tire warning on my dash. I had been doing a lot of driving for the trip and I hadn't filled my tires in a long while so I figured I just needed to use an air pump at a gas station. When I woke up the next morning the tire was completely flat. One of the guest service managers, Sheeva Beam, personally searched for local tire shops and gave me a hand written list of the best local places. She even checked when each one of them opened because it was early when I discovered the tire. She could have just said, "There are plenty of tire/mechanic places in the area," which is true, but instead she went the extra mile of giving me a list, which I appreciate.
Don't get me wrong, it's not the perfect hotel. I'm not a huge fan of the pillows they use on their beds, though they did have 2 types, one that was more like down and one that was more like a fiber filled pillow and the down one worked ok for me. This is a matter of preference for each guest. Also, their breakfast is ok. It's nothing to write home about. It's bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, waffles, and a hot bar for things like sausage etc.
They have other strengths to balance the scales though. They have good parking, excellent helpful staff, cookies in the lobby, and a 24/7 free tea/coffee bar.
All in all, if you are looking for great hotel witch nice/helpful staff, and some great amenities that is very reasonably priced, look no further.

Great option for our 1 night stay. The room was spacious and exceptionally clean. There were even 2 nightstands, each with its own USB charger which is hard to come by at some of the other hotels we’ve been to in Albany. Breakfast was filling and replenished quickly despite the fact that we went at 9am when it was very busy. They had pressed juices, smoothies, eggs, hash, french toast sticks etc. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff were so friendly. The hotel definitely is taking the COVID-19 safety precautions. The rooms were super clean, masks required for all, and although there did not appear to be many guest there, they did a great job at spacing out the guest as far as room placement goes. The grab and go breakfast was good because they also offered sandwiches that could be heated. The indoor pool area was super clean and you had to reserve time and they only allowed a certain amount of people in the pool at a time but we were the only one in the pool The workout room looked nice although we didn't go in but the same policy is in place for that as well. I will definitely stay there again!

The location of this Hampton Inn was exactly what we were looking for-close to several colleges, restaurants, shopping and the highways. I was worried that the Western Avenue location would be loud and busy, but this modern, immaculate hotel is set back from the road and couldn’t be more quiet. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Even during covid, the hotel was exceptionally clean, from the room to the hallways and the lobby. The few staff we encountered were extremely friendly and polite. We checked in using our app, which was super easy. We’ll definitely stay again if we come back to Albany/Guilderland.

Great location, close to Stuyvesant Plaza, with lots of shopping and dining options. Courteous, helpful, professional and pleasant desk, housekeeping and breakfast staff. Room was clean, with comfortable beds, but only a desk chair. Comforter was so heavy it slid onto the floor. The room has been updated with the new Hampton sliding closet/bathroom door. The bathroom vanity was spacious but has an awkward sink designed so that when you wash your hands, the water splashes on the counter and drips on your feet. Needs a brighter light bulb in the entry hall light fixture for better lighting when using the full-length mirror. Good air quality, as the window opened, but bathroom ventilation was poor and the humidity got up to 91 percent after showering. Hot breakfast back to pre-Covid standards. Multiple hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes dispensers in public places. Nice outdoor sitting area in the back.

This hotel is the best Hampton we have ever booked at! The employees are very friendly. They work very hard too. Each time I saw a guest they had something nice to say. We had the same housekeeper "Lumi" each day until the last day so we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to her. She did a wonderful job keeping our room clean and gave us everything we needed each day. She didn't speak English but still managed to make our stay the best! If my boyfriend ever books there again I will be sure to request Lumi to handle our room! The rest of the hotel was clean and very beautiful to look at so congratulations on selecting such a worthy cleaning team! It matters!
The food was delicious and the dining area was kept clean the entire time! The pool was equally great with deep blue sparkly water and fluffy towels always within reach! Just wonderful! Demetris at the check-in desk was friendly and quick and even gave us directions to a few places we inquired about. Oh it was just fantastic to be cared about by the staff!

I'm a competitive bagpiper with a contest in Albany. Usually when I travel, I ask hotels if I can use a conference room for 20 minutes to practice my competitive sets before the big event. It gets me away from other guests and minimizes the noise. I've never had a hotel say no. Even though no one is using those spaces, Hampton Inn on Western Ave in Albany was unwilling to let me use a room. Those rooms are only for paying guests. I guess my $300 to stay for two nights didn't count as enough money. I'm disappointed and won't be back to stay with them again in the future. - Heather Dunn

We apologize greatly that you had this experience here at the Hampton Inn. We take our guests experience and requests very seriously and this does not reflect the standards of our hotel. Rest assured, we are reviewing our training at the Front Desk to ensure we can accomodate all guest requests to the best of our ability so a situation such as this does not occur again. Again, we apologize that we did not honor your request and if you would like to discuss this matter further, pleae feel free to contact me directly at the hotel.

We stayed here Sept 2023 for two nights while looking at local colleges. The door to our room was filthy with hand prints (clearly not cleaned in a long time). Our room it smelled like strong deodorizer. One of the beds was messy as if someone had been laying on top of it. I pulled back the blanket and found the sheets rumpled with yellow stains and dark hair on the sheets. I called the front desk for a room change, but they were full and couldn't accommodate me. The front desk person came up and changed the bedding (no apology, just came and changed the bedding). The next day we left the room early and returned around 5pm to find the room wasn't cleaned, beds not made. Again, we called the front desk and they indicated they'd send someone upstairs. A lovely person came up with a pile of clean towels, and bedding. I also had requested a new blanket since there was a sticky substance on that too. I told the woman we were going to the gym and confirmed she didn't need us there to take care of the room. When we returned from the gym, the pile of bedding and linens was sitting on the counter. I guess she assumed we would be making the beds, changing the towels and no one was cleaning the room.
I would never stay here again. There are so many options in the area, that the price and condition of this hotel is NOT worth it.

Busy location on Route 20, not too far off i-87, staff was efficient during check in, two elevators made it easy and less wait to get around. Room was comfy, breakfast was excellent, parking easy/convenient, central to lots of shopping and restaurants. Pool was nice and warm. I'd surely return here upon another journey to this area.

Having just spent an awful night at the Hampton Inn in downtown Albany, we were apprehensive about staying here. We booked here as there was a superior selection of restaurants close by, Crossgates Mall was on the doorstep and access would be easier to places we planned to visit.
What a difference - chalk and cheese! This is a good property. Reception staff were friendly and professional. Our room, whilst being somewhat similar to the downtown Hampton Inn was larger, brighter and generally more welcoming. The a/c unit was quiet and didn't emit cold air when switched off. We didn't need it on as the weather had gone cooler. The window opened (with integrated bug screen) for fresh air. The bathroom was still pretty basic but there was shower gel!! Beds were comfortable and it was clean with regular housekeeping. Public areas were also bright and modern and whilst breakfast was unremarkable, the area was kept tidy despite being busy. Parking was free (unlike the downtown Hampton Inn).
One slight downer but no deal breaker - there was a large barbeque area adjacent to the car park we overlooked. Don't know if it belonged to the hotel or what looked like a public park adjacent. It was used over the two nights we were there by a raucous group who were drinking and cavorting into the late evening. We were high up and the window provided fairly decent sound proofing but we couldn't have it open for fresh air in the evening because of the noise and faint unpleasant odour of what ever this group were cremating.

They're equidistant in terms of drive time.
Not sure how their suites are arranged but perhaps a suite would accommodate you.
Hi! Thank you for the question. The smoking pavilion is in our back yard, across the parking lot next to our outdoor patio.
The weather is warming up and should be a very pleasant space very soon!
