My booking was made via Agoda OTA, and it is my first stay in this hotel. Compared to 89 Hotel Batam, this hotel (Swiss-Belinn Baloi, Batam) is 100% way better in an overall rating, from the hotel facade, to the internal rooms setup, facilities, overall maintenance and most importantly their most important assets, their staff!! They speak better English and are way more hospitable, from their front office team to the housekeeping team, and even their engineering team and their F&B team. Everyone I came across was always smiling and cheerful and would greet you once eye contact is made. The hotel has 8 levels in total, the top 2 floors are smoking floors, and the non-smoking floors are up to level 6 (max). Our room was 616, facing the main road. There are two little windows which I can open if I would like to, however, with the windows open.. the main street can be overwhelmed with noises. The room is of decent size and definitely well maintained (comparing to 89 Hotel); however it can be better managed (of course subject to P&L and if the owner would want to upgrade the hotel to maintain the standard, perhaps they should do it in batches, floor by floor). The bed is comfortable. AC is working well. Amenities in the room is definitely way way way better than 89 Hotel, they has 2x bathtowels, 2x facetowels, 2x bedroom slippers, 2x toothbrush set, 1x shower cap, 1x vanity kit, 1x sanitary bag, dispensers shower foam and dispenser shampoo (extremely mild citrus smell) and 2 small (600 ml) drinking bottle. There is a 1.5 litre bottle of drinking water, which is chargeable. There are a couple of outstanding teams that I would like to highlight below. They are from different departments as follows.. 1) Adelina, the F&B personnel (the most outstanding!!!); 2) Agi, the chef (the 2nd most outstanding!!); 3) Angga the Housekeeping personnel (the 3rd most outstanding!); 4) Ginting, the bellman / security personnel; 5) Evita, the receptionist; All are very helpful and friendly. They are all so welcoming and smiley, always humble.. ready to extend their warm hospitality Pros: 1) Sound proofing of the room, amazingly great.. though my room was facing the main road, the sound has been reduced tremendously 2) the breakfast spread (for a 3-star hotel), I must say it has an amazing spread.. with a live egg station, local variety, toasts & muffins, jam & butter (though the butter is melted due to the exposure to the sun, perhaps they need to move the toast counter away from the current location or place a blinds there). Cons: (hopefully the hotel is able to improve on the 1st pointer as soon as possible) 1) all the towels in the room (bath and face towels) all of them carry a super strong pungent smell of ammonia when they are wet (at first, I thought it was urine smell left on the bath towel), however, after changing towel, it still carries the same smell after use (when it's wet) hence, I realised it could be the chemicals that Housekeeping or their laundry provider (if they are outsourced) may have used. 2) the toilet needs an upgrade (overall toilet size is small, however with proper planning it will be of decent size for a 3 star hotel), the current shower head is fixed on the wall, which made showering a chord especially when one has a kid; also the water will splatter past the glass partition and onto the floor, and the floor mat will be soaking wet for the whole night. Overall, I still have 5 stars rating for this hotel, and I will sure be back!!…
