Excellent experience. Bungalows are comfortable with a beautifull view and airconditioned. The family is very hospitable and support you with everything from pick up on the airport to organizing tours and bringing you to the centre whenever you want but all in a relaxed way. There is a nice swimming pool. Breakfast is excellent and adapted to your preferences, you can also have very tasteful diner and lunch. Would recommend it for couples, families and individuals. We travelled in Laos and Thailand 4 weeks and this was the best place due to the hosts and the love attention given to the place by the family.
Absolutely amazing stay at this resort. Excellent staff and delicious breakfast. The bungalow is in amazing condition with beautiful views on the river and a peaceful setting. I would absolutely stay again and recommend to anyone. Do yourself a favor and stay here.
The guest house is wonderful and an easy shuttle to main part of Luang Prabang. Perfect place to start a Laos holiday, beautiful room and river view. The owners were friendly and so helpful with bookings for day trips and onward journey. If you want somewhere out of the main tourist area, this is for you. We used the shuttle service but there are bicicyles available. We were in Laos before the lockdown and major travel restrictions came into force. felt safe.
Staff were amazing. Well trained in customer service, pleasant and helpful. Front desk staff fluent in English. They even invited guests to join their staff party. I'm not exactly sure how they did it but they always knew us even with different staff working. You can tell staff get along well and enjoy their jobs. Facilities were great along with beautiful grounds and views of river and local farm life. It was enjoyable stay and great place to relax.
Luang Prabang early Dec 2019 is probably our favourite location during our 9 week trip through Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos & Thailand. Bustling local night market, plentiful historic & ornate Wats and an amazing experience walk with elephants through the forests with the superb caring conservation group MandaLao with offices on the Luang Prabang high street. Thongbay Bunglaows overlooking the picturesque meandering river is a gem with superb food caring attentive staff & the gardeners deserve a special mention for their creative impecable gardens, Wonderful experience highly recommended
There is a reason this guesthouse gets such a high rating. It is an enchanting tropical retreat with lush vegetation, beautiful spacious and well-appointed bungalows and a wonderful staff. Lai was especially welcoming, personable and helpful. On our recent two month trip through SE Asia we stayed at about 20 different hotels and this was one of our favorites. And Thongbay had the best breakfast of them all!
My 4 night stay at ThongBay Guest House in January 2020 was one of the highlights of my trip to SE Asia. It was a surprise to find such lush gardens and tranquil setting so close to the main tourist area of the city. The breakfast (most especially the mango pancakes) was outstanding and the shuttle to and from the town center were especially appreciated. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and courteous. Thank you for the yellow and orange good blessings bracelet! I highly recommend staying at ThongBay, you will not be disappointed.
We stayed at a bungalow overlooking the river for 4 nights. The hotel is situated in a beautiful tropical garden and outdoor dining area. Alternatively, breakfast could be served on our balcony - time and menu arranged the night before. We twice ate in the garden when we were too tired to go into town and had fabulous Thai curry soup. The hotel is approximately 10 minutes by shuttle from the lovely town of Luang Prabang. The shuttle is complimentary and runs back and forth to town by schedule. Shuttle to the airport was also complimentary. The staff at Thongbay were truly amazing - friendly, helpful and spoke good English. I would describe this hotel as a garden oasis with staff who go out of their way to make their guests feel comfortable and welcome. The hotel also offers laundry services which, for us, was so helpful. Although situated outside Luang Prabang, the shuttle service allowed going back and forth to be very easy. The swimming pool is located in a quiet spot and is lovely. We highly recommended Thongbay Guesthouse and would definitely stay there again.…
We stayed here for eight nights in February and March 2020. I can’t recommend it highly enough. There are a number of bungalows to choose from, some in the gorgeous tropical garden, some overlooking the Nam Khan river, and some by the swimming pool. We stayed in a garden bungalow at first and then upgraded to one by the riverside. Both were wonderful and had private patios, but we loved the riverside one best, on balance. Breakfast, evening meals and lunch can be delivered to your patio. There is a good sized swimming pool and great staff who cater to your every need. We enjoyed walking to and from the centre of Luang Prabang as it gave a real glimpse into real Laotian life, but there is a free shuttle service, and if the times don’t suit you, the cost of a Turk-Turk is peanuts and readily available. Swimming pools are rare in the crowded streets of Luang Prabang - another reason to choose the delightful Thongbay guesthouse. …
This is a very relaxing guesthouse some way from the centre of Luang Prabang. It is situated on a side road and is very peaceful. The grounds are nicely laid out and very green with tables doted around. Our bungalow overlooked the river and was quiet and comfortable. It was lovely to have our breakfast delivered to our room at a time of our choosing and to eat on our balcony. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We did eat here one night after a long day out. We sat at one of the tables in the garden, which was lovely, and the food was very good. We liked that there was a free water supply to top-up water containers. Our only negative comment would be that it is some distance from town and there is only a complimentary shuttle bus at certain times of the day. We did walk (about 25 minutes along a main road) into and out of town several times because the bus wasn't available when we needed it. We also used a tuk-tuk. However, if this is not a problem for you then the positives definitely outweigh this one negative.…
