We stayed five nights at this wonderful Bed & Breakfast in Antigua. Before the trip, the owner Marina and I communicated via email, and she scheduled three side trips for my wife and I — Antigua walking tour, day trip to Lake Atitlan, and day trip to the ancient Mayan city Tikal. Marina arranged all the transportation and tour guides for us. The hotel is full of plants and decorations from Marina’s travels around the world. Breakfast is cooked-to-order in the courtyard each morning (see photo). Marina and the staff were wonderful. From the hotel, you can walk most places within Antigua in 10-20 minutes. Tips: Marina accepts PayPal or US dollars. Also, the staff can arrange to have all your laundry washed and dried by a local cleaners.
We arrived in Antigua with colds, and for me, a bit of pneumonia. So we didn’t feel like doing much. Marina quickly set me up with a doctor for Saturday morning and prepared cups of strong ginger, lemon tea. La Villa Serena was a great place to sit in the sun, or shade, relax and recover. There was enough space that we could keep a distance from other guests. It’s no fun being sick on vacation, but Villa Serena was a great place to recover. The hotel is in a quiet neighborhood, on a cul-de-sac. So there is no street noise. There is a great central courtyard on the ground floor, a covered terrace on the second and two rooftop platforms above that. So a lot of nice quiet places to enjoy the weather and on the upper levels, the view.
Very much enjoyed 3 nights at La Villa Serena! Breakfast was great, especially the coffee! It’s a little ways out of the center of of town and away from noise. The walk into town is lovely. Comfortable bed and nice shower!
Right next to the city centre, but completely silent. Hard to find in a town where cobble stone roads and big buses make for constant traffic noise. The owner is lovely and speaks English well. Fun little roof terrace for a view of the city.
We arrived last night from the airport. This is our first time in Guatemala. Our transport was arranged by Marina. Our rooms are lovely and last night Marina recommended a lovely restaurant. Our breakfast was delicious and looking forward to our next two nights. Lovely hotel and gracious hostess. Antigua is a lovely city.
Villa Serena is a fabulous place in one of the most beautiful towns I've ever been to. Comfortable and charming rooms set around a gorgeous terrace, Marina - the host - is helpful and full of useful information and arranged my pick-up from the airport and onward transport, breakfast was great, the Villa has complete peace and feels very safe, but is only a short walk from the centre and all Antigua's sights, bars and restaurants. Antigua has a lot of good hotels but Villa Serena really is something unique and special.I hope to be back before long - in particular to see Mimosa, the adorable hotel dog.
Located in a quiet part of town and still within walking distance from the center, La Villa Serena is a colonial-style house that offers quiet and tranquility from the bustle of Antigua. The courtyard is full of plants and each room is decorated according to a different theme, filled with objets d'arts collected by Marina, the owner. Last not least, it is the warm atmosphere created by Marina and the many stories she has to tell from her life in Latin America and all over the world that make a stay here such a delightful experience.
This place is really nice, we stayed 3 nights. it sits in a quiet area of Antigua, very serene just like its name and just a few blocks from the central park. We stayed on the 2nd floor, nice 2-bed bedroom with private bathroom, great view of the volcanos from the terrace. The decoration of this hotel is unique and feels welcoming, cozy. Breakfast was delicious, and you just feel at home. Angel and Rolando are super nice, they want to make sure you are comfortable in every way. I couldn't agree more with the reviews from the other travelers that stayed here, just wonderful.
La Villa Serena is everything you could ask for: an utterly beautiful and tranquil property, with tastefully decorated rooms, wonderful breakfasts, and even a charming little puppy to boot! The best part of this incredible place are its people, most especially Marina. I've traveled a lot and have never had the privilege of being cared for by a more attentive, thoughtful, interesting, and wonderful person. Do yourself a favor and stay here when in Antigua. I can't recommend this oasis more highly. I was so sad to leave.
My husband and I had a great stay in Antigua and we loved the hospitality that was given to us by Carolina and Rolando. Carolina speaks very good English and she assisted us with our transportation and tour bookings. Rolando was awesome at taking care of us during the evenings, we really enjoyed visiting with him and learning a few Spanish words. Amazing people!!!!! This little hotel will not be a disappointment. The rooms are beautiful decorated with the Spanish feel, the beds are comfy, the water is hot and the wifi in the room was great! The cook to order breakfast was delicious and you will not leave hungry. We really enjoyed the rooftop patio and just hanging out and reading in the hammock. I would highly recommend this B&B, good value for the dollar and you will not be disappointed!…
