The family at AtlasAdventured recommends staying here! We took advantage of the Copa Airline stopover program, and this hotel was perfect for that. It has everything you need to make it feel like an all inclusive hotel. There's a great pool that has waterfall features, which our toddler loved sitting under, and a delicious buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. You can also sit in the restaurant/buffet area and order off of a menu. The location is the best part. It’s right on the water so you get these stunning views. Our room was up high! So we were able to see the whole city. There are plenty of restaurants and shops within walking distance. Loads of cabs on the streets so it’s easy to get somewhere. The hotel called us a cab, very early in the morning, to get back to the airport. All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms are big, clean, comfortable beds, and nice bathrooms. We had a wonderful stay, and cannot wait to come back!

Hotel's Favorite
The Hotel is extremely clean, very good security on premises. The hotel staff is very polite and helpful. The rooms are very roomy and the beds are extremely confortable. The restaurant has good variety of dishes, specially during breakfast.

We were not planning to stay in Panama City, however due to ill health we left a ship at the entrance to the Panama Canal, and we ended up staying at the Intercontinental in Panama City from 22 Aug till 5 Sept. We were in room 911 a 2-bedroom suite for the majority of our 14-night stay. I do not speak Spanish and found life very difficult during my time in Panama City, however all the following staff at the hotel our stay there and our comfort so much so it felt like home in some ways, thank you to the following: Doolvis – front desk who was my first point of contact at the hotel. Anna- front desk always had a smile. Alondra- front desk, always very patient with me and helpful. Guido- who did the night shift on the front desk and helped with many things. Kaya- Concierge helped me find some restaurants that had English menus and would deliver. Fernando- Door And always a welcoming smile and so polite. Angel- In the Club Lounge who made me a Coffee each morning and was very helpful. Anna- who was only the maid one day, however, did the best job in our 14-night stay-excellent. Carlos (little Carlos in the Restaurant) who helped me every day get breakfast to the room for my sick partner, a big thank you to him as it made my life so much easier with his help. My partner and I were in Panama City on business and had two five night stays at the IC Miramar (separated by an out-of-town trip). We have IC Ambassador status and booked for each stay the highest non-suite category room that included executive lounge access. We received the guaranteed one-category upgrade to a suite in addition to the other Ambassador benefits (a $20/stay food and beverage credit, guaranteed 4:00P checkout, and two complimentary beverages in the lounge for each stay). Overall, we really enjoyed staying at the IC Miramar. What we really liked: --Phenomenal staff throughout the property! --Spacious and comfortable suites with awesome views of the skyline and ocean. The views are enhanced by the hotel's location. Highway 1 (Pan-American Highway) is divided and it courses along the waterfront, and the hotel sits between the two directions, along with parks and green space. --Large outdoor pool and deck creates a resort-like vibe. The pool is fine for lap swimming. --Executive lounge with limited but decent breakfast and happy hour offerings. What can and should be changed: --The property feels tired and needs an update with more contemporary furnishings and design elements. --The gym is comprehensively equipped but the space is compact, and air conditioning and ventilation are suboptimal. Many pieces of equipment require maintenance. We will be returning to Panama City in several months. In spite of the negatives, we'll look forward to staying at the Intercontinental Miramar again.

I am giving this a generous 4 stars, when I'd say it was more of a 3.5. It's a nice looking hotel in a central part of panama city. We had a room over looking the water, which was lovely. The room was spacious and had comfortable beds and nice bedding. There was a nice area with coffee and a fridge. However, there was a large open area that could easily have a had a chair - it felt weird that there was nothing there. The room felt older, but was clean and freshly painted. The bathroom was a bit tired and the shower did not work very well. They did not provide a hair dryer, and although I asked at the front desk, one was never brought to my room. The public areas are nice, including the bar and restaurant. We did not use the pool. The buffet, were we had both lunch and dinner, was good, and the deserts amazing!

Firstly, I apologize as I had written a post last year but seems that something went wrong when posting. I had just noticed that it never uploaded. In any case it’s not too late to provide important advise to anyone who still plans on going to the Intercontinental Hotel. Enlightening you on what transpired with me during my stay. I visited Panama in the second half of 2022 and stayed at the Intercontinental Hotel. Picked it because it was an international chain that should make us feel welcomed and secure. While staying there I went to the Spa and got a massage. Here the lady at the Spa desk took a key and brought me to the locker room, where she directed me to a specific locker and gave me a robe, she said that I can take off all my clothes and put all my stuff in the locker and handed me the key. Which is what I did, after I returned from my massage 1 hour later I noticed the locker door opened easily, the mechanism was loose and the locker was broken into. Looking through my items my watch (given to me by my late departed father) and 1 credit card from my wallet were pilferaged. I then notified the lady at the spa desk and then I went down to the lobby and registered the complaint. The front desk staff notifed the General Manager (GM) Mr. Giovanni Cerabona, who came down with an attitude as if I had disturbed his afternoon nap. I explained to him the situation and he said he would go to the Spa and review the video footage. He returned some 30 mins later to tell me that they need more time to review the footage as it’s on a long tape. I gave him all my data and he said he would have news tomorrow and get back to me immediately. I advised him I will be checking out of his hotel as I do not feel safe. I paid my bill completely. I told the front desk to call the police who then came and took me to the police station to file an official report. I then checked into another hotel for the remaining of my stay. 48 hrs passed and nothing from the GM. I then returned to the hotel and requested the staff at the front desk to call the GM. He came down again with the attitude that I again was interrupting him. I asked why have you not called or sent me any messages and he said he lost my data! I was dumbfounded, is that the importance that they give to such situations? In which case I provided it to him again!! At that moment He sat down looked me in the face and said they had reviewed the video footage and no one other than one gentleman was in the locker room during the time I was. He had left some 5 mins after I had entered the room for my massage. When asked to view the footage the GM would not show it to me stating only that they will show it to the police and they will contact them to tell them they have the footage ready. This man that was in the locker room, I also noted he was lingering in the lobby for some time before I went for my massage. The GM confirmed that they knew exactly who he was and that he was actually a member of their gym. He said that they would approach him and let me know of what they determine from their investigation. Well, I waited some 2 weeks and nothing from the GM or anyone else from the hotel. I sent messages and then the GM responded by putting me in contact with their insurance company. The insurance company simply refused to pay for the watch without the production of a receipt. This was impossible as the watch was given to me 25 years ago and there is no receipt from a quarter decade ago. The GM had simply gone silent on the subject, even though he was cc’d in on all messages. A month later I received a written statement from the police stating that they had attempted to contact the Intercontinental hotel on at least 2 separate occasions but there was simply no response from the hotel and couldn’t conclude their investigation, therefore they closed the case. I contacted IHG group and sent them a message to the effect of what had transpired in their hotel and they replied that they don’t run it and don’t get involved, that this has to be settled with the hotel Owners. Though they did say they would investigate the matter and revert. I requested that they take action as this should not happen to any other guests. IHG never reverted to advise what they determined and what steps they would take if any on security measures. So since IHG only wants their name associated to the hotel and provide me with no sureity that they will take steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again to any guest. I will not endorse this group in the future. Well the hotel Owners through the GM only want to settle through their insurance who had the ridiculous requirement of a receipt from 25 years ago. I consulted with a local attorney who advised that it was very suspicious that after 2 months the police closed the case, this should go 6 -7 months before such a decision is made. Such a tragedy has never happened to me in any of the hotels that I had frequented throughout the world. For a guest to be violated at such caliber of a hotel and them having zero interest in resolving such a horrific matter strikes me as surprising and very unprofessional. What I would like to make abundantly clear to any potential guests, is that I was poached in this hotel from someone that they freely allow to roam their corridors and building and I truly doubt any action was ever taken as it was clear by the lack of responses and the attitude generated by their GM that they simply wanted to sweep this under the carpet. Happening to a foreigner who will leave the country, it would most likely be forgotten!! The hotel did not recognize any compensation, consolation, nor offer a simple cup of coffee. On the contrary they never informed me of what the investigation revealed nor the measures they took for this not to happen to anyone in the future. My messages with the GM proved worthless as he was a very disingenuous person. The treatment I was afforded should not be portrayed to any guests. As a guest of a hotel we pay to come to a safe and secure place when we are traveling. This hotel and the Management’s attitude clearly indicated to me that guest welfare and security was not really their concern. Additionally, the fact that they obstructed justice by not allowing the police to follow up and perform their due diligence after someone rifled through my belongings while in the sanctity of their care is very disturbing. I consider the fact that they didn’t follow up with the police or respond to the police as aiding and abetting the alleged thief. I will NOT recommend this hotel nor any others owned by the same group. If the hotel Owners can place such a person to run their hotel and attend to international guests, then what else ……? The top priority of any hotel should be the welfare and security of their guests. If something grave happens to a guest they should follow up and show their guests that they are concerned and that measures are being taken to ensure this does not happen again! The way things took place really make me wonder, if there is more to my story than I’m aware. Anyway, I cannot speculate on whether there was hotel staff involved in this nor how many other times such an occurrence took place there or whether there was influence exerted on the police to close the case early, I have no evidence. I’m curious with such management if there are other nefarious things? Your safety, security and wellbeing should be on top of the list for any hotel and if something horrendous transpires under their guard, they should do their utmost to determine how & who keeping abreast the guest of actions the hotel is taking, allowing the guest to feel assured that there is some type of closure to the tragic event. I do not recommend this hotel!! There is no shortage of hotels in Panama, I have visited numerous since this visit and they have exemplified a safe and secure environment. This should be everyone’s first concern, I do not wish this appalling event on anyone. Good luck and safe travels!

Excellent hotel but we were disappointed with the room allocation. We booked 2 x Classic Rooms with Balcony back in January. However when we arrived in May we were told there wasn't any balcony rooms available? Our companion was allocated a 2 roomed suite with balcony, however? While we don't begrudge him his good fortune, I find it hard to believe that all the rooms with balconies in this huge hotel were booked before January. It seemed as though we were being booked in to what was available on the day & no pre-booking of rooms had taken place. We weren't even offered a refund.

What a disaster experience ! Really a shame for a brand and image like Intercontinental. A "i don't care" attitude all over the place, bad service, bad rooms ... Difficult to find something positive about this hotel except the location and the view. 1) forget any decent checkin : the staff don't even look at you (even if you wait at the special counter for IHG level guests ; i was told "come here" ... Nice welcome. 2) room was not ready at the end of the day 3) area of swimming pool is just dirty (paper, dust all around) - see picture 4) room is not fresh; air conditionning leaking on the wall and floor, 1 cm space between the door and the wall ... Avoid a room close to the lift because you will hear the whole night the ding dong ... 5) don t disturb some staff member at the breakfast; they are not there to clean the table or serve a coffee (when you finally call him, he just avoids to come) Was it only us ? Are we too demanding for such an hotel ? Never again ...
