Getting there
Great for walkers
Places to stay are graded on a 0-100 scale. The higher the grade, the easier it is for travelers to find restaurants and things to do within walking distance.
Illa's inn offered an excellent hospitality and service. The location is pretty strategic as it's within 3 mins walking distance and nearby the Wanchaq station, so you don't need to grab a taxi when you want to take a tour to Machu Picchu early in the morning or late in the evening. The receptionist named Alex was very informative and helpful. For its price, I think the bedroom was decent. It has private bathroom, bed, TV, 2 bedside tables and a desk. The breakfast was good but not that variative. It had fried eggs, ham, bread, granola, juice, yoghurt and milk. But one thing to note is the bedroom doesn't have heater. So when the room temperature is very cold in the midnight, it can be hard to sleep.

The hotel is located 2 blocks from Avenida el Sol, where banks, exchange houses and artisan markets are located. The external appearance of the hotel deceives us because it shows a garage entrance, however its interior is surprising because it has very good facilities, with a beautiful garden in the background, good finishes and an elevator. The breakfast area makes you feel at home because it has the appearance of a kitchen and its workers are always very attentive at all times

Illa's inn offered excellent hospitality and service. The location is pretty strategic as it's within 3 mins walking distance to the Wanchaq station, so no taxi needed when you are heading to Machu Picchu early in the morning or late in the evening. The receptionist named Alex was very informative and helpful. Gave us the name to an awesome restaurant called La Quinta Cocina Peruana. For its price, the bedroom was decent. We had the 2 twin beds because that's all available when booking but it had a private bathroom, with nice hot water. The breakfast was good. It had fried eggs, ham, bread, juice, coffee and milk.

The staff were always kind and tried their best to help us. I didn't hesitate to tell them about any problems I had, and they responded quickly and appropriately. The rooms were also nice and clean. The breakfast was delicious and had a wide variety of fruit, ham, cheese, coffee, and even coca tea leaves, and we enjoyed it leisurely while looking out at the courtyard. It's about a 5-minute walk from the PeruRail station going to Machu Picchu, and they will store your large luggage even though there are restrictions on carry-on baggage on PeruRail. There's also a supermarket nearby, so you can get anything you need.

Don't be fooled by appearances: Illa's Inn delivers much more than meets the eye. The rooms and bathroom are new, the bed is very comfortable and huge! The shower was the best of the entire trip to Peru. But what really makes the difference is the service provided by the staff and the hotel owner, José. He helped us with everything we needed and went beyond our most basic questions. In addition to getting more affordable tours with experienced guides, he informed us about several issues that made the difference in our trip to Cusco and Machu Picchu.

One of the best hotels I ever stayed at! I was in Cusco for 3 weeks and as I was traveling outside the city too, I booked my stay at Illas Inn three times during this time (booked all three in advance), leaving and coming back. They were amazingly accommodating with everything I asked, from keeping my suitcase everytime I left to every other extra request. The nicest staff i ever met! Always smiling and making sure i was OK, striking conversations, helping with advice where to go. And then I found myself needing them for a fourth time , out if the blue! My flight was canceled due to the Lima airport being closed all of a sudden, and I found myself taking a taxi back to the hotel at midnight, with no prior phone call or anything. And they were amazing, right away gave me my previous room and calmed me down. I will stay only at Illas Inn every time I'll come to Cusco! (of course it's Aldo very comfortably located in the center of the city, close to everything and in a quiet neighborhood, which helps 😉)

Excellent attention from the hotel staff. Comfortable rooms price comfort. Although we didn't enjoy breakfast every day because we had explorations very early, the team gave us some snacks and drinks to take away.

We spent 8 nights here in May. This was an incredible find! We had a huge room (I think the room type was the family room)with a view of the garden area. Like most hotels in South America there is no heat, but there were extra blankets available and they had heaters available upon request. The bed was soft and comfortable and the pillows were fluffy ( just like we like them :) )Breakfast was amazing every day they had something warm aside from the normal buffet items. One day it was tamales…they were so good. We never left breakfast wanting something more. It was a wonderful start everyday. One day we had an early tour and they provided us with a to go breakfast that was very appreciated! The hotel decorations were also amazing. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The building is safe and secure. We were able to walk to everywhere we wanted to go. We would definitely recommend this place!!

Stayed at the Illa's Hotel for 4 nights. What an amazing experience! Everything was perfect! Super clean hotel; very helpful staff. Conveniently located (2 min walk) from Wanchaq station where you can take the train to Machu Picchu; 15 minute walk to city center. Boris, the manager of the hotel is simply outstanding. He made sure all my needs were met, provided great suggestions of places to see, organized taxi's, even accommodated me by opening the breakfast a little earlier for me as I had an early pick up for a tour. The Buffet Breakfast offered a variety of hot and cold options, scrambled eggs, sausage, cheeses, cold cuts, pastries, fruit, yogourt, freshly squeezed juice, coffee, etc. Thank you, Boris and staff for an incredible experience! Will definitely be returning to Illa's Hotel for future travel to Cusco! Natalie from Toronto, Canada

The hotel is quiet and cozy. With adorable green garden. Rooms are big. Everything were clean and ready on time. People working there are so helpful with every little request we asked. Breakfast was freshly cooked every day and packed for us when we left for early morning trips. It’s just 15-20 minutes of slow walking to main square and all historical cites, restaurants etc. Our family spent amazing time. Thank you.

When I stayed last March at Illa's Inn and left for Machu Piccu for 2 days, the Inn took care of may baggage until I returned. So there should be no problem leaving a baggage with them.
There are more places to choose from in the Cusco area.
